I like DanElectro hardware, particularly its 'retro' style. Although a non-metal body, the slider controls are firm and tight with a decent selection of frequency notches (as well as separate gain slider). Only first-impression negative may be it's a bit too small; but if that's why it's comparatively inexpensive, then it's all good.
Of course it is new, and not extensively road-tested, nor used long enough to judge durability—that'll just take time. But for the price, hard to find fault, since it does as advertised. What more can you really ask?

I had this pedal for a few months and it worked great...I was basically using it to achieve a little more sparkle with my Hot Rod Deluxe. However, last week I'm practicing with the band and I started to get a horrible noise out of my chain. After examining all my cables and pedals I found out it was the Fish n Chips causing the problems...Basically the unit overloaded and got fried, and I had it at the start of my chain, set with no boost at all. Took it home and it smelled like burnt plastic. Now its complete junk - didn't even get to gig with it.Bottom line, works ok - but it doesn't last. I'd say spend the extra money if you are serious about your setup.

Comments about Danelectro DJ14 Fish and Chips 7-Band EQ Pedal:

This is a great EQ pedal for the price. Both my amps have limited EQ, so I ordered this to help me dial in my sound. I must say that it does a fantastic job for something low budget. I have not had the opportunity to compare it to a more expensive EQ pedal, but if you are debating whether or not you need an EQ, get the Fish and Chips and you'll be glad you did!

Comments about Danelectro DJ14 Fish and Chips 7-Band EQ Pedal:

For a unit this cheap, I didn't expect much. I needed an EQ to help my hybred Vox amp bump a few frequencies to help cut through a live mix (Fletcher–Munson effect). The amp sounded really good alone, but with a band sounded like a blanket covered it. I didn't know if an EQ would work and didn't want to spend loads of money trying to find out. I was amazed that this little unit brought out the missing frequencies that the tone controls on the amp couldn't do and did it quietly. Very please with the purchase.

Very nice unit for the money, I use it on my acoustic before running into the sound board.

Comments about Danelectro DJ14 Fish and Chips 7-Band EQ Pedal:

I love retro stuff and Danelectro is all about retro..was excited about getting this..it was cheap and had good reviews. The first 2 weeks it was great..then it started getting very noisy. Then the high pitch squeals started..at gigs of course. Had to remove it from my set-up. It would probably work fine for home use...I wouldn't play shows with it.. replaced it with an old school MXR model.

Comments about Danelectro DJ14 Fish and Chips 7-Band EQ Pedal:

I'm using this eq with my acoustic pu, a l r baggs I beam. Having control over every octave of the sound makes a significant difference--I get the best replication of my acoustic's sound boosting at 100 hz, and cutting at 200hz, then making other minor 'tweaks'(usually a few decibels) based on the system I am going through and the style of music I'm playing. I think this modestly priced unit does well at not coloring the sound or adding artifacts. Of course, with eq its is important to subtract rather than boost in most instances to keep the sound realistic and to avoid hiss.

My biggest problem was that the instrument input open on our church PA rendered my guitar tinny and gutless.I was thrilled with the change this lightweight, ridiculously affordable little tool evoked.

Comments about Danelectro DJ14 Fish and Chips 7-Band EQ Pedal:

The tone control on the Fender Excelsior was limited even after replacing the switch with a pot but now I can shape the tone as needed. It also can be used for a little more signal gain ( clean OD) when needed.

Comments about Danelectro DJ14 Fish and Chips 7-Band EQ Pedal:

I really wanted to like this, and reading other comments, many people do.

The problem is that it is very very noisy, even at moderate settings. Once you get past the half way positions on each frequency, it is just way to noisy. Maybe I got a bad one, who knows.

At least it is DECENT, at lowest settings as far as gaining a little bit of control.

Great in a pinch for an acoustic pedalboard. Perfect secret weapon for gigs when the Amp isn't enough or you play through a PA. It's a little buzzy but it is what it is.

I'm a pedal junkie, but this is my first Danelectro. Works surprisingly well and very quietly. Great value for the price. Definitely worth a try, especially if you don't have a multi-band equalizer already in your signal chain.
