OVERVIEW

Exacting control that will blow your mind.

Create incredibly smooth volume swells or control your effect pedal parameters with the Dunlop DVP1XL Volume (XL). Solidly-built in an aluminum chassis with aggressive non-slip tread, the DVP1XL is ready for the road. Our patent-pending Band Drive allows for a smooth range of motion without the fear of breakage or change in feel or range, and for maximum comfort and precision, the DVP1XL's rocker tension is fully adjustable.

When using the DVP1XL as an expression pedal, you can use the internal pot to set the minimum level of the parameter you're controlling with the rocker. If you want to reverse the function of the heel-down and toe-down positions, the DVP1XL has an internal switch that allows you to do so.

Along with Volume, FX and Output jacks, the DVP1XL also features a convenient Tuner output for silent tuning onstage.

I always wanted a volume pedal but didn't care for some I had tried. This pedal uses a smooth metal strip instead of a plastic gear which can get dirty/gummy over time. Hope it will be low maintenance. It's very smooth. It feels good using it. I may pick up more to use as expression pedals for my DAW work as it is much more ergonomic and controllable in use compared to the cheap M-Audio ones I own. It is significantly heavier as well so it stays put. I like the dedicated tuner output that lets me keep my Korg tuner keyed up and visible weather the volume is on or off. Highly recommended.

I'm a 62 year old working musician from Seattle, WA.
The Dunlop DVP1XL Volume Pedal operates beautifully and has a great feel underfoot because of the adjustable tension, I also like that it doesn't require any power to operate.
I do have 2 issues. First issue which is not a serious problem is that this pedal is huge in length. It's 2 inches longer than my Dunlop Slash Wah pedal. I wasn't expecting that, but I still got it on my pedal board.
The serious design issue with this pedal is that when using 90 degree jacks, they can't plug in and head straight downward to under my pedalboard, they either have to go sideways or you have to use a straight jack. The base of the pedal in front will not allow the clearance. That became an issue for me and although I got it worked out. Input jack goes in sideways, output jack sideways and I am forced to use a straight jack for the tuner output. I'm unhappy with how it looks aesthetically.

Comments about Dunlop DVP1XL Volume Pedal:

I got this pedal specifically so that I could manage volume differences between patches on my Blackstar Core amp. I frequently play late at night at a pretty low volume and the volume difference between a clean and hi-gain patch are quite substantial. I don't like to be chained arms-length to my amp and don't want to use volume control on my guitar because that affects gain. So I thought that this would allow me to manage that problem from a distance but it didn't work that way...when I switched to a hi-gain channel and cocked the pedal back it would go down to silent as expected...but when I tried to increase the volume - instead of gradually increasing from silent it would "kick-in" at some point higher than my goal volume. Hopefully that made sense? It could be possible it is because I was starting with a relatively low amp volume to begin with? Or maybe an anomaly with regard to the Blackstar amp? At any rate I was unable to accomplish my simple objective with this pedal. Probably works great in a different situation? Probably the most heavy duty pedal I have ever seen. I'd recommend it unless your goal was the same as mine.

Comments about Dunlop DVP1XL Volume Pedal:

I bought this to use with my EMU B3. It is a keyboard players dream pedal !!!! I used to use a Boss FV 50 H, which has a very short travel from off to full on, which is good for guitar swells and such, but not for organ performance. The Dunlop DVP1XL has a long travel, and is very well built. No noise, or tone suck. This pedal works like the pedal on my Hammond organ. I have bought few products that I am this pleased with!!!

Comments about Dunlop DVP1XL Volume Pedal:

This is an extra large pedal. If Dunlop actually gave measurements you may find this too big for pedalboard and not want to drag this around with you. This volume pedal sounds great in front of my Bad Cat amp. Sadly on bottom of pedal a "made in China " sticker!

Comments about Dunlop DVP1XL Volume Pedal:

This is a well built heavy duty sonically transparent unit that allows smooth volume expression. Especially handy for those guitars that have volume controls that are impossible to reach conveniently. Really useful full time output for a tuner or any other purpose. The foot pedal has a nice grippy rubber surface so it reduces any chance of inadvertently slipping off it.

Comments about Dunlop DVP1XL Volume Pedal:

The Dunlop DVP1XL is a solid workhorse at home on (or near) any guitarist's rig. My position of choice is last in the chain to get the swells and fades I want with all effects perfectly in place, doing what they're told to do.

The torque tension is easily adjustable to make the sense of control a perfect match to your style and posture. Quality pedal. Reasonable price. A great replacement or first volume pedal.

Oh...it can also be used as an expression pedal. Maybe I'll get a second one.

Comments about Dunlop DVP1XL Volume Pedal:

The DVP1XL is an amazingly well built volume/expression pedal- the direct drive is so much sturdier than similar products like the Ernie ball MVP, etc that use string(?!?), and the tread on the treadle is about as tough as they come. Very smooth operation, and due to the large size it's very easy to more exactly sweep to the desired position (especially helpful when using as an expression pedal controlling the speed of a delay or tremolo, etc). The DVP3 is perhaps a more ideal size being an inch or two shorter, but this one still fits on my pedaltrain classic2, and combined with the ridiculous price I got because it was a Stupid Deal of the Day, I really can't be too worried about the larger size (suits my giant feet better anyway I'm sure). Highly recommend for both volume and expression usage- it'll last as long as you need it to with heavy usage...

Comments about Dunlop DVP1XL Volume Pedal:

This is a great sounding pedal with uses as both a volume pedal or an expression pedal for other effects. It is definitely lives up to the XL name so plan on giving this pedal it's own zip code on your pedalboard. If you just use it as a single pedal by itself for Volume/Expression then the size is great because it will stay put on the floor and give you a solid stable platform.

                    Summary:
It is a passive pedal so it doesn't need a power supply
Clear tone delivery with little tone loss, if you are worried about losing tone use with a buffer/buffered pedal (ie ts-9/808 or boss pedal or something more boutique)
It is big and built like a tank which could be a pro or a con depending on your needs.
Great for achieving volume swells, manually making tremolo style sounds, or freeing up hands for rolling off volume.
Works great as an effects loop attenuator ie in my Fender Hot-Rod Deville I can crank up the volume on the clean channel to get the good sounding pre-amp distortion, and then dial down overall volume of the amp with this pedal in the effects loop. This accomplished that higher gain sound of pushing a pre-amp hard without needing

it is definitely a durable, solid built pedal at a "stupid deal of the day" price, so i sold my EB VP because of the "footprint." I didn't look close enough as with the price i thought it was a mini pedal (which is my fault) Unfortunately, the pedal is normal size and considerably heavier than the EB. To repeat, there is NOTHING wrong with the product. it's MY needs that are the issue

The first two I purchased were broken straight out of the box. There was no tension at all and the tension adjuster didn't do anything. The pedal would just flop around and not maintain position. I even called Dunlop about the problem being that it happened twice. The first two were sent back. The third one had no issues at all and works fine.

Comments about Dunlop DVP1XL Volume Pedal:

The thing everyone seems to dislike about this I love and that is the size. Its big and built like a tank.

I use it with a Helix LT and it seems to work as good if not better than the Mission Eng. pedal I have. I have used the DVP1 volume pedal since it came out. I always used it in front of the Helix and before that I used it with a POD Pro. I don't put my Helix LT on the floor during live shows. I also don't switch between effects during songs. I have my set list programmed in and I try to keep it as simple as possible. I've like the way the DVP1 felt that I wanted to try it with the wah effects and as long as you are using a TRS cable in the exp slot on the DVP1XL it works great so I only have the two DVP pedals and a tuner in front of me on stage and they are so big they don't move and i don't need a pedal board to hold them in place. The DVP1 is grey metal color and the DVP1XL is black so there is never any confusion of which is volume and which is wah. I have done at least twenty shows with this set-up and it is just so easy for me have a couple tanks on the floor and my controller(Helix LT) behind me. I got the DVP1XL on stupid deal of the day so I bought a couple and have them set-up at home under my desk so I only have to put the Helix on the desk and plug in the two cables from the pedals. I have never heard any sound differences from while using the pedals and no one including sound guy who has been mixing us live for ten years ever said there was any differences in sound quality. An amazing pedal and Ihave 3 of the DVP1XL's now and they are working for me everyday either on stage or at home with no issues!

Sometimes bigger is better! Fantastic volume pedal!

Comments about Dunlop DVP1XL Volume Pedal:

YES, it's obviously huge but that should be a given considering the name. The important thing is that this guy does its job VERY well and I don't regret buying it as the SDOTD one bit. Totally worth making room on my board!

The feel is great; easily the pedal's best feature. This is where the size becomes an advantage. Having such a large foot surface and an adjustable tension make this thing an incredibly comfortable and easy volume pedal to use. I would also wager that you could stop the pedal more accurately without the accidental bump as you remove your foot.

I use it with an ES-8 which has very nice input and output buffers, and I detect zero loss of tone. I never detected any perceptible loss of tone even without the ES-8 though, so it's solid there despite being passive.

All in all, a wonderful deal if you can manage the size on your board. The ease of use is a huge plus for me! 10/10, would replace if something happened to it (unlikely given the all-metal construction).

I use this as a volume pedal for steel guitar. It allows me to get great swells and to drop into background as needed for best musical support. Also, it increases sustain and lets the gain kick in under high volume.
I like the connection for tuner but it caused tuner battery to go dead because I forget to connect power to it now that it's not connected to my effects pedal. I have not used the effects pedal connection yet. Best is that I got a substantial discount due to the Stupid Deal of the Day.
