Digitech RP 355 Multi-Effects Pedal

Features:

This pedal has all of the features that an up-and-coming musician could possibly want. High quality amps, cabs, and distortions make this a perfect pedal for a progressive rock (not metal) player. With the amount of amps on here, it is very versitile if you plug your headphones in, and you can jam. It also runs very well behind my Marshall MG-30FX amp.

Quality:

This pedal holds very high quality for the price. I get no noise from this pedal at all, and it is equipped with true bypass, making it by far the best pedal I've ever owned. This pedal is also built like a tank. I could drop it down a flight of stairs and it would come out unscathed (That doesn't mean I'm going to.) The pedal can also mimic some very famous tones. I've perfectly copied the tones of early Rush, The Beatles, Zakk Wylde, and even ZZ Top. This pedal can do all the musical styles I want, but still keep the integrity of my own sound.

Value:

For the price, I would take this over any other pedal any day. The way it plays and the way the user interface works, I'll have this pedal in my rig for a long time.

Overall:

I love this pedal, and it is a very good product (as are all from Digitech), but if you want a pedal that doesn't copy amps, I would recommend that you go with the RP1000, mostly because you can just press one button and turn the amp feature off. But other than that slight complaint, I love this pedal, and I can't wait to see what it sounds like when I grab the new Marshall JVM amp that I'll be using for gigging. I would recommend this pedal, both as a guitarist, and a longtime Digitech user.

Good deal for price. Not made in USA. Those two usually go together.

I bought the RP355 online, in part, because I thought it was made in the USA, as the misleading product photo shows. It's not; the device that arrived in the mail read "Made in China."   *******  I have owned this pedal for 14 months.   One of its great advantages is that it is computer friendly. Definitely get a USB cable with it. Unlike the Boss line of ME pedals, it can interface with Windows or a Mac but it's hard to edit this pedal as a standalone device. Beating Boss, however, is your ability to tinker with preset sounds on your computer and then save your changes. The software replicates the pedal on your monitor and you can twist the "dials" and levels this way and that to craft your sounds. It's even simple to create a backup of all your presets on your computer. Once, I had to reset the device back to its default because the expression pedal quit working, and five minutes later, I had all my hours worth of editing presets right back on the device. It was easy. You won't be able to do any of this without the USB cable which you need to purchase separately (I got this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004Z5M1/ref=oh_o03_s00_i00_details).   Many of the presets will appeal to your playing style. They are a good mix of sounds and genres. However, that also means, like me, you probably won't use a bunch of the presets. There are two banks, one with the factory presets, the other bank an exact mirror of the factory presets which you can edit to your own particular style, modifying the factory preset or creating a new preset from the ground up. You can even rename presets and you'll see your names (up to six letters or so) on the digital readout. I think that's kind of cool. Also, you can reorder the presets and put, say, your favorite eight sounds and banks 1-8. I found that to be super useful.   The looper is decent and great for jamming at home but I soon discovered it robs this device of a bit of its functionality: for example, once you start looping, you can't switch between amp A and amp B and you can't enter stomp mode. After I got a separate looping device, I could really unlock this device.  Another problem is that it is kind of ugly and there is a lot of wasted space on the top. My friend plays an ME-70, and looks-wise, it puts this thing to shame.   The little rubber pads on the bottom began falling off after about 9 months of so of light use around the house.  The expression pedal is pretty cool but probably pale in comparison to most standalone pedals. I just ordered a wah pedal to open things up a bit.  My final beef: some of the sounds get kind of digital sounding. I guess that is the trade of from spending the thousands of dollars it would take to have all these sounds through little pedals versus dropping a small fee on the RP 355.  And finally, despite its shortcomings, I plan to use this puppy for a while yet. It can really make your guitar sing without robbing it of its identity.

Features:

This is a nice pedal that has about every cabinet, amp and mix you could want.  As you go thru the banks, you can envision the bands using that mix, they are that good.  The Metallica patch is spot on!  You will think you're Kirk firing it up.  If you want really whammy, you'll need a separate pedal as the whammy doesn't mix the patches very well using the expression pedal.  It has little range, but enough on the patches that it is built for.

I'm coming off of an RP-2000 (older model), they seem to go backwards on numbering.  But I'm learning this one and need to program some of my own patches to build a bank to gig with.  The factory patch sets are not close enough together to stomp-while-playing, so I'll have to build my own that are a step or two off from each other.

My 2000 has more stomp buttons and "banks" of patches.  This one really doesn't, but the sounds are more pristine.

All in all, what I've seen and heard so far is pretty good.  I just need to get it ready to perform with.

Features:

If there's anything to like about this pedal, its the features. The combinations are endless, from presets to amp models to the effects to the looper, this thing can keep you busy. I've owned it for about 4 months and still haven't toggled with half the stuff the Digitech can do.

Overall it's a great pedal with a ton of features, not to mention great quality and value. My only compaint is that there's no on/off switch. You plug it in and it turns on. So basically unless you want it on all the time, its always being plugged in and out of walls.

I use this pedal for recordings, shows, and everything in between. Love it!

Digitech RP355

Features:

I just recieved this the other day and, all I can say is WOW! Everything about this unit is superb. Right out of the box and, into your amp instant playing, the factory presets are done very well and, if you want to tweak them you have just as many user presets to do anything that your heart desires but the really cool thing is that you cannot make a mistake because the factory presets will always be there. The Xedit feature that will let you go to your PC and, make changes to the programs  is super easy and, fast, plus you can hear the changes instantly! I am not a knob twiddler because when on stage I want instant results with the touch of a foot pedal and, this unit will do just that. Make your changes at home and set up your programs before you take this to the gig and, just enjoy. I also love the fact that you can name your user made presets and assign them to any user number that you want. The stompbox feature is an added plus in that you can add or remove effects to any preset that you have selected. There are so many features built into this unit that at first it appears to be mind boggling but all you have to do is look at the manual and, just work with this finely made unit and, it just becomes a breeze. I have tried other single pedals and, multi effects pedals and, this one is so far ahead of the rest that there really is not any one out there that compares feature wise, sound, and, quality. I also have a Digitech Harmony Man that I feel equally good about but, when I was going through presets not only was there a harmony and, an octave preset but also a whammy preset, Unbelieveable! I have just realized that I could on and on about this unit, so just get this thing and enjoy! you'll love it!

Quality:

Built like a tank and, looks very professional.

Value:

For the features that are in this unit it is a steal!

Overall:

Just buy this thing. You"ll have a blast.................
