This is the best compressor I have EVER owned. The first pedal I ever bought was a compressor (way back in the late '80s) as I was told by wiser folk that it was a must have for bass. They were right. That first pedal could not be noisier or have more step-down artifact. Then I moved on to using amps with built in compression or the compressors built into multi-effect units (ala Bass Pod XT) but I thought they were just OK. After using a really fine rack mounted tube compressor in the studio last year, I bought the Electro-Harmonix Black Finger. It was a very nice, warm compressor, perhaps just a tad noisy due to the tubes. My biggest complaint was that it was huge as pedals go and the 18V made it a hog on my pedal board. Then, I found the EBS MultiComp. It is AWESOME. It is a tiny little thing, only 9V and very versatile. It is like three compressors in one, but if you are like me, you will keep it on the multiband setting nearly all the time. In that setting, It splits the signal into highs and lows, compressing each separately and then recombines the signal. This can achieve very high (but very musical) amounts of compression with no artifacts and it is virtually without noise. I loved this pedal so much, I immediately purchased two more EBS pedals that I will also review on this site. It may seem like a lot of money for a pedal, but if really like compression, you will see that it is a modest investment in fantastic tone.

Comments about EBS MultiComp True Dual Band Compressor Pedal:

With my equipment, volume level, and playing style I did not hear any noticeable effect from this unit. I tried all the various settings. After I bought it I watched some YouTube videos that the mfr has online and couldn't really hear any difference in the settings when they demo'ed it. Nicely made..but waaaay cheaper to just turn up the gain on my amp.

Unbeatable Effects for both Bass AND Guitar

    By GearGourmet

Comments about EBS MultiComp True Dual Band Compressor Pedal:

I've been a big fan of the EBS pedals since I first heard them demoed down in Hall E at the 2007 Winter NAMM show. I slowly started buying up all their Black Label pedals soon after, and I have been beyond blissful with every purchase. The MultiComp was the first one I bought and holds a special place in my heart for that reason. It just adds so much to your tone and sound regardless of what you're playing. It works just as well for my Michael Tobias MTD535 as it does for my Gibson Les Paul. With a choice between solid state, tube simulation, or multi-band compression - it's so versatile! I sound just as good pounding 8th notes on rock tunes as I do slapping on the funky dance tracks. You would be doing yourself and your music a disservice not buying this pedal!

    Sounds Great but Battery Issues

    By Sayman

    from New Jersey

Comments about EBS MultiComp True Dual Band Compressor Pedal:

The pedal sounds great - adds nice punch to the sound and really tightens the definition on low notes below E. However, changing the batteries is a pain, as you must completely remove all the screws in the back of the unit (which are all tiny and black - don't drop one on a darkened stage!). In addition, the battery wiring and connection is pretty cheap looking - feels real easy to break if you're not careful. Considering that it goes through batteries pretty quickly, I would only get this if you got the AC adapter with it.

    Impressive Compression !!!

    By Anders-frRoq

Comments about EBS MultiComp True Dual Band Compressor Pedal:

The "Ebs MultiComp" does the job! Whether I'm playing slap funk bass or pumping out 8th notes in a rock band, it's great! The "MultiComp" is very versatile. Works great from really hard compression to just a little bit of limiting in your bass sound. Sturdy built with "true bypass" in an easy-to-use box. It's very silent too, when used in studio work. I really like this compression pedal!

Its a great pedal! Even for your electric guitar.

    By isakpeter

Comments about EBS MultiComp True Dual Band Compressor Pedal:

I mostly use a fender stratocaster and a 160 watt fender dyna touch amp. I just got this pedal a little while ago and it blows me away. The sound it gives is so crisp, clear and full. Its especially good for blues, but not just blues, anything in general. Once you get this pedal you will never turn it off. It adds so much to your tone and sound. I used it on a little 25 watt solid state fender frontman and even on that little amp it just fills your sound with awesomeness.

Would not Trade it for any other comp pedal

    By Anonymous

Comments about EBS MultiComp True Dual Band Compressor Pedal:

This things has been a mainstay with my rig. I roll with a BBE Sonic Stomp and the EBS and the sound I get is simply amazing. It does not alter any of the tones from my bass, or the sound quality of my speakers. Simply gets the lows and highs leveled out, and allows the BBE to keep signal loss a thing of the past. Perfect..and would not use any other comp pedal.
