Solo players can do pre recorded tracks of your own original songs from your recordings and showcase your artistry. Many players are being discovered in pubs this very method. Also very nice for coming up with ideas and jamming to music that you either overdub tracks, learning parts or just want to practice along with cover tunes. Because of the SD card, there is never a concern with memory since it holds 200 slots and 16 hours of track selections. One of my favorite ways to use this looper is to play guitar riffs to it that are going directly into it clean while coming out into an amp or multi fx pedal so that Iyou can then play the clean riffs on infinite looping mode while tweaking and fine tuning fx settings. For this function alone it us a real gem. First off while you are playing half your focus is on playing. When you are not playing and only listening you can use all of your focus on critical listening and tweaking. Also no two riffs are ever played exactly the same and they will be the same in this manner. Then you can a/b two different pedals to compare or play a song part from a CD and really try to get that sound. People really get a kick out of watching me play a rhythm track followed by a lead in a live setup it makes them really feel like they are a part of the show, kinda like a magician might make you feel while your watching his magic. Saving your guitar riffs allows you to change equipment and still make sure your tones are sounding good because you can record your riffs totally clean from the guitar and then have the fx sound also recorded. Then you can tweak away to really play with the mix and get the sound you really like. Computer traps you into the fx of software but I getter better fx through outboard multi fx. I have used this technique to endless efficiency in studio sessions. The best practice pedal you can get for the money. It will make you a much better player in just weeks. It also has free software to move tracks around. Nice Pedal.

I have been using Jamman Solo for a years and before that I used Boss RC-2. The only my complain about Jamman Solo looper was the number of external loops it supported (100) and rather difficult procedure to replace the SD-card in order to switch to another bank of external loops. Jamman Solo XT betas both of the above devices.
Device itself is designed perfectly and functions great and reliably providing setereo I/O. Easy access to the side inserted micro-SD card up to 32G in order to quickly replace the banks of externally saved loops. Excellent sound quality and many more pros.
The problems began when you run the applicable host software - Jammanger Solo XT in order to save your prerecorder loops from PC into the device. This application looks to be deigned by a diletant programmer (probably a university student) without good testing. Software is very slow, has a lot of bugs, requires you to wait for a long time in order to change the loop properties and play the loop on PC, and many more. Also, I had accumulated a large library of loops (about 500) along the years with my previous Jamman Solo device hosted by previous release of Jammanager application. New Jammanger XT application does not allow me to import old library to the new environment. It tooks me about two days to do this manually. Very bad unprofessional software design eating up a lot of your time and requiring a lot of patince. Moreover, it even has problems with installation onto Windows XP, although installs great on Windows 7.
Digitech has poor support and looks to be not interested to receive custmer suggestion and to improve the software.
Meanwhile, I'm looking to refuse using the Jammangare XT sowtware and will be managing my loops manually via PC by installing micro-SD card into the card reader and writing loops directy via PC as onto external disk.
Once you are not experienced PC user, I would not recommend to buy this device until Digitech will significantly redesign the software.

Comments about DigiTech JMSXT JamMan Solo XT - Stompbox Looper with Stereo I/O and Sync:

I don't have hands-on experience with other loopers but I wish I'd shopped around more. This is because of the JamManager XT software that you use with the Jamman Solo. It is probably the worst and most amateurish software I have used in the last decade. It is like something out of the mid 90s. You get simple websites nowadays that are more sophisticated than this garbage software.

Unbelievably, you can't drag and drop except from your PC to the software "Library." Within the software, you can't drag and drop anything. To move things around, you have to copy and paste then go back and delete what you copied. But when you point at anything to do this, it isn't even highlighted so be careful.

As for the external disk, you are limited to 200 loops. I don't know what the other reviewers are talking about. You can't just copy loops to the microSD and use them. Sure, you could copy your device-stored loops onto the microSD, or create them on the disk, then copy from the microSD to your PC. But you can't just plug in a microSD full of new loops from another source and expect the device to read them.

It would be great if the looper could do that, as so many other smart devices on the planet can, but it can't. Not only that, the software doesn't detect music files unless you have created them with the device or copied via the software. The lack of this functionality is a huge missed opportunity.

It's not just the lacking functionality that is frustrating, but the enormous amount of time wasted when waiting for the software to finish "Reading loop from device." This is especially if you have backing tracks a few minutes long. Every single track on the external micro disk has to be "read" when selected. Also, if they are "single," you have to click every one to change them to "loop" in the Options. You can bulk copy but you can't do simple bulk changes, you know, like you can with real software.

What a time waster. And with all those loops, I thought I could perhaps export a list of what's on the device or microSD, instead of trying to remember what goes with what number. Forget it. You can't even export or copy the list of items from the software into Excel. I had to take a screen shot and covert the image to text.

As far as I'm concerned there is no excuse in this day and age for such poorly conceived and appallingly bad software. It's as if it was an after-thought but done with no thought for customers.

So I feel that this device is not worth the money overall and my experience has made me rather biased against Digitech. I even contacted Digitech support to give feedback about the software but got no reply.

Before I buy any more products from Digitech, I'll be thoroughly investigating the supplied software against what competitors have to offer and purchase accordingly.

Comments about DigiTech JMSXT JamMan Solo XT - Stompbox Looper with Stereo I/O and Sync:

I own three different loopers and this is the one I use the most (with the extension FS3 footswitch) - being able to link up more than one and create multiple phrases with their own time lengths is critical for me. Not hard to get the hang of it, I'll be using mine to rehearse, write and perform. Being able to save while the loop is playing, then save to the next memory slot for overdubbing, then being able to switch between loops without any delay or latency is something not many loopers do. The software is lame but I just drop my card into the computer and copy my loops that way - don't need the software. Check out Rejyna on YouTube for my JamMan vids if you want to see/hear it in action.

Comments about DigiTech JMSXT JamMan Solo XT - Stompbox Looper with Stereo I/O and Sync:

Let me start by saying that I absolutely LOVE this little device. It is like having a mini pro-recording studio at your feet. I use it with the expandable Micro-SD card, and I have zero qualms about running out of virtual space. There is a learning curve, because this thing does A LOT of stuff, it is so much more than a mere little looper/recorder. I put it on my rig, it is connected to my RP1000 --> the TRIO, ---> being the JAM MAN the last part before it goes to the mixer/amp. I have been able to arrange some performances with the entire band prerecorded and I can just sing on top of it, or mix it with my guitar. It gives me such a peace of mind that I can back up my loops (even duplicate them in the same device and make different versions of a loop), or even swap cards. I have not yet tried to software so I cannot attest that. However, it has greatly exceeded the expectations for why I purchased it. When you get it (because you should, trust me, you'll be glad you did) Just do yourself a favor and take a glance at the instructions before you start playing with it. It does a lot of stuff and even though the controls seem simple enough, there is a lot more than what meets the eye. The sound is great -- I cannot wait to get more savvy with it to see how far I can push this little gadget. Definitely love our friends from DIGITECH and their products. By the way, I used the little FS3X little pedal attachment, and it makes it a lot easier to navigate while performing. Thank you Musician's Friend for making these available! I'm a happy customer.

I had a Boss Rc-2 looper for years and traded it so I decided to give this pedal a try and I'm glad I did. I like it much more then the Boss pedal and there is tons of storage. Playback is clear with no tone loss and it's a great addition to my pedal board. Easier to operate then the boss pedal too.

Comments about DigiTech JMSXT JamMan Solo XT - Stompbox Looper with Stereo I/O and Sync:

Jamming along to the shred is totally killer with this pedal brah. I perform with an Orange th30 head, and there is tone loss using this pedal (which I suppose is expected because it's digital). The quality isn't poor, but it's not great either.
But with that said it does what it says, loops, stores audio using aux and playback is great during my lame alternate tunings during shows.
There's only a record/dub/play function. So if you're planning on heading to your local college to use your acoustic guitar as percussion, then strings, keyboard, saxophone, and maybe throw in some didgeridoo, you may need a different pedal. But if you're looking for a simple pedal to smash to, this is it.

i've just started using this product for a solo performance project i'm working on and am enjoying the process of creating loops that will add an extra layer of sound to the songs. it's been a fun and creative tool but i haven't had it long enough to know about its reliability. it's a great way to practice guitar scales & solos, like having a friend that will never get sick of playing the same riff over and over again. the limitation for live performance is that your amp setting will determine the tone of the loop playback.

TO make best use of this pedal, you will need to read and re-read your owners manual. Once you do this and spend several hours with the unit , you will like it, and make use of all it can do. I've had 4 jammans, and they seem to be nice units , but all of them have a serious design flaw. YOU CAN'T RESET THE VOLUME LEVELS BETWEEN LOOPS. in other words: loop 1 may be softer than loop 6 , loop 9 may be too loud to use. THIS IS A BIG ISSUE ! Digitech's online tech people are of no help, and that Jammanager web page is of no value ! Just buy any Jamman and have fun with it, but understand they all have this GIANT design flaw!
