Don't just play it, SAY it!

Everybody from Joe Walsh to Peter Frampton has used this fantastic effect, now you can have the same effect in a simpler, more economical form. It's wild, it's groovy, it's cool, it's so retro it hurts! No need for an external mic or for connecting to the back of the amp. This little unit does it all.

Features

  • New mic-free, plug and play technology
  • Groovy retro look

Make that thing TALK! It's the most fun effect ever. Go for it!

I always wanted a talk box but didn't have the money for an expensive one, so I bought this Dano Free Speech model a few years ago. It does feedback, especially when I put it in my Vintage Series Encore 65 Peavey amp, but moving myself in a different spot fixed that. As far as playing it on stage, I don't really do that any more, so it works well in my situation. In my opinion, it's a great pedal and worth the money. A great deal, too. I can actually talk through it, and there's no problem hearing the words. It makes a great wah sound, too. Everyone who hears it is impressed. Even though I was a little embarassed at the beginning (thinking it wasn't a "pro" pedal), I felt much better when I saw the great reviews and heard the sound clips. I have other Danelectro effects pedals as well - digital delay, vibrato, flanger, slap echo, etc. I think they're a great company. I say get this thing! It's great!

While the price attracted me to this unit I have to say it didn't perform even to a minimum degree of usability. The feedback was unstopable when played through the amp. The volume was way too low to use through the PA.Subsequently I purchased the Banshee 2. It is the real deal. Save your money and get the real thing. Its worth it.

Comments about Danelectro Free Speech Talk Box:

Do Not Buy This Unit if You are a Serious Guitar Player! I've been playing for over 30 years and ordered this just to use in my garage. I was excited to open the box and hook it up to my Les Paul. Then it happened! Talk About Disappointment! Little or no output to my amp and Tons of Loud, Squealing Feedback! The only positive was that the CSR at Musician's Friend was very apologetic and attentive! It's going back today! Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

This is a GREAT Buy for Rookie Talkbox Users.

Comments about Danelectro Free Speech Talk Box:

I was weary at first when I bought this because of all the bad reviews with feedback and volume. I solved these issues within the first few minutes of recieving my talkbox. If you have your amp on a distortion channel you're going to get feedback, there is no way around that. turn your amp on a clean setting because the talkbox has built in distortion and that solves your feedback problem. Then, if you have problems hearing yourself, try a new microphone. These mics aren't very good. Those are the only problems I hear about with this talkbox and I don't have them. This is a great buy for anyone interested in using a talkbox!

    Buy it, you'll like it!

    By Jeff Tauri

Comments about Danelectro Free Speech Talk Box:

Once you get the hang of it. You'll use if more then your wah, and I have a nice wah pedal.
It takes a while to get the hang of it. I read the complaints about the feedback. Just turn the volume and growl down on the unit. One song I play is clean except when I'm in talk box mode so there's no problem. When I have to use it with the gain on my amp turned up, I turn the volume down on the unit. It's a minor hassle for the result you're looking to achieve. Sure beats having to have an extra channel on the board and running your guitar sound through the P.A.
I thought it was goingto be a piece of plastic btu I was suprised it was cast and built well.
For the price and ease of use. It's worth it!

    Good for the price

    By Greyback

Comments about Danelectro Free Speech Talk Box:

I was looking for a talk box to get up on the techniques. This is an affordable unit and it's a great practice talk box, as well as playing loud. I've had this for about a year and only had to replace the mic and mouth tube once, using it a lot. Just watch out for the feedback. For recording, I went directly into a laptop from the pedal and it worked like a charm, nice resonation in the mix.If you want a tank-built pedal and don't mind spending a little every six months for a new tube, this is priced reasonably enough.Getting words to be understandable wasn't too difficult for me, and it's fun to mess with.

    Great practice talk-box

    By Thy Holy Cheesus

    from Kingsport, Tn

Comments about Danelectro Free Speech Talk Box:

I just got this in today and its a whole lot of fun. Out of the package, you get: the Danelectro Free Speech Talk Box, which is built like a tank, and long tube, and some little plastic mics. Its a good way to experience a talk-box if you've been wanting one with out the head aches and the big price to pay. Just spending time with this thing is fun, probably the funnest effect out there. Now the bad things. Well, its not very loud, and its not a good idea to use any louder than it gets. I didn't get much of a feedback problem as these other people, but it was still there, and turning and the "volume" and "growl" knobs doesn't seem to do a thing.SO basically, this is a pretty sweet practice talk-box you can use until you can afford a much louder one.

I'v had the free speech for about a 3 weeks and I love it. It has a great price and great sound. I can play alot of Frampton hits on it but some words you just say get out very well. It was well worth it.

Great value in a box that makes a real statement

    By Esteban-7cnyb

    from Lexington, KY

Comments about Danelectro Free Speech Talk Box:

Our band at church was given the assignment of recreating a 1987 feel to our service at our 20th anniversary. I chose Bon Jovi's song "Living On a Prayer" as a song to get the crowd going. None of our guitarists owned a talk box, so I went shopping and bought this because of the price. The "Free Speech" performed quite admirably. We got the sound we wanted at a great price, and the crowd went crazy. We did have some issues with feedback, since we had quite a lot of stage volume. Who doesn't when dealing with a new piece of equipment? But, we worked them out with the A/B switch idea, sending the signal directly to our sound system, and it worked perfectly. Buy it and be prepared to get creative with your routing in your individual band setting.
