      OVERVIEW

A wah built to handle Zakk's wild ways.

The Dunlop ZW-45 Zakk Wylde Signature Cry Baby Wah must be one of the toughest, meanest wah pedals on the planet. Built from the ground up with great tone and rugged durability in mind, the Zakk Wylde pedal can stand up to the crushing stomp of metal's reigning king of lead guitar. The Wylde Cry Baby Wah is crafted with a heavy-duty raw-metal casing and roadworthy components to withstand years of abuse. With guts that have been finely tuned to Zakk's specs, including the Fasel inductor, the Dunlop Cry Baby wah is specially voiced to deliver extra-thick and cutting tone. You can power you Zakk Wylde Signature Cry Baby with a 9V battery or the Dunlop ECB-003 AC adapter

The Wylde Wah – the perfect marriage of brains and brawn. Lots of brawn. Order yours today.

The demo video for the Zakk Wylde Crybaby says that Dunlop essentially lowered the center frequency of the way sweep, lowering the frequencies boosted at both the toe down and heel down positions. Using this wah, I've found that this makes it a great choice for rock lead playing. You don't have to worry about getting too shrill or nasal when you rock the pedal to the toe down position.
It will also do the thing that Vai and Satriani do where it sounds like they're soloing on the neck pickup but it's actually the bridge pickup with a wah pedal in the heel down position.
The sound is very vocal and musical for rock lead playing.
If you play funk rhythm guitar, and want a more wide open, maybe somewhat nasal "aahh" sound at the top of the travel, you might want to get another wah pedal for that purpose. The Zakk Wylde Crybaby is voiced for "rawk". Get this one for rock leads and another one for funk!
I used my old Mutron wah for many years, and I have an old chrome Morley wah too. Both have a sweep that is far too wide, gets too ear piercing at the top of the travel. Not very musically useful, and the last thing I want when I am wailing away in front of an audience is to have to be careful how far forward I rock my wah pedal.
The Zakk Wylde Crybaby sounds musical throughout the pedal travel. Way better than what I used before.

I bought this wah a year ago because it was on sale and a lot of artist I like use it and swear by it. I never liked it the highs are weak and to low is so low it's more like a volume pedal! I'd been trying it with different set ups and nothing, so I was gonna sell it till I watch a vid of a guy opening up a crybaby gcb95 and moving the pot back so it wasn't as harsh so I did the opposite with this I turn the pot forward all the way and now this thing sounds like a beast!! It's made its first appearance on my pedalboard! If you play metal or hard rock stick with the original crybaby or try something else!!! Unless your ready to open it up it's sound is useless!

Comments about Dunlop ZW-45 Zakk Wylde Signature Cry Baby Wah Pedal:

I've tried several wahs (mostly dunlop), and the ZW-45 simply has the widest frequency sweep, to my ears. There are features out there that I would really like (Morley's LED activation; it's nice not having to click the button in and out of each use... a notch button to hold a particular frequency in... LEDs to indicate when it's on and off, etc.), but my priority is in how it sounds. I also had to re-solder a few joints in the circuit board's power traces. However, I love the tones so much and how much I can make my guitar scream, that I've repaced all my wahs (different setups for home, rehearsal, and live rigs) with the zw-45. Bottom line, nothing else I've ever tried stands up to it.

                  Zack Wylde Pedal Review

Comments about Dunlop ZW-45 Zakk Wylde Signature Cry Baby Wah Pedal:

Honestly i don't reccomned this pedal for hard rock and metal playing because the sound gets lost in the mix of overdrive. At first when you get the pedal the sound is really strong but after like a month it starts to fade away I say get this pedal only if you have an overdrive pedal to go with it if not i say get a pedal with knobs to adjust the volume of the wah like the slash/jerry cantrell/ and dimebag wah from dunlop or mark tremonit/ steve vai wah's with the wah boost volume
The Pedal is pretty basic no knob to increase the wah sound but its pretty simple to use. Its got a sweet crybaby sound for metal and hardrock which is perfect because thats the type of style I like to play.
The wah sound is pretty good when you play on a clean chanel it sounds really good especially with the flanger effect on an amp but when its comes to playing with overdrive you may want to reconsider buying this pedal because the wah sound gets lost in the mix and sounds too low it would be better if it had the knobs to increase the wah volume and range like the slash wah pedal.
Its an ok pedal but if you really want some awesome sounds i reccomend getting the zack wylde overdrive pedal to make sure that the crybaby sound doesn;t get lost in your playing.

Comments about Dunlop ZW-45 Zakk Wylde Signature Cry Baby Wah Pedal:

A visually pleasing pedal that can play in metal and with a surprising amount of funk as well. Its Like a Hendrix clone on steroids. An amazing wah, may be the best out there, especially for the money
The Features may be the oe place that you can fault this pedal. It has asthetic flair and is pretty cool in terms of presets. However, there is no way to alter the sweep range or anthing like that (like on the Jerry Cantrel Wah). Just try it before you buy it, this pedal wont be for everyone, especially if you like to tweak and customize sound in the most anal manner, but this pedal will be for most people.
This pedal is built super tough and clean looking. ENOUGH SAID!
If you can get this pedal on sale or used its an amazing deal. I found mine new on sale for an amazing price for any signature wah, especially one with this capability.

I got this pedal for Christmas and I tell you what I fell right in love with it. It give you a thick throaty and growly sound that know other wah can give you. This wah has know adjustment knobs so thts why i gave it a 4.5 for features. If you play this on a clean channel it gives you nice a nice thick warm sound. This wah has all the torque you will need.

This wah is great. Its got a much thicker throaty sound than the regular Cry Baby and handles as much distortion as you wanna run through it. It doesnt have as high pitch a top out when you press it all the way forward as a regular cry baby though so just keep that in mind.

My brother bought this pedal for me at x-mas. When I first plugged it in and tried it out I was amazed at the sound and sweep. At first it felt a little odd compared to some other Wah's I had tried. But like new girlfriends, you need to adjust you game a little and the end result as great. This pedal seems to work best with moderate to high gains of distortion (imagine that, a Zakk Wylde effect pedal designed for high gain) so if that is the sound you are looking for this is the Wah for you. Simple lines in a rugged housing, no frills one button on off with an adjustable pedal resisitance setting. All in all very nice.

Comments about Dunlop ZW-45 Zakk Wylde Signature Cry Baby Wah Pedal:

I wrote a review on this wah pedal a while ago, and felt obligated to follow up on what was stated. I wrote the original review 3 months after purchase with no problems. Now that I have had it a while I have had a problem. The pot gave out, ironically, shortly after the original review. The good news is that I changed the pot with relative ease. The sound is very good in this wah, however given the chance I would try a different wah, perhaps a weeping demon or the dimebag signature. Great wah, but very pricey.
