I would recommend this product but also beware that the unit does have a
Battery and its expensive to replace around 75 or so when ordered on line.
I have 2- of these and i have replaced batteries 4-times, after about a year
of street gigging they will need replacing, but the tips on the street will
cover that. It is also noted that the inputs on the volume controls are
weak and latter can cause static or boost. I replaced one and soldered
back in and its working fine. Other Battery amps on the market are not as good,
i recommend this one. I also put a Celestian 10"speaker in one of my cabinets
and it seams to of stopped the Feed back and gave more bass sound. I
only wish that the Battery compartment had a door on it because you have to
remove the grill and speaker to get to it. The other thing is the battery is only
available through Crate and you can not purchase a match any where.
Got my batteries in a couple of days so not bad. For a Street Amp i really
think its Great. Remember to keep the battery charged up and it will last
quite a long time. Have Fun.
These amps work well on the street for acoustic and mic applications.
After 7 years usage they have held up pretty good and are still working.
The angled cabinet is nice for pushing the sound up off the ground.
The quality is ok and holds up if not abused. It has a nice pole mount and
the side handle is nice for lifting. I use a dolly to cart mine off. It has nice reverb
and the mic imput works pretty good. We use two of them for Dbl. mics
and singing, and the volume is pretty good. The pole mount is good if you want
to mount it up high, I set them on a milk Crate and thats pretty nice and out
of the way. 2-Channels are nice to have for guitar and Mic.w/ good features.
I give it a 9 because the knobs on top are not protected as well and can be
bumped when moving it around. They could of used a better potentiometer
on the volume knob since it is used all the time (More Rugged) If your
careful you will be fine. Cool rubber feet give it a stand alone sound and
make it easy for set up and protect the body of the amp.
Not bad for the price range and volume you get. Will run 4-6 hrs with new batteries
if not cranked all the way up. Also like the LED Battery light it Blinks from
Red to Green when needing a charge then Red. Would of been nice to have a battery
Life Indicator on it so it does not drop out when performing. Just keep in mind
your time and you will be fine.

I'm changing my 10 star rating to a 3 ... What good is a battery powered amp that dies when your gig begins!? Seriously!?
I've used this amp at practices; but at only less than 10 gigs total in the last 2 years ... my estimate is that I have logged less than 50 hours total ... And the very second time that I plugged in the charger, the light went out after only a few seconds ... I know it's not the connection or the charger, becasue the same thing occurred when I used the car charger (and, NO, I did NOT plug into the wrong slot! Sheesh!).
On the absolute 5th gig ever, the amp crapped out JUST AS I WAS STARTING ... WHAT!!?? If I hadn't been able to plug into a Roland KC-110 that my keyboard accompanist was using, we would NOT have been able to finish the gig .... BUT ... I was NOT able to use my guitar, because his Korg out powered my guitar ...
At any rate ... WHAT WENT WRONG ....???!!!!
It can only be either:
This came from the factory with a weak battery (ever notice how new car batteries die after only 2 years? .. Even though after market replacement batteries last for 5..?); or
I needed to ensure a full charge during non-use times by plugging the charger in (even if it's not being used ... or, maybe, especially if it's not being used ..??)
Does this mean that I have to carry the re-charger with me, and use it all the time to ensure that the battery will never die ...?? ...Seriously..??
The recharger is way too bulky to carry along with the amp; and the amp itself is already about 4 pounds heavier than it should be because of the too heavy battery ...
Why can't this model come with a removable battery pack, and separate (transformer-less) power cable? So that the battery is optional (just like on the Roland KC-110)?
I'm going to stubbornly hang onto this amp, because it's still the best guitar / vocal combo amp / P-A ... but this is a serious problem ....
I can assure you that when I contact Crate for service that I'm going to grill them about this ...

Comments about Crate Taxi Series TX50DB Limo 50W 1x10 Battery Powered Guitar Combo Amp:
It's the best for what I do! Very cost effective & easy to travel with. I play at least 250 gigs a year as a professional solo/acoustic guitarist in the DC market, so this is perfect! I'm not needing to push a lot of sound at the venues I perform, so this is spot on. And when the club has its own PA, I simply turn the LIMO into a monitor and run it thru their board.

Comments about Crate Taxi Series TX50DB Limo 50W 1x10 Battery Powered Guitar Combo Amp:
I recently bought a new Limo after my last one finally died BUT I had that one for almost 8 years, 100's of gigs and used it in clubs in Ecuador, Peru & LA. It even stores in the overhead compartment on most commercial airplanes. I am a pro solo performer in the DC area for over 17 years now and unless I play a room where I can't push enough sound, this is ALL I use-- and I play some pretty large & loud clubs. I use to lug my JBL Eon 15 all over creation until I realized the Crate was more than loud enough-- even outside at the various Virginia wineries I perform. I have NEVER gone beyond about 3-4 on the volume control on both mic & acoustic. Most places I perform I am strictly background and most clubs don't want in-your-face entertainment anymore, so this is perfect! I play about 250 gigs a year, using just the Limo for 99% of them-- that's how versatile it is. Of course, if I crank it, it's not gonna be as effective-- it's not made for that-- but at low to mid-range volume it more than suffices...

Comments about Crate Taxi Series TX50DB Limo 50W 1x10 Battery Powered Guitar Combo Amp:
I do outdoor gigs where there's no electricity available. i.e. weddings in parks, on ferrys, picnics, etc. It really sounds good for jazz/chord melodies on my Carvin semi-hollow. I had one for several years that did not fail me. Dumb me plugged in the wrong a/c device thinking it was the Crate-charging device. It cooked the unit beyond repair. All my fault, not that of the product.

Comments about Crate Taxi Series TX50DB Limo 50W 1x10 Battery Powered Guitar Combo Amp:
I have two Limo's. They sound surprisingly good in an acoustic guitar duo or by using one for just vocals and the other for guitar. I have run the vocals and guitar into one before and the sound was pretty nice. They're very handy for garden parties and weddings since you can set up almost anywhere in minutes. Quite a bit of sound comes out the back of the cabinet which is handy if you just plunk the box in front of you. You can put them on poles or use them as monitors which cuts down on the wiring and clutter if you're playing in bars and small spaces. I haven't had any battery issues and they seem to run forever on a charge! The controls are a bit odd. I have to wonder how this unit slipped past the factory QC guys back when they were first designed. The effects switch has no click between effect settings. You have to listen carefully to check if you're on the right setting! Also, the XLR input for the microphone is incredibly hot. If you turn the volume past 3, I think the speaker would blow.
Aside from that, I think they're a flexible product if you play in a variety of places. I would have given it a rating of ten if the controls were a little better thought out and if it had a battery level indicator.

Comments about Crate Taxi Series TX50DB Limo 50W 1x10 Battery Powered Guitar Combo Amp:
I'm playing with a pops orchestra and need to slip in and out of rehearsals and performances subtly, so not having a power cord to deal with is great. The Limo has more than enough power to be heard in this setting, and has a very clean sound. Relatively light weight and small footprint. Hard to find! Local stores [@] didn't carry it.

Comments about Crate Taxi Series TX50DB Limo 50W 1x10 Battery Powered Guitar Combo Amp:
The RCA input depends on a strong output and volume control from the inputting device - there is no way to do this controlling from the amp. Unit is more pleasant sounding than previous TX30 and I was happy with the TX30 (being repaired). Unit is loud enough to use as a meeting room PA, do a single man gig (vocal/instrumental). Effects are limited but very adequate (and unit has a secondary effects loop plug for additional).
Better than the TX30 I replaced . . . Low impedence mic input a plus . . . RCA inputs a plus
Better sound than the TX30 I had to replace due to failure (it is being repaired).
I chose it over other makes and models due to the quality and value of my previous TX30. It was just slightly more expensive than the TX30 yet has better sound and nore features. Very attractive product.
Comments about Crate Taxi Series TX50DB Limo 50W 1x10 Battery Powered Guitar Combo Amp:
I've had this amp for a few years now. I've used it for out door gigs with small bands with no problem being heard. Used it once with a 17 piece group & it was plenty. I regularly play with a group that does parades. It is plenty of volume. I've also used it as a Portable PA with good results.
I'm still on original battery. Since it often sits weeks or months with out being used, I always charge overnight before using. I have never had the battery go down in a gig. The only time I've ever run the battery down was the time I left it on by accident.
The charging light seems confusing. It goes on when you plug it in then goes off or very dim. It goes back in when you unplug. As I said before, I charge overnight & don't pay much attention to the light.
One word of caution, The 12V (automobile) jack & the DC Charger jack (15V I think), are the same. The manufacturer warns that pluging the charger to the 12V jack is BAD. I put Electical tape over that one so I don't "Opps" when connectiing.
While this may not be the best amp for all uses, it is great if you need to play where ther is no power.
Good basic package of features., comparable with similar size & price amps. Where it really shines is the portability to take it where ther is no power. Especialy glad it has 2 independant channels. This allows vocals with the instrument or 2 instruments
I've had one for a few years now with no issues. Some wear where wires enter AC adapter, but that's due more to my misuse than product quality
Don't know of anything else out there, battery powered, that matches this.
