I like DanElectro hardware, particularly its 'retro' style. Although a non-metal body, the slider controls are firm and tight with a decent selection of frequency notches (as well as separate gain slider). Only first-impression negative may be it's a bit too small; but if that's why it's comparatively inexpensive, then it's all good.
Of course it is new, and not extensively road-tested, nor used long enough to judge durability—that'll just take time. But for the price, hard to find fault, since it does as advertised. What more can you really ask?

The Danelectro Fish and Chips EQ may be an inexpensive dish, but it's NOT worth gambling on IMHO. For starters, the plastic body/jacks and exposed switch design are fragile. I've owned two of these pedals and gigged one for about three seasons. One day, with no warning, mine simply died (only makes an ear-shattering scream). The replacement I bought failed after a mere day of light use and made the same noise (note: I want my AXE to scream, not the pedal). I returned it to MF and paid the difference for a Boss, thus completing my Danelectro "catch and release."

After my negative experiences with the brand, I can't recommend Danelectro--not to newbies and not even to bargain-hounds. Musicians need reliable equipment. If an "economy pedal" fails and must be returned/replaced after only a few seasons (or days), then how economical is it really? For gear less-likely to let you down and cause you heartburn, pass on the Fish and Chips and instead pay the money for a Boss or MXR . . . at least until Danelectro decides to freshen up this offering.

Comments about Danelectro DJ14 Fish and Chips 7-Band EQ Pedal:

I wanted to make sure an equalization pedal would tame an unruly amp with too much mid to low freq. before I dropped a bunch a cash on a high priced one. Wow, what a difference this pedal made. I read some reviews about this being noisy, not a problem. I think I'll save my money and buy some more danelectro pedals.

Comments about Danelectro DJ14 Fish and Chips 7-Band EQ Pedal:

This is a great EQ pedal for the price. Both my amps have limited EQ, so I ordered this to help me dial in my sound. I must say that it does a fantastic job for something low budget. I have not had the opportunity to compare it to a more expensive EQ pedal, but if you are debating whether or not you need an EQ, get the Fish and Chips and you'll be glad you did!

Comments about Danelectro DJ14 Fish and Chips 7-Band EQ Pedal:

For a unit this cheap, I didn't expect much. I needed an EQ to help my hybred Vox amp bump a few frequencies to help cut through a live mix (Fletcher–Munson effect). The amp sounded really good alone, but with a band sounded like a blanket covered it. I didn't know if an EQ would work and didn't want to spend loads of money trying to find out. I was amazed that this little unit brought out the missing frequencies that the tone controls on the amp couldn't do and did it quietly. Very please with the purchase.

Very nice unit for the money, I use it on my acoustic before running into the sound board.

I love retro stuff and Danelectro is all about retro..was excited about getting this..it was cheap and had good reviews. The first 2 weeks it was great..then it started getting very noisy. Then the high pitch squeals started..at gigs of course. Had to remove it from my set-up. It would probably work fine for home use...I wouldn't play shows with it.. replaced it with an old school MXR model.

Comments about Danelectro DJ14 Fish and Chips 7-Band EQ Pedal:

I'm using this eq with my acoustic pu, a l r baggs I beam. Having control over every octave of the sound makes a significant difference--I get the best replication of my acoustic's sound boosting at 100 hz, and cutting at 200hz, then making other minor 'tweaks'(usually a few decibels) based on the system I am going through and the style of music I'm playing. I think this modestly priced unit does well at not coloring the sound or adding artifacts. Of course, with eq its is important to subtract rather than boost in most instances to keep the sound realistic and to avoid hiss.

My biggest problem was that the instrument input open on our church PA rendered my guitar tinny and gutless.I was thrilled with the change this lightweight, ridiculously affordable little tool evoked.
