OVERVIEW

Coveted overdrive sounds in a fab little pedal.

Danelectro puts the D-2 FAB Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal in your hands without wiping out your financial portfolio. History was made in 1975 when a mom-and-pop store in California commissioned the production of just 200 of what is perhaps the best guitar overdrive effect ever. Unlike any other effects unit, that pedal authentically simulated the breakup that occurs when a tube amp is run at full volume. You will occasionally see an original in the stage rig of a major artist. IF you could find an original offered for sale, you should probably sit down before inquiring about the price . . . The Danelectro D-2 FAB Overdrive pedal features Level, Tone, and O.D. controls.

FEATURES

A lot of the music I play is 70's classic hard rock. As I've developed as a guitar player I've realized that using straight ahead distortion is the wrong sound for certain songs. I realized that what I needed to add to my arsenal was a nice overdrive sound that gave me some breakup and boost but without crossing the line into distortion territory. Since I already own two Danelectro pedals (the FAB Distortion and FAB Chorus-both of which are awesome pedals, BTW) I decided I would buy the FAB Overdrive. This pedal was exactly what I was looking for. This pedal gave me some great classic rock tones when used with my Epiphone G-400 and Epiphone Les Paul Special I. (This pedal along with the P-90's in my Les Paul are an especially tasty combo!) All of the Danelectro FAB pedals are made of a tough plastic which I have found to be very durable. I see no need to jump down on and try to smash my pedals when I hit the footswitch as some other people must do, so I have never had a problem with the shells of these pedals breaking or cracking. I also like the bright LED lights on the Danelectro pedals. They leave no question as to whether or not the pedal is on. All in all I highly recommend this pedal if you are looking for a nice overdriven classic rock sound. For that matter, I recommend all of the Danelectro FAB pedals. They sound great and are affordable to boot. What more could you ask for?

I bought this wanting to use it primarily as a boost pedal. I thought I could play soft rhythm, then kick on the overdrive with a little distortion for the solo. The pedal sounds good, but doesn't meet my needs because I can't get the volume cranked up loud enough to make a difference. I haven't messed around with it enough and it may be my amp, but so far it is not meeting my needs. But it looks cool, was cheap and it sounds OK.

Comments about Danelectro D-2 FAB Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I've had this pedal many years, it just keeps cranking out great sound, you can back it down so you get subtle breakup or crank it up for fat, smooth saturation! Love it! So far with many hours and gigs live on stage it has worked perfectly and seems like it will keep going!

Comments about Danelectro D-2 FAB Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

Sound is great directly into an old Crate solid state amp. Sounds less good, too much low freq distortion into my Fender Mustang II v2, not sure why, but could be poor emulation in the Fender or the Boss Compressor in front of it.

In any case its well worth the investment in a starter board, which is what I wanted. It's a keeper, and I'll figure it out eventually.

Comments about Danelectro D-2 FAB Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

Bought this years ago and every one in a blue moon I pull it out in the hope I will find something useful. Took many years & many tries, but I finally did! I put a boost in front of this and maxed the O.D. - low and behold, I had a decent sounding fuzz! I have a 70's Big M Pi, but this combination has a different flavor, so it gets used on occasion.

Comments about Danelectro D-2 FAB Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

It does'nt change the tone of your guitar which in its self is a rarity...it does have a distortion level adjustment which I barely have on...I place this pedal after my compressor which in combination gives a very clean smooth overdrive. The distortion can be over the top gritty if thats what you are after. It works great as a clean boost as well...I bought my first 5 at Musicians Friend delivered for under the price of 1 average bad sounding pedal...of all the distortion pedals I have used the cheaper D-2's are better than almost every higher priced overdrive/distortion pedal I have used in my 50 years of playing...the reason for buying so many? My friends think they are great too.I sold every one I had except 1 and I got another as a back up.The value is there. Thanks for the deals Musicians Friend
