Comments about Engl Special Edition E 670 100W Guitar Amp Head (6L6):

My Special Edition head has 6l6 output tubes. This amp features everything a top end pre-amp would have and has great sounding power section with 2 switchable outputs: 1 could be my engl pro vin 30 straight cab and 2 could be Marshall 1960 classic cab. In an instant I can switch sounds and get dialed in, impossible with my other amps.
This amp sounds great with Les Paul Historic, 1974 Les Paul Custom, PRS 305 and any other guitar I've played through amp.
      The reverb sounds good.
No thin dry over cooked tone so many multi channel amps seem to have.
Not an amp for everybody, too expensive for anyone but a serious musician willing to pay the price for pro gear with a vast combination of tonal possibilities.
My amp has adjustable bias for output tubes and after biasing tubes to proper level the amp's tone was improved a notch. Some long plate 1959 Mullard ecc83 improved tone another notch. My amp however sounded pretty nice with the Engl chinese pre amp tubes.
I've owned many modern Marshall amps and they did not sound as rich and full as my Engl Special Edition E670 head. Channel 2 does Marshall sounds that I have not found elsewhere!
I've owned amp for around 2 years now and have grown quite fond of the amp after I finally paid for it.

Comments about Engl Special Edition E 670 100W Guitar Amp Head (6L6):

I have been telling people that with amps & heads you get what you pay for. That is definitely what I got. The ENGL sound is great, the features to. I had previously bought Special Edition 570 (tube pre amp) That was the first ENGL product I ever bought. When I saw this I noticed right away that the Special Edition 670 had the same preamp. So I decided that I should get the 670 for live use and use the old 570 for home recording. This head is designed for that with all the suitable extras for studio. Exactly what I have come to expect from ENGL. I bought this one used because I figured what is a little tear in the front matter if it is working good. Still a lot of money out the door, but. The quality, reliability and features make it worth it.

      I have the EL34

      By moonwork

Comments about Engl Special Edition E 670 100W Guitar Amp Head (6L6):

but it was such a hard decision to make. i still want an 6L6 amp. i wish engl would come out with the SE 1340 so you can have the best of both worlds in one amp, i.e. kind of like switching over to stereo; you can switch tube set up. some beginner girl who wanted to grow into a decent amp but i'm a computer geek very into audio so after a six month search, I went with engl and am glad I did. I also bought the XXL Pro cab and a full stack pro celestion cabs. The cabs are friggin awesome.

      finally a 3 dimensional tone

      By ian minick-0RleK

Comments about Engl Special Edition E 670 100W Guitar Amp Head (6L6):

I always wondered what some of the big boys were using to get that sound now i know--I've been through the marshalls mesas madisons rocktrons line six vht--they all had that card board 2 dimensional sound--and that grating high endish eq that gets on your nerves after playing for a while--for clean tones it is very depthy and has very nice reverb if added. The electronics and wiring are definatly top notch you can here that by the total clarity this amp delivers. the distortion break up is ultra vicous but warm and soothing to listen too--the eq of this amp allows for a very high ceiling--the frequencies are produced with stunning clarity and depth --overall very impressive amp--pricey but impressive.

      Review

      By Jimmy-bAlNW

Comments about Engl Special Edition E 670 100W Guitar Amp Head (6L6):

It came down to the Diezel VH4 or the Engl SE 670. Though this thing is loaded with features like cable impedence tester, MIDI switchable, ohms adjustable speaker outputs and no-load safety cutoff just to name a few - it would be nice to have a seperate bass and mid for each channel like the VH4 so I didn't give it a perfect score on features.Clean and crunch share the same bass/mid and lead I and lead II share the same bass/mid.You will need a MIDI pedal for this otherwise don't bother. The noise gate could have been left out because it doesn't do so great at high gain, high volume. However, I prefer the sound and "feel" of the Engl to the VH4. It absolutely "SCREAMS" - turn up the gain and sound off a note and it's like lighting magnesium chips on fire - endless, liquid sustain and lush harmonics effortlessly. The cleans are awesome with depth and "shimmer". Add some reverb and you can get those great vintage surf guitar sounds. Did I mention the reverb on the SE is great? The crunch is punchy and well rounded, also with great harmonic feedback. The lead channels will give you super gain with plenty of bite to cut through the mix. This amp sounds incredible! It looks mean too! A beautifully crafted machine which will continue to reveal more and more as you own it and begin to tweak the many different tone shaping features.

      WOW!

Comments about Engl Special Edition E 670 100W Guitar Amp Head (6L6):

I just got this head and it is in a word SICK! The very finest head I have ever played! I've have owned them all, Meas Boogies, Marshall's, VHT, Soldano, Bogner, Line 6, ect... and this head is a cut above the rest. Just plug in and play! You have four channels, midi switching, reverb. Any basic distortion sound you could possibly need at the push of a midi button. Just take it from me! Buy this BEAST!!!@
