I am very poor, so I am currently running my guitar through a Crate Keyboard amp that really, just makes everything sound bad. I bought this way back when I was a beginner, then stuck it in a corner after getting a Boss DS1, not knowing of it's greatness. After a while, and learning about "good tone", I decided to pull this out again, and boy was I wrong to ever put that away. The pedale has this great Fender Blackface setting that puts justice to my amp. Although, I wouldn't really agree with the distortions that this thing has. I recommend you place an overdrive in front of it and you're good. I use an Ibanez TS-7)All my single effects I place in front of this thing. To add to all that, it also gave me reverb, yet another thing my amp is not equipped with. It's also just fun to experiment with the effects that you wouldn't really use. So basically, this thing makes for a great amp with reverb.

You pay for what you get. I got this in a trade today and it's kind of a tradition for me to review stuff on here. Why is this so highly rated it must be an army of 13-14 year olds or something! ok so if you get a line 6 pod 2.0 even it will blow this out of the water.

what do I like about it
the drum machines a nice touch
the tuner helps a lot
its small and easy to store
80 effects for beginners
you can switch effects easily with your feet

what don't I like about it
*adjusting the say gain of your amp, the intensity of the effects or anything isn't as hands on as I'd like it. If you've played with processors before stay away from this , you'll get bored fast! the interface isn't the easiest to figure out but I couldn't turn off the effecrs to get just a straight up metal sound so this wouldn't have even made it out the door if it was my processor.

*99% of the tones are god awful no rock god to
nbody in a bar band would use half of the presets with intense chorus and flangers , sure you get 80 presets and they're marketed towards a gigantic audience but it's just something for stupid kids and even more stupid parents to clap their hands and say WOW I WANT IT I'LL BE USING THESE EFFECTS FOREVER.

so although you get all kinds of effects and presets I cannot see myself writing music with this, you need to be able to custom tailor some sounds. The overall sound of it all with or without an amp is sterile and lifeless. If I had one of these when I was 13 I probably wouldn't be here right now. Seriously save up for a pod or something better! easier to use , way better in sounds. The only reason this gets a 2 star is it's 100x better than any beginner amp I played. I'll never use digitech processors again.

Nice effects pedal.

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

This effects pedal is very nice for the price and if you play guitar and are thinking about buying this, buy it. Effect numbers 1 - 40 already have effects on them but you can edit and change them however you want. Numbers 41 - 80 are set effects that you cant change but can put them in spaces 1 - 40. The effects are pretty awesome and if you create your own effect the possibilities are endless. There is also a pretty cool drumset backing track. Overall I really love this effects pedal. The tuner isn't the greatest so you might want to have your own.

One great pedal

By Spawnofbuckethead2010

from Cape Girardeau Mo

See all my reviews

Our keyboardist gave up guitar and never used this pedal. (probly why I'm writing this review ;)Anyways, I love this pedal to death. I'm not paid to say this either, it works flawlessly at our practice sessions. I know that the bypass feature is kind of difficult to hit both pedals at the same time, but at least you have a bypass. And the tuner, well, lets just say its better than my guitar tuner, and it is through cables, so you can tune while your band is making noise, er, music. I have to say that this opens up much creativity, not just as a guitarist but as an experimentalist. I like some of the useless effects that are preset, they are useless, pointless, annoying screetches or bubbly 3rd below tunings that get on my nerves and I can't blend anything with. I like the digital screen and the led lights that tell me exactly what I'm doing so I don't mess anything up. And you can single out one effect, for example delay or distortion, and "model" it to what you need, and use it just like that, it has up to 2 seconds of delay!!! and this is a cheap pedal. Great product, thank you, Digitech :)

Nice little pedal

By Grungegeek87

from Hood River, OR

See all my reviews

This is great if you want to experiment with effects and don't have much money. I mostly play stripped down grunge so I didn't want to spend a lot on individual pedals but I wanted to mess around and see what I might add to my music. This is perfect for that. If I used effects more often though I would want individual pedals for more control.

Greatly exceeded my expectations

By JimmyThePainter

All I can say about this one is WOW! I couldn't resist the clearance price, so I got one to hook onto my 'Chinese Fender' that I use for noodling around on. I was hoping it might kick up the sound a little. It did that and then some! I listened to the audio clips and figured it was probably some top-notch axe and amp setup. I was blown away when my cheap guitar sounded just like the clip!! I highly recommend one before they're gone.

not a bad pedal

By Superguitarguy

from Oakland, MD

It's the only pedal I've got and I like it. To switch to bypass is a pain but still at least it has it. It's great to mess around with and i really like everything about it except than you can't blend effects, that really sucks. I mainly use the clean chorus and the rectifier distortion and sometimes the flanger and phaser because those are the very few good effects but I really like it.

I just bought this little baby, I tell ya, I'm blown away by what it can do. I have to admit to wanting to upgrade to the rp100 so i can have nobs instead of buttons, but other than than that it's freaking awesome. I'm telling ya, for the price ya just can't beat this machine. I use it thru a frontman 25r and it's the best pratice combo for the money you spend. You can get both for under ** bucks and you can't beat the sound quailty or shear number of different sounds you can get. It's really just simply, AWESOME

Great Tool if YOU set User Presets!

By Mr. Jack

Ask me a question

This is a great multi-effects pedal for the money. DigiTech has done well on amp modulation and effects. The only downside to this pedal are the Factory Presets and the plastic housing. I'd sure like to know who it is that sets up the Factory presets! I only hear three that are usable. Otherwise they are over the top and overkill on the effects. Ridiculous! However, if YOU go in and set the User Presets, you've got some nice tones to use. I recommend this for anyone who wants to experiment with tones and effects. Great tool for the money. The RP250 is Great as well.

First multi effects pedal I ever owned

By Vaughn Band Rockstar

from San Antonio, Tx

See all my reviews

First off, it was a really great pedal for the price. It comes with over 80 presets with the ability to create your own. It has a factory reset that comes in handy when you want to erase everything and start from scratch. It sounds amazing if you have a good ear for creating your own presets. I do have a few things I disliked about it though. The tuner had to be tweaked even after the factory reset which I believe a few of them had some firmware issues after leaving the factory. Last but not least, Even though you have the ability to create presets there was a 1 second mute when switching your presets, so if you plan on using this pedal for live music you're going to want to stay on the same preset. Over all It's perfect for the studio direct in recording or amp miked.

Great sound and price!

This guitar processor rules the second it arrived at my front door and I plugged it into my amp I fell in love with it instantly. I was using just the D.O.D Death Metal pedal before this and was getting bored without any additional effects. This Processor has just as good if not better Distortion as the D.O.D and plenty of other great effects. Digitech has definately created a winner with the RP50.

RP50 rocks!

By Prahl51

from Wausau WI

I am an intermediate guitarist and found this item to be a nice addition to keeping my interest in playing. It is plastic but it has a real solid feel, not at all cheesy. A lot of the effects sound the same, but that just gives you more spaces to customize your own sounds.

Great for the price!!!

By Brad5150-T6BwU

from South Carolina USA

Well i used to have a Boss ME-33 which took care of everything i needed..but then i got the morley bad horsie 2 waa pedal, and needed cash for other things so my friend gave me his rp50 and 100 dollars for the ME-33...needless to say, if you have a waa pedal already and maybe a volume pedal, this is ALL YOU NEED!! unless your a crazy digital freak, this is a great pedal processor! it has great sounds and 80 different storage channels or w/e! if you are like me who has a crappy amp with bad overdrive, this is also awesome! it has all the tones you need for ANY STYLE OF MUSIC, and makes all amps sounds great! since im getting an amp with great overdrive soon, i will still definatley use this pedal for some notable effects: compressor, reverb, delay, phaser, flanger, noise gate, chorus, etc.!! like i say, if you have more money than get more! but if your pinching pennies, then get this and you will be set! but if youn dont have a waa pedal or volume pedal, you might wanna get the model that has the footpedal for $** more..

I bought this pedal for my birthday and I didn't think it would be any good. Wrong! For the price you can't beat it,although if you can borrow or spend the extra money, buy the RP 80. It has an expression pedal built on.Theres like 10 effects that are worth less without it. I wouldn't use it as a main pedal, but as anad on on a pedal board, due to its' size and delay switching settings or custom presets. Overall it Kicks Butt!!!

Throw Away Your Stomp Boxes!

By Adox

See all my reviews

I got rid of my stomp boxes and I use this wonderful little device now. It does everything I need, and if it don't, I just program so it will! I have used for gigs and recording, and I have no complaints so far. I know it doesn't look rugged, but you don't have to stomp the thing with your foot like a 400lb gorilla, just tap it. Take care of it and it will last.

Great Pedal

By Ben12345

from Erie, PA

I've had this pedal for about a year, and it's great especially for a guitarist on a budget. I got it just to have a bunch of effects to mess around with, and it turned out to be much better than expected. It's plastic, but it shouldnt break if you don't abuse it. The preset channels suck, there's probably 1 or 2 that I would actually use, but when you start tweaking the settings you can get some really good sounds. The tuner is a nice addition too. Complaints- there's a noticable delay when switching between channels, and the drum machine skips when you switch channels. Other than that it's a great product. For the price, don't hesitate to buy one.
