Egnater

Vengeance against lackluster tone will be yours with this versatile, all-tube mammoth.

With two channels and 120 punishing watts of all-tube power, the Egnater Vengeance guitar amp head is sure to breath new life into your playing, your creativity, and your music. Channel 1 takes you from lush, organic cleans to heavy, crunchy rhythm while Channel 2 goes from serious classic-rock overdrive to extreme modern metal. Egnater's signature Tight & Bright voicing switches and a mid cut/boost switch on each channel further customize your tone. Independent reverb on each channel has an innovative "spillover" design, allowing natural decay when switching channels.

The footswitchable secondary master volume pushes solos to harrowing heights. A balanced speaker-emulated output goes directly to the board live or in the studio. The included 6-button footswitch connects via a standard XLR cable, which is easily replaceable. Standard 1/4" jacks for external control of the switching functions provide increased flexibility.

Comments about Egnater Vengeance 120W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I have been a tube amp guy for a long time pllaying everythng from the super high value to the easy and affordable . I pllay 7 and8 string guitars and I have always been looking for something that can make and have the lower strings cut through cleaner. This amp is amazing for the 7 and 8 string players out therei own 3 of these heads now running on my rig. I'm touuring fulltime and these heads are very tough and can take a beating. So for the price of this amp it is alittle high for some folkks but well worth it.

Comments about Egnater Vengeance 120W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

If you want an honest review, look no further. I've owned my Egnater Vengeance half stack for about 19 months. I love it. I also own an EVH 5150iii half stack, and I prefer my Egnater. I'll say it again, I prefer my Egnater.

First off, the clean tone on this amp has infinite headroom, meaning that it's a super clean channel. You can also crank the gain on the channel and it sounds like Angus Young's vintage AC/DC guitar tone. As if there were a cranked TS-808 in front of it. The distortion is perfect. You can go as low gain as the Angus Young sound I just described, or you can go straight into Cannibal Corpse style metal. I have played this amp at least 100 times side by side with a Mesa Triple Rec, and I cannot believe Mesa charges so much money for that head that does so little.

Options: 60 Watts is nice so you can crank the tubes and get more warmth, but the 120W gives you more low end, so you have options as to your overall sound. The tight/bright/gain switches on each channel is such an amazing and unique option. Each channel also has its a button on the footswitch for "mids." You can program this button to either scoop your mids, or boost them, thus you can have a little mid boost in the middle of a song or for a lead part. The 2nd master option is so, so awesome. You set the 2nd master volume knob to solo volume and the button is right there on the footswitch whenever you need it. The effects loop is awesome, as well. It's a series loop and you can control the send and return volumes individually. You can choose to leave the FX loop on 24/7, or switch it from the footswitch.

This is a powerful hi-gain amp with an amazing clean! That alone makes it worth buying. Again, I've had it for 19 months, it's still running strong. I have put this amp through a lot of abuse and it runs strong, like an ox! I did put "poor cabinetry" on the cons (the only con). What I meant is that the wood underneath the tolex is kind of soft, so it's very easy to dent this head or scrape the tolex/mar the tolex. I recommend a road case or a cover. Other than that, this amp is a perfect 10 for me.

A 5150 may be 100 smackaroos cheaper, but it cannot do what this amp can. Sure you'll have an awesome distortion, but no options!

This amp is just wonderful with overall power and tone. I run a MXR GT OD with it and love the results. Love the tone and distortion. Probably not the amp for everyone but I am never getting rid of this one. Great amp. Thanks Egnater!!!

Comments about Egnater Vengeance 120W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I bought this amp as I had heard great things about it, and in truth it does have its appeal, only not really my sound. This is a subjective area and everyone differs in their opinion on sound. The amp has good tones for modern rock and metal, but does not seem to cut through the mix at rehearsal. I ended up buying an ENGL Fireball and feel it is similar in tone, but more powerful in its voicing and ability to cut through a mix. The Egnator is collecting dust now, but I cannot say it is a bad amp at all, just not my cup of tea. My Old School Marshall, and now the ENGL are my main rigs, with a Hughes and Kettner Tubemeister as a backup.

Comments about Egnater Vengeance 120W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

The bottom line is this is a very meaty, dark, very high gain power house. With a TON of versatility! I can't say much more than what's already been said. The clean channel goes from fender clean to a nice Plexi/JCM crunch and the dirty channel does everything else, and I find the mini toggle switches very helpful. This amp is great for me because I play in a band that does material ranging from alt rock to metal, and in my free time I love to play a lot of thrash and old school death metal. It can even get a really great Doom metal sound.

This amp has lots of chug and sounds huge, but it may not be as tight as some people like. So if you get this expecting to play some Br00tal Djent you are going to be sorely disappointed. This amp is more of an old school thrash/death metal voicing which I LOVE. Anyone saying that this amp is muddy/weak/boring simply doesn't know how to dial it in properly. Again, it's a very dark sounding amp so it probably won't go well with dark sounding pickups. I find it works best with lower output, brighter sounding pickups.

This amp is very responsive to the touch of the player, and the particular guitar being used and the EQ is extremely sensitive. I really love this amp for what it is, a simple, versatile powerhouse.

Comments about Egnater Vengeance 120W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I have read reviews all over the internet and i see some bad and some good, well let me tell you, the people who voted this head down, are either not experienced are shouldn't have this amp in the first place. This head has metal chug, classic rock tones, blues, clean and whatever you want. The toggles on each channel are actually all very helpful and serve some purpose. The clean is fantastic, its clean not no 6505 clean here, the reverb gets really wet past around 10 or 9 so keep it low. I have no idea what the guy is talking about above me where the reverb is always on. When i turn it off, its off. someone tell him to get out of the church. Anyway, the gain channel, all i have to say is i have gotten the best metal tone out of all the amps i've played. It is exactly how i like my women, thick and juicy. It has all of the low end girth that you need for "that chug". If it matters i play through a H&K CC412B cabinet, which is also a 1,200 cabinet, but this head sounds great regardless. The cabinet does make a huge difference though. Needless to say i like my sound, wouldn't have a problem gigging, seems very well built, the knobs are sturdy and eq is sensitive. Overall this amp really does kill, if you know what your doing and an experienced player you will have no trouble finding a good sound for whatever you play.

i could not wait to get this egnater vengeance head,i sold my mesa boogie triple rec to get it,as soon as i plug it up to my 4x12 v30 cab it was tiny sounding, but i tryed to set it up and use it for recording and live and practice,i tryed for 3 months,it sounds like a solid state head,no power,no punch, the eq is trash,it sounds like thers reverb on all the time, never dry at all,the clean channel is great, with the same reverby sound as the high gain channel,i was turning this thing up to 6 and 7 at practice, not enough power,i tryed to record this with a mic and direct out,no good, this thing killed my ears in a way i cant take, compared to other amps iv owned, mesa, krank, line 6 bogner sv,kustom double cross,i sent the vengeance back and just got the peavey 6534+ head, its the best iv owned out of the the amps iv listed, more gain, more lows, and just perfect for metal..i put this on 3 at pratice and it kills, not 7,,,,its,,weak,,,i did boost it and use a mxr eq,delay in the loop,,

I stopped buy at the local guitar shopp today (Axe music) and I ws testing out the new Schecter SLS C1 (which I have been coveting for ever and bought) and got a chance to plug it in to this gem of an amp. As soon as i started playing it I new it would be the head I'm going to ge. It has beautiful, crisp cleans with excellent reverb to heavy metal, thrash distortion. You can also change the mids which is great and a switch between 60 watt output for home use and 120 watt output for shows/gigs. Go try it for yourself and you will see what this great am can to for you!!!!
