I've had it for about 6 months, and the sound it gives is absolutely incredible for such a small, cheap box. My only amp is a 30 watt Marshall, and this thing's distortion is definately at least as good as the amp's. If I ever gigged, using a bigger amp, I'd probably keep the amp clean with no reverb or anything, and just use distortion and all efects from this pedal, because that's how good the sound is. The only drawbacks are that since it's so small it's kind of difficult to use. You have to have the booklet it comes with (which is very useful) handy, unless you memorize it, when you're programming effects or you cant tell what effect you're using, since the screen can only fit 2 numbers/letters at once. Also, I'd like to maybe get a bigger model of the RP series, so I'd have an expression/wah pedal to use, because just using the auto wah isnt all that great. Also, if you're really picky about getting your sound exactly a certain way, there's not very much parameter adjusting you can do with the individual effects, like chorus for example, but the way parameters are set sounds great at least to me.The only other complaint I have is that there's hardly any bass from this pedal, even if I turn it all the way up on here. however, I just turn up the bass a little on the amp or house system I'm using, leaving everything else flat, and it can get enough bass to still sound great. One other useful tip, which I suppose works on any pedal, is that u can just put headphones straight into the output so you dont have to bother with an amp. Took me a while to figure that out, so if theres anyone as dumb as me, thats just a pointer.

You pay for what you get. I got this in a trade today and it's kind of a tradition for me to review stuff on here. Why is this so highly rated it must be an army of 13-14 year olds or something! ok so if you get a line 6 pod 2.0 even it will blow this out of the water.

what do I like about it
the drum machines a nice touch
    the tuner helps a lot
its small and easy to store
    80 effects for beginners
you can switch effects easily with your feet

what don't I like about it
*adjusting the say gain of your amp, the intensity of the effects or anything isn't as hands on as I'd like it. If you've played with processors before stay away from this , you'll get bored fast! the interface isn't the easiest to figure out but I couldn't turn off the effecrs to get just a straight up metal sound so this wouldn't have even made it out the door if it was my processor.

*99% of the tones are god awful no rock god to
nbody in a bar band would use half of the presets with intense chorus and flangers , sure you get 80 presets and they're marketed towards a gigantic audience but it's just something for stupid kids and even more stupid parents to clap their hands and say WOW I WANT IT I'LL BE USING THESE EFFECTS FOREVER.

so although you get all kinds of effects and presets I cannot see myself writing music with this, you need to be able to custom tailor some sounds. The overall sound of it all with or without an amp is sterile and lifeless. If I had one of these when I was 13 I probably wouldn't be here right now. Seriously save up for a pod or something better! easier to use , way better in sounds. The only reason this gets a 2 star is it's 100x better than any beginner amp I played. I'll never use digitech processors again.

    Great Preamp!

    By Anonymous

    from Undisclosed

I am very poor, so I am currently running my guitar through a Crate Keyboard amp that really, just makes everything sound bad. I bought this way back when I was a beginner, then stuck it in a corner after getting a Boss DS1, not knowing of it's greatness. After a while, and learning about "good tone", I decided to pull this out again, and boy was I wrong to ever put that away. The pedale has this great Fender Blackface setting that puts justice to my amp. Although, I wouldn't really agree with the distortions that this thing has. I recommend you place an overdrive in front of it and you're good. I use an Ibanez TS-7)All my single effects I place in front of this thing. To add to all that, it also gave me reverb, yet another thing my amp is not equipped with. It's also just fun to experiment with the effects that you wouldn't really use. So basically, this thing makes for a great amp with reverb.

    not a bad pedal

    By Superguitarguy

    from Oakland, MD

It's the only pedal I've got and I like it. To switch to bypass is a pain but still at least it has it. It's great to mess around with and i really like everything about it except than you can't blend effects, that really sucks. I mainly use the clean chorus and the rectifier distortion and sometimes the flanger and phaser because those are the very few good effects but I really like it.

    Greatly exceeded my expectations

    By JimmyThePainter

All I can say about this one is WOW! I couldn't resist the clearance price, so I got one to hook onto my 'Chinese Fender' that I use for noodling around on. I was hoping it might kick up the sound a little. It did that and then some! I listened to the audio clips and figured it was probably some top-notch axe and amp setup. I was blown away when my cheap guitar sounded just like the clip!! I highly recommend one before they're gone.

    One great pedal

    By Spawnofbuckethead2010

    from Cape Girardeau Mo

Our keyboardist gave up guitar and never used this pedal. (probly why I'm writing this review ;)Anyways, I love this pedal to death. I'm not paid to say this either, it works flawlessly at our practice sessions. I know that the bypass feature is kind of difficult to hit both pedals at the same time, but at least you have a bypass. And the tuner, well, lets just say its better than my guitar tuner, and it is through cables, so you can tune while your band is making noise, er, music. I have to say that this opens up much creativity, not just as a guitarist but as an experimentalist. I like some of the useless effects that are preset, they are useless, pointless, annoying screetches or bubbly 3rd below tunings that get on my nerves and I can't blend anything with. I like the digital screen and the led lights that tell me exactly what I'm doing so I don't mess anything up. And you can single out one effect, for example delay or distortion, and "model" it to what you need, and use it just like that, it has up to 2 seconds of delay!!! and this is a cheap pedal. Great product, thank you, Digitech :)

    Its not that bad

    By Anonymous

So, i got this a couple years ago. back then my only effect was distortion. but that pedal broke so i got this as a back up pedal till i got a new one. this thing has inspired me to expand my pedal board. now i have a big muff, small stone, space echo, and this. i use it as an overdrive, it gets an ok led zeppelin 2 sound distortion. i can get a little heavier distortion too. and the flanger on this pedal is great. the only thing i don't like about it is that, to bypass it you have to press both switches and sometimes that doesnt work and you will get a different sound than you want, and it sucks while playing live.

Great Tool if YOU set User Presets!

    By Mr. Jack

    from Detroit Lakes, MN

    Ask me a question

This is a great multi-effects pedal for the money. DigiTech has done well on amp modulation and effects. The only downside to this pedal are the Factory Presets and the plastic housing. I'd sure like to know who it is that sets up the Factory presets! I only hear three that are usable. Otherwise they are over the top and overkill on the effects. Ridiculous! However, if YOU go in and set the User Presets, you've got some nice tones to use. I recommend this for anyone who wants to experiment with tones and effects. Great tool for the money. The RP250 is Great as well.

    Nice little pedal

    By Grungegeek87

    from Hood River, OR

This is great if you want to experiment with effects and don't have much money. I mostly play stripped down grunge so I didn't want to spend a lot on individual pedals but I wanted to mess around and see what I might add to my music. This is perfect for that. If I used effects more often though I would want individual pedals for more control.

    Nice effects pedal.

    By Anonymous

    from Undisclosed

This effects pedal is very nice for the price and if you play guitar and are thinking about buying this, buy it. Effect numbers 1 - 40 already have effects on them but you can edit and change them however you want. Numbers 41 - 80 are set effects that you cant change but can put them in spaces 1 - 40. The effects are pretty awesome and if you create your own effect the possibilities are endless. There is also a pretty cool drumset backing track. Overall I really love this effects pedal. The tuner isn't the greatest so you might want to have your own.

First multi effects pedal I ever owned

    By Vaughn Band Rockstar

    from San Antonio, Tx

First off, it was a really great pedal for the price. It comes with over 80 presets with the ability to create your own. It has a factory reset that comes in handy when you want to erase everything and start from scratch. It sounds amazing if you have a good ear for creating your own presets. I do have a few things I disliked about it though. The tuner had to be tweaked even after the factory reset which I believe a few of them had some firmware issues after leaving the factory. Last but not least, Even though you have the ability to create presets there was a 1 second mute when switching your presets, so if you plan on using this pedal for live music you're going to want to stay on the same preset. Over all It's perfect for the studio direct in recording or amp miked.
