EASE OF USEIf you are familiar with compressors, its very easy to use. If you're not to familiar with them, its easy to overdo. Take the time to learn to use it properly and you'll be rewarded.SOUNDNice and transparent at lower compression settings. Can really mangle your tone (in a good or bad way) depending on how you use it. Some reviews I've read complain about hiss. I have tried this pedal on a couple instruments, and it only hisses with lesser pickups or a long chain of effects. It is a compressor, if your setup is noisy and sucks it will make it worse. The mixer output actually sounds pretty good straight into a board for recording. No, really. Other than that - does your bass rig sound bad? If it does, this won't help. If your setup is good but you just need a little more control or if you want to record with it- this is your pedal. Also works good to mess with guitars and add a little beef to the low end of that 7 or 8 string, but leave the highs out of it for that.

I bought this wanting something to even out my tone. I know that you do get what you pay for, especially when it comes to compressors. I was pretty satisfied when just playing with it alone, but once I used it with the band everyone could hear a difference, I liked it a lot, fattened up the bottom end, and kept my highs where I wanted them, the controls are a little awkward though.
My problem came when I noticed that when I use my active basses, and even some of my hotter passive basses, that it would overdrive the pedal. Because of that, I have taken it off my pedal board. I've read about this happening with other users too, so I don't believe I have a faulty one. I'm going to try out the Boss Limiter/Enhancer instead.
It's good for the price, as long as it works with your bass... I would definitely try it out with your rig before you purchase one.
I liked many of the features, but could be somewhat confusing and took a lot of trial and error to get what I was looking for. But like many compressors, a little will do ya, and too much will drastically change your tone.

Comments about DigiTech XBS Bass Squeeze Compressor Pedal:
I found it to be much quieter than I expected. The dual bands makes it very versatile for honing out your sound.
Comments about DigiTech XBS Bass Squeeze Compressor Pedal:
This is one of the few multi-band compressors in a guitar pedal, and it is decently priced.
The dual bands allow for near complete control over the majority of your sound. Everything is easy to use, as long as you know what a compressor does, and more sepcifically how guitar compressors differ from rack or software compressors. I do wish it had a little more control over the individual aspects of the compression, but its a guitar(bass) pedal.
The overall build is excellent, feels like you could ahve it for fifty years and it wouldnt break. The only weak point is that the hinges on the foot pedal lid are plastic, and they are attached to springs to pop in so you can remove the switch cover and replace the battery. Just get a wall adapter and make it easy on yourself.

Comments about DigiTech XBS Bass Squeeze Compressor Pedal:
I bought this pedal for my Bass rig to try and tighten things up a bit, and see if I could get any cool sounds out of it. Having used it for about a year now, I can say that it certainly works, however it is VERY easy to over-do it with this pedal.Used conservatively, this pedal can really help shape a bass tone. In some cases I use it to help brighten up the guitar a little bit by bringing out the string noise. Other times I can make the bass sound really fat and bring out it's power. But if the compression knob ever goes beyond the 9 o'clock position, things start to sound bad REALLY fast. Overall, I'd say it's a worthwhile pedal for shaping your sound; but for general compression, look to your engineer to do some real proper compression within the mix.
Comments about DigiTech XBS Bass Squeeze Compressor Pedal:
I was losing volume and tone on the top end and when slapping. This was the answer to my problem. I run an Fender Jazz Deluxe(Mexican)through an Ampeg BR2e and the 410 cab. I've never had a buzzing or hissing problem. I also use a Dunlop Bass Wah, EHX Steel Leather and a Boss tuner. Still no problem. Great buy.

Comments about DigiTech XBS Bass Squeeze Compressor Pedal:
It does what it is supposed to do with a little too much hiss; a little too lacking in the adjustability as well, but better than most pedals. SUCKS POWER AND TONE from my rig. I unplug it most of the time. Sounds better without it, but you can make some cool tones with it.
Comments about DigiTech XBS Bass Squeeze Compressor Pedal:
I purchased my pedal, it works fine and does what it is supposed to do. But the overall sound of my rig is robbed by the use of it. In short, my rig sounds better without it. I play through a Peavey T_MAx head and an SWR Goliath 3 cab. I have used mine only in rehersal applications and turned it off after just a couple of songs. I don't want to dog it, I actually had my hopes up when I bought it, but the truth is the truth. One positive is that when my strings tone begins to decay this pedal actually helps to pronounce my bass sound, but I believe that would happen with any compressor.
Comments about DigiTech XBS Bass Squeeze Compressor Pedal:
I got this pedal for Christmas and it worked for three days. Before that it worked great and then I tried to turn off and it wouldn't. The effects also quit when it wouldn't turn off; the only way it would turn off is if I would unplug it. I returned it thinking I might have just gotten a bad one so I got another, but I was wrong. My new one did the same thing five days later. We tried changing the battery but it didn't help. I talked to someone who had it and they said the same thing happened to them. Do not buy this product. You're probably better off with a Boss.
Comments about DigiTech XBS Bass Squeeze Compressor Pedal:
Increadible compressor, the two bands makes the most customizable compression ever. Out of my 9 pedal pedal board, this gets used much more than any other pedal. Be weary that digitech pedals use kinda flimsy buttons in their boxes and if you stomp on them hard (REALLY hard) they will stick easier than most.
