I've always been a metal-head, so I have always been on a quest for heavier distortion. My holy grail has always been the original DOD Grunge distortion. I took a break from guitar for a while and played bass, but recently got back to my first love. Unfortunately, I've had to rebuild my setup from scratch because I traded all for bass stuff. My first pedal since I've been buildingwas Boss DS-1 since I don't think that the Digitech Grunge sounds like the original. I wasn't floored by it's sound, though I was impressed by its intensity being the entry-level distortion. Today I upgraded to the Delta Lab MD-1. thought it was better than DS-1 at the store, but am thoroughly impressed with it now that I have it in my rig! So glad I bought it! much more saturation than I expected! I'm not sure I'll let go of this one there is such a wide rang of tones available in this little sucker! I gave it a 4.5 for features only because I wish it had a 3-band eq to further fine tune the tones, but all in all a great bang for the buck! If this is your first foray into the heavier side of distortion, start here!

Aside from the "iffy" stomp button, this pedal delivers the perfect sound for pure metal, neo-classical, heavy rock, whatever sound it would take to thoroughly annoy your neighbors. Lucky for me, my neighbors are VERY understanding and patient. I had tried, and the sales associate attempted with gusto to sell me, pedals that were twice the price or more, but I was completely taken by the simple look of the Deltalab pedals. I'm Finnish, so I always feel that the simpler, the better. The smell of the metal is awesome. I tried this one, and was totally taken by the sound after one scale run. I bought the 2 year warranty, as I do with every purchase I make. As I said, not every pedal works with every amp and guitar rig, nor do they work with every ear. Always take your time and explore every possibility. I will purchase every stomp box Deltalab has on the market.
Very user friendly. It's very easy to dial in the sound that fits for me.
I gave it a 9 on quality becuase I'm leary as to how long the stomp button will last, but I bought it with the 2 year warranty, so I'm not too worried. The sound quality outweighs the concern.
I gave this pedal a 10 because, for the price, for ANY price for that matter, one can get the metal distortion that is crystal clear with wonderful sustain. Keep in mind, however, that not every pedal works with every amp. I simply find myself very thankful that I found a brand that works for my setup. The fact that Deltalab is so affordable is like icing on a very delicious cake.

    Great While It Lasted

    By Jackson Clemmer

    from Florida

Comments about DeltaLab MD1 Metal Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

It was great while it lasted, but 2 1/2 months isn't worth it.
Pretty simple. 3 knobs, true-bypass, but the footswitch wasn't very good.
This is a great sounding pedal. When I had it I didn't have much to compare it to, but now I appreciate more how great the sounds were. However, these sounds only lasted me about 2 1/2 months. The footswitch was always a little bit weird to click, and then it started only working half the time, then not at all. 10 on sound, 0 on durability.
I'm just going to assume that mine was a dud. If you get one of these that lasts, for the price, it's a steal. However, be aware of possible breakage.

just a great pedal with great features at a great price
tried them all, from boss to digitech to rocktron and even maxon. metal pedals just cant escape that nasally sound,...but for the price and true bypass, its a great pedal to have for some heavy riffing that doesnt look childish!
quality seems a+ along with a 3 year warranty
just my opinion for what i will be using this for, but true bypass, no crazy names or paint and price well worth it!

    Ehh

Comments about DeltaLab MD1 Metal Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I'm not really sure why everyone thinks this is a fantastic pedal. I thought that since it was a "metal" pedal it would be good for that genre. For lead work definitely but palm muting sound freaking terrible with this thing. The notes are sustained for a really short time which makes it sound like you're playing through a little practice amp. Luckily for me, I got a great deal for this thing used. Better than a ds-1 I would admit but not even close to my metal muff. You could do worse.

Great Distortion Not MAtter What Your Style

Comments about DeltaLab MD1 Metal Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

While I was looking for an upgrade for my DOD Supra Distortion, a friend told me about this. So I figured what have I got to lose besides $40. I was blown away. Not only is the tone full of vintage spice, it also handles high register notes pretty well without completely destroying them like some pedals I've had from before. I have it hooked up through a Vox Hand wired amp, and it gives me plenty of good vintage, while also handling the Thrash and Nu Metal styles I love so much.

    Perfect Tone

    By foat6six6

Comments about DeltaLab MD1 Metal Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I finally found an affordable metal distortion that matches the tone I use for recording with my line6 guitar port. It's basic setup cuts down the tweaking I'd have to do with some of the more top end pedals I've used in the past. Works awesome combined with my modded Fender Frontman 212.

ive been playing guitar for about 3yrs. now and this is one of the best distortion pedals that ive used. ive played BOSS, Danelectro, and any others you can think of and this blows them away. i play a shecter classic damien series through a peavey duce, and it sounds great. for this price you wont find anything better.

    Not that bad...

Comments about DeltaLab MD1 Metal Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I have a boss ds-I and the distortion is extremly thin and annoyingly crappy. This delta lab though is ,while not the best, is definetly worth the money. I plug into a marshall combo and get tones from death metal to power, and to vintagy tones. the only setback is that the gain knob doesnt back down too much to allow semi clean tones. I combined the 2 pedals and got a very nice metal tone, but with plenty of feedback too. A great overall petal though.

    Not good at all.

    By Austin-2aXpE

Comments about DeltaLab MD1 Metal Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I can't say more than it is terrible. Not only is the sound underwhelming, but it has no reliability. I have been through four in the past six months. I have never gigged with it, never stomped on it, and press the button with my hand almost more than my foot. Thankfully it has a five year warranty, so you can get more when they break. The distortion is much thinner than a comparable boss pedal, and it is much more noisy. I would never suggest this pedal to anyone.
