I guess this thing can pull off metal, but in all honesty, this pedal lacks a lot in clarity and versatility.Too much low end is muddy, but if you back it off, there isn't enough. The Morph knob is the high point with this pedal, as you CAN get a few cool sounding tones... but this simply doesn't sound that good.I played this in front of a Randall RH300 head with a Randall RS125CX cab. I play a lot of heavy music: metalcore, deathcore, death, hardcore, punk, hard rock, etc. I like my gain, but not from this. The DigiTech GRUNGE is far superior, though I won't use it for extreme metal.Ultimately, I found this pedal a disappointment. There are many dirt boxes far superior to this, including its cheaper brother the Grunge. Perhaps it just didn't agree with my particular amp, but the EQing on this is not good (needs a Mid control in the worst way). I've played many distortion pedals and this one was one of the worst, though not THE worst I've played.

Comments about DigiTech XMM Metal Master Heavy Metal Distortion Pedal:
The second best pedal around. Only the BOSS Metal Zone out-does it. Great sound and more simplified than the Metal Zone. Great for beginner and intermediates. On mine, the 9V connector broke after a year of use, but why not connect to a power supply instead. I've done that with mine and had no other problems.
Comments about DigiTech XMM Metal Master Heavy Metal Distortion Pedal:
This is by far the best heavy metal distortion petal I've ever heard.Tones and distortion settings are numerous or straight forward however you want.the morph feature rocks. It even makes my 2o watt practice amp sound awesome. Love this petal.

Now normally I'm not a huge fan of Digitech pedals because in my experience they often are too noisy but this one is the best thing I've heard out of Digitech yet. I've played around with their Grunge model before I got this pedal and now I can honestly say I'm never turning back! The fact that this pedal can model a wide variety of sounds sets it apart from all the others. Spend your money on a true metal distortion effect. Get this one.
Comments about DigiTech XMM Metal Master Heavy Metal Distortion Pedal:
This is a fantastic pedal, for most situations. You can get nearly any tone you desire, from creamy bluest tones to thick, heavy death metal tones. It's got a very clear and articulated characteristic. There's really only a few tones I use, but it's nice that I've got more options. Now, if you're looking for that fantastic Periphery-ish tone (which is my ideal tone) you won't be finding that here, but if you want any sort of typical high-gain tone(i.e., Pantera, Dream Theater, Megadeth to The Faceless, The Arusha Accord, etc.) then look no further. My only complaint is that this pedal eats up batteries like crazy.
Comments about DigiTech XMM Metal Master Heavy Metal Distortion Pedal:
I dont know where to start. This pedal is simply beautiful. You can model this pedal to ANY kind of metal, from the light and simple, to the deep demonic chaotic chord changes that are Death Metal. The morph nob(far right on the pedal) changes from extreamlly scooped from 7'o clock to 10'o clock, to a chunky rythm from 12 to 3, then a totally insane distortion that will blow away the compition. I think personally that it sounds much more natural with a battery, even though you get an average 3 to 4 hours out of it. But using an adapter, you get a more digital industrial sound out of it. Overall, I must say that this is one of the most versitial pedal I've ever used. For the price, this is a hidden jewel among the hundreds of other "metal masters." I highly recommend this pedal to ANYONE wanting to play metal, or even hard rock.

this pedal kicks butt. i can copy any kind of distortion with this thing. the lead guitarist will be playing and ill just turn the morph nod and i can sound just like him. its beautifull. thundering lows and screeching highs, and overall loudness. its great for its price. buy it now
Comments about DigiTech XMM Metal Master Heavy Metal Distortion Pedal:
I have not recieved this pedal yet, but I have played them at the guitar store and always managed to play solos that sounded great. If you feel like there is too much noise when playing a solo I suggest that you turn the high tone close to the middle, and turn the bass on your amp down and not turn the mid tone all the way down. This will help to keep feedback from beeing too loud. And for those of you who have problems with the battery, STOP USING THE BATTERY! Get yourself an AC adaptor. And just use a surge protector, and just turn the power off. This will also save you a lot of money and time. The 9 volt battery drains faster than other batteries anyway. So I suggest this stomp-box for all you metalheads out there!
Comments about DigiTech XMM Metal Master Heavy Metal Distortion Pedal:
I love this pedal. I got this pedal sometime last year and love it just as I did back then. This pedal is great for rock and metal. My only complaint is that it sounds like crap if you solo because it still you treble. Although, you can change by having some type of eq pedal before it or possibly a very low gain distortion or overdrive pedal that has an eq or tone knob on it.
Comments about DigiTech XMM Metal Master Heavy Metal Distortion Pedal:
I bought this pedal, needing something with some flexibility so i could create my own unique tone. The Morph knob does just that! Letting you pan from a classic tube crunch, to a screaming recto sound, there's no limit to the different combination. With practically no noise,I have to remind myself that it's on when I'm not playing. Solid metal casing and pads are very rugged. The mixer-out gives it a cab model, which I don't need, so I just plug my tuner in there. The only downside was the battery connection broke off the first time I had to change the battery, but I managed to replace it with a sturdier one from a certain radio store.
