Exactly as advertised!

Comments about EBS MultiDrive Universal Overdrive Pedal:

Not for the metal head, but if your looking to warm up your sound and add that sweet spot where the tubes are just starting to break up depending on your attack...then this is it. Or if you like making your amp fart but dont want the cops called out to your house.

It will color your tone (by design) as if you were running through a class A amplifier. The more you boost your low mids the more drive you'll get from the tube simulator. I found that i needed to boost my highs to add back some attack when in Tube mode. Run this post your pre-amp (effects loop) for the best result.

Works well with both passive and active basses (it has a switch to cut or boost the signal coming in). Best used as a subtle overdrive, not high gain fuzz.

The distortion is just like running through a vintage style tube amp. When I plug into my old amp with 12AX7s and EL84s, I essentially get the same warmth, sound and response as this pedal through my solid state amp. It's not a fuzzy sound.
Three different distortion sounds:
Tubesm: Warm compressed overdriven tube. It cuts your highs, leaves your lows, and adds lower mids to fatten and warm up the tone. Less attack but sounds just like running through my old tube amp. You can get a nice clean warm tube sound to add life and depth to your solid state amp all the way to full out overdriven growl.

Standard: Less colored and less compressed drive with with more attack and clarity. It takes your original tone, slightly warms it up and adds a little bottom end punch. Still has the tube growl but more subtle and very responsive to your attack. The low end is still unaffected by the drive.

Flat: Farty bass / distorted speaker sound. The whole bandwidth is affected by the distortion. Can be dialed in for a subtle flutter affect driven by your attack, or full out speaker blowing sound.
Solid heavy feel for such a small pedal. The controls are very smooth and tight like what I'd expect from high end electronics. It should last forever.
I'd prefer a little more control over the settings when I pay more for a pedal. I knew that going in though (it only has two knobs). It is rugged, but I've never had a more expenisve pedal wear out either.

Works for me

Comments about EBS MultiDrive Universal Overdrive Pedal:

I bought this mainly to warm up my sound as I run through a solid state amp. Occassionally I use it on higher drive settings to get a fairly distorted sound, but typically I just use it to add a little bite or warmth to the sound. This isn't pedal isn't going to produce any over the top harsh tones, but it is easy to use, sounds high quality and doesn't seem to hurt my tone or add noise to my signal chain.

Great MulitDrive Pedal

Comments about EBS MultiDrive Universal Overdrive Pedal:

Any real bass player knows that EBS strictly manufactures only professonal bass equipment for the professonal bassist. I know. I own one of their amp heads and two evolution cabs. Amazing stuff! And nothing falls short here with this MultiDrive pedal. What I like the most about it is that it increases your low range when engaged. Unlike most distortions out there this one will NOT cut your lows. I hate that! Especially with my Rickenbacker I rock out with this is perfect with a real bass head and cab setup. Very easy to use with two knobs and 3 drive settings you won't get lost in the mix. Second one I own!

Comments about EBS MultiDrive Universal Overdrive Pedal:

I received this pedal in the mail a few days ago. After playing with it for three or four hours every day, I've decided it's not the right distortion for me. It's great at making some wicked fuzz, but it is absolutely terrible at any sort of softer distortion. This pedal is meant for a bass, but I can't see why any bassist would use it. Playing on the E and B strings of my 6 string bass, everything is muddy and there is absolutely no definition between notes. It seems as though the pedal is boosting the lows, but it boosts them so much that you can't even hear the distortion over the rumbling low end. Some sort of EQ put right after this pedal may help tame the low end, but no one should have to buy an EQ pedal or rack just to fix their distortion.
