This is a very cool pedal. Will give you very short and pronounced filter sounds-with a huge swoosh. I played this pedal and compared it to a Q-TRon: It Gives a more commpressed filter, shorter sustain, and gigantic swoosh. I like this pedal just as much as my Q! I also played this pedal with a bass, and found it better than any other filter that I know of for bass-Slaps sound really cool with it's swoosh-and the short sustain works well for slaps too. The only problem with this pedal a is volume drop. This is a great pedal, not just because of the price, but because of its great sounds!

Wow what a great pedal. This is the best pedal if you are trying to get that funky underwater sound. I think it is a great pedal for funk, rock, and Jazz or whatever you want to play.

Excellent Buy!

I use this pedal on bass. Sure, it cuts bottom. Sure, it cuts volume. Sure there's that rush of bass frequencies. But it's one of the funkiest filters around, trust me, I've owned them all. And at a mere forty dollars (30 apparently when not in stock) this is probably the least expensive pedal you can buy that doesn't stink!

AWESOME STOMPER FOR THE PRICE

I picked this stomp box when I saw Flea using it, and I am thrilled with the tone that this beast puts onto my bass. Very funky, and very clean.

Fair to unusable

By Rich-6BcBu

This pedal is easy to set up and use, and it sounds great. However, there is such a HUGE volume drop (close to 70%)that I really can't use it live. I've tried every configuration, power source, etc. I don't use it for every song, so I almost have to do 2 sound checks. 1 without it and another with it so the sound man knows how much he needs to crank up the mixer. I wouldn't recomend it.

A great pedal for a great price!!!!!

I got this pedal, and I love the sound of it. The swoops and scoops of the wah, makes it sound like a 747 startin up. One of the greatest things about this pedal is the price, and not only the price, but the garantee that comes with. All DOD pedals come with a great 3 year warrenty, so if anything goes wrong DOD will replace at NO charge. I love this pedal, and I don't know about the other peoples that wrote bad things about this pedal, cause this really is a great pedal.

You must compensate for volume drop

By Mud Shrimp Moe

I bought one of these for use in a live bass rig, but also used it a lot in a guitar pedal board. As far as getting a good autowah sound at a good price, this pedal is awesome. I was plenty happy with the quality of the autowah tone. However, there was one drawback to the pedal that just drove me crazy. If you engage this pedal, be prepared for a substantial drop in apparent volume. This is a big problem with a lot of autowah pedals really. However, the DOD is the worst I've seen. For my live rig, I had to put a boost pedal immediately after it and engage both at the same time. I finally got sick of this work-around, and sold the pedal. The Digitech autowahs (they make a bass version and a guitar version but both are excellent) is a much better option. Of course, the Digitech versions also cost more money.

Why spend more? Great Deal

By Anonymous

I have not tried this on a bass , so bass players see other reviews. There are a few other vintage pedals out there that my be a little better than this, but you will pay dearly and will have to do some searching. This is a great sounding pedal at an outstanding price. The new "blend" function allows you to mix the dry and wet signal, which is why I bought this one. I do not like too much of the effect. I would prefer NOT to sound like Jerry Garcia. But if thats your cup of tea, then that option is there. This pedal works for jazz , blues, and even metal (with distortion ie Jerry Cantrell or Disturbed). I play this through a Boogie Combo, using and Les Paul and Tele. Highly recommended. At this price, why not add this to your pedalboard?

One of my favorite effects ever!

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I mainly use the DOD envelope filter with my bass (fender fretless jazz) and for a guitar pedal (and such an inexpensive one at that)it has a very lively, funky and useful sound on boss the bass and guitar, thanks to the blend knob. It's the only effect I use on my bass and it great for guitar too. Definitely worth the bucks!

Not All That!

By Dark Star

from south subs of chicago

While tweeking with this pedal at the store I was able to reproduce Garcia's "shakedown" tone. However, it is not possible to reproduce his "dancin'" tone. The problem with this pedal is that the envelope only sweeps one way. It would be great if the envelope swept down as well as up.I'll stick with my Digitech synth/wah for now.

I bought one of these and the same week I had to take it back because it broke. I ended up getting another, which broke. And finally, my third one broke. Bad experience overall.

I have owned this pedal now for about 4 years. Although I rarely gig with it due to its unusual sound, I jam with it all the time. It makes my basslines super funky, and it's fairly easy to use. Plus, its metal casing is very durable.

has a wicked wah sound to it and, like all dod pedals, they have a great sound for a small price.

Very Flea like

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I saw the downgrade of this pedal on a Flea DVD and I said I needed one.I went to guitar center and bought the Digitech envelope filter and it broke the day after. I then bought the DOD and it was awsome. Great sound, fantastic tone, alot of fun. I play my Spector legend 5 string on it and it sounds great. A must buy for any funk bassist or Red Hot Chili Peppers fan.

Sweet Spacy Sound

By sNoOP

from AUS

This is the funkiest little stomp box around! The FX25 was an absolutly amazing box and with the blend knob added on, it has only become better. It provides the silkiest low ends and the most exciting high notes of all the envelope/synth filters available.I use this with my bass guitar (Warwick Thumb 5-String and a Yamaha RBX-270) and a SWR Workingman amp, and it is soo silky smooth, you'd think Bootsy Collins or Flea was in the room, pumpin out some funk beats. It's That Good!
