Had this little pedal for years. Spent hours with a Line 6 trying to get the delays right for "U2's Streets Have No Name" and not til I pulled this out did a get a resounding "whatever you are using now KEEP IT" from a person I know who is a U2 fanatic. OK, so it is not in the same league and the rack mounted Korg delays or even the Line 6 DL4, etc. but it has had intermittant use over the years and has lived on my pedal board for the last two years next to my vintage and boutique pedals and has held it's own. The only complaint I have with it is I wish it were bigger for my big feet since I do use both long and short delay features. Mine has never gone "noisy" like some of the other reviews. Great little pedal.

I was fairly pleased with this delay. It sounded just fine for several weeks. It has a quick delay switch or long delay, which is a nice feature, except the switches are too close together so that hitting the switch you want actually took a bit of practice. The big problem was that after a couple of weeks the pedal got really noisey -- created a lot of distortion even when it was off. I sent it back and ordered a digitech, which is almost twice the price. I hope it works better.

I own this pedal and i have to say. this is a good pedal. It's shape is a little awkward, but if i were designing a delay, i would do it this way. although i would put the inputs and out puts on the sides. But that doesn't matter. this PB&J is tasty1 the two speeds comes in handy.

It's a great pedal that I used until it broke. Remember, dano's are bad for the road. It's more of an echo pedal than a delay as the long selection isn't long really, at all.
Comments about Danelectro DJ17 PB and J Delay Pedal:
This little thing is capable up to 1 sec of delay, but keep in mind that is not digitally controlled although is digital effect, so the same settings on two days will sound different. It emulates a sort of an analog effect, so the repeats even at full mix will fade out, even the first repeat. Is 9v so does not have headroom, a very light OD in front of it will make it clip, so a FX loop placement is necessary. Buttons are difficult to engage quickly when not aimed before. Compared to a DE-7 Ibanez, it sounds a little bit warmer, on the analog side, but lacks of features (time, type of delay). Important thing, it eats up A LOT LESS power than other 9V delay pedals, both on adapter and battery.
Comments about Danelectro DJ17 PB and J Delay Pedal:
This is a great digital delay unit for the money. The ability to give short and long delay is a definite plus and the electronic engineers have done their homework, by setting all controls to 12 oclock gives classic delay in long mode and a thick small room delay in short mode. However there is a downside that keep me from scoring a perfect 5 for this unit. Construction was such that both foot activation switches had to be shimmed up to activate the electronics consistently. This flawed an otherwise great unit.
Comments about Danelectro DJ17 PB and J Delay Pedal:
I owned this pedal and really liked the warm analog delay tones. This is a quality sounding pedal. However, it is nearly impossible to engage the pedal due to the tiny buttons. You really have to toe it just right (sometimes several toe pushes) to get it to engage or disengage.

I got this pedal just for the price, but I was wowed over by it! It is great for bending/tremelo solos. There are a couple of down sides. The first one is it is hard to push the buttons with your toe( this has messed up at least one performance.) Its knobs are very delicate and even though mine has a metal cover it scrathes easily. There was also a flaw that made it better it can bend the pitch when I play with the speed knob. Over all though, it is my favorite pedal.
Comments about Danelectro DJ17 PB and J Delay Pedal:
I bough this pedal wanting a delay that could switch from long to short with the push of a button. There are only a few delay pedals with this feature: Some boutique pedals, the line 6 dl4 (can you say overkill??) and this one. I got it thinking it was analog, and soon found out it is not (I don't know if danelectro makes analog pedals at all), but anyway, it sounds like it still. I don't use delay that much, but when I need it, this beauty does the trick. There are three controls to adjust the 'mix, speed, repeats' which all work great. No separate controls for short/long, but dan-o makes it work just fine. The pedal sounds great, repeats get darker and darker, which I think sounds fantastic, especially for digital. All in all, this is a great delay pedal if you want something to fool around with, but also with the capable of seriousness. Check it out, besides, anythings better than a boss.
Comments about Danelectro DJ17 PB and J Delay Pedal:
I bought one of these a couple of years ago, and it never worked more than an hour each time I used it. It would start distorting and squealing until I tapped on it and most of the time that wouldn't work. I went back to my old DOD delay, which I had since the early 80's.Danelectro pedal products are priced cheap because they are cheap....in quality!Save your money and buy a good delay over a hundred bucks or more!
