Others have not taken kindly to this amp. I disagree. As a practice amp, this is one nice piece of equipment. I mostly like the clean sound and I have been able to dial in a tone resembling a Fender Twin. I like the SHAPE control on the screaming lead sound. And it is small and lightweight - perfect for practice gigs. I would not call this a main gigging amp and that is not what it is intended to be. But for new players, for practicing, for an amp in a home, at a church.... this is the one.
It has clean, overdrive and screaming settings, each with tone control. It has a nice foot pedal and a connection to play along with an MP3 player. This is more than expected at this price range and the controls provide a wide range of tones. - nice for a variety of genres. As mentioned by other reviewers, the effects here are not the greatest, BUT, this amp has effects where other amps this size generally do not offer them.
Plastic knobs, plastic corner protectors.... Play nice and the amp should hold up well.. I have had no problems at all using this as my main practice amp but I would not take this out on the road.
For the price, this is a great amp. Small, but plenty of power (except for you loudest of rockers) nice controls, plenty of sounds, OK effects.

I have had this amp for a couple years and am coming to terms with the fact that I will need a new one. The effects are downright bad (save the phaser which is kinda a cool sound). The Overdrive is OK at best, high gain, is hard to control and not great sound. I use individual stomps, so I don't have tons of experience here though... It can get decently loud, but it simply will not have leads cut through a band on the clean setting. Clean tone is actually not bad, but just not enough power. My extension stompbox broke, although it seemed to be easy to fix, I just didnt try. It has been very solid and reliable otherwise.

    eh, beginner amp

I own alot of quality products. This is not one of them. This amp is not very loud. I play with a jazz band and used it for a show the other night, and it barley kept up, with the volume at around 9. 10 was just distortion, on the clean channel. I use a Gretsch G6120 and an Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty, and this amp does neither of them justice. The overdrive is very hissy, unless you have the gain turned down past 3 or 4. The high gain channel? FORGET ABOUT IT. Un-useable as far as Im concerned. Effects are not too good. Buy pedals, and not the cheap DT prossesrs, I mean real single effects boxes (I also tried plugging in direct, with no pedals, and it wasnt much better, so I know its not my pedal setup, which has 7 pedals). I tried recording with the thing with a Shure SM57 on the speaker and a RODE NT5 about 2 feet back, and what I got was a bad recording. My old Crate G120C (1999) sounded much better. The only reason I bought this one is so that I wouldnt have to lug around a 70 lbs amp 3 or 4 times a week. Not a good deal, mabe for a beginner, but I am taking this back and getting a Fender Blonde Jr Deluxe.

    Great Value

    By Drewfus

    from U.S.

I just bought this amp and it is great! The sound quality is not the best but it is fine for a beginner like me. There actually is a line out on the back of the amp. The only thing I don't like about it is the feedback on High Gain. Great amp!

    Good stuff

First off, this is a great amp. I love the sounds I can get out of it.Some problems I ran into are the FX preseting. It's kind of annoying that if you want a certain FX setting on a certain channel you have to spend a few minutes resetting the FX to get what you want. It's also annoying that there is no "line out" plug. At gigs, it has to be mic'd.

    pretty cool

    By thrashkid

    from northville, MI

i have had this amp for about half a year and theres is nothing really whrong with it but let me go through the channels.1(clean- its ok could use abit for options but im not complainin. 2.(overdrive- blah......never really used it but when i did i was never disappointed. 3.(high gain- my fave- i used to us this alot cause i love the way it sounds. but the big downfall is the feedback. if you are doing solos and you hear soming in the back... its extremely frustrating. but i use a metal zone pedal and have it set up to the setting on the crate so it eliminates a bit of the feed back to where its not anoying. but all in all its a great amp for small gigs with friends or in a big place. this amp pumps out alot when you want it to..........not when it wants

    Black Metal

    By ReedSmith

    from Michigan

I've had this Amp for about 5 months, i play rock, metal, Black metal, Death metal and punk rock. This amp is perfect for all. The effex are alright, Buying your own peddleboard is probobly your best bet if you want some good effex. The high gain screams nicely. It's a good amp for practice and small shows.
