A formidable 50-watt alternative to the monstrous EVH 5150 III head.

Loaded with pure EVH sound and power, the new EVH 5150 III 50-watt guitar amp head is a scaled-down version of its acclaimed 100-watt big brother—the mighty 5150 III head—with many of the same great features. Its smaller size and portability make it a perfect amp for players who want arena volume, tone, and performance in a compact package. It pairs perfectly with the new EVH 5150 III 2x12 and 1x12 cabinets, in addition to the current EVH 5150 III 4x12 cabinet.

The 5150 III head is a three-channel amp; channels one and two share EQ, with gain, low, mid, high, and volume controls; channel three has gain, low, mid, high, volume, and master presence and resonance controls. Other features include selectable impedance (4, 8 or 16 ohms), dual parallel speaker output jacks, effects loop, headphone jack, line out, and black hardware. Four-button footswitch included.

    Features

    • 50W
    • Three channels
    • Shared 3-band EQ for Channels 1 & 2
    • 3-band EQ, master presence and volue controls on Channel 3
    • Selectable impedance (4, 8, or 16 ohms)
    • Dual parallel speaker outputs
    • Effects loop
    • Headphone jack

    EVH 5150 III Mini 50W

Comments about EVH 5150 III Mini 50W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

This has been my biggest disappointment in musical equipment ever, at $1000.00 I expected EVH and Fender's normal level of perfection, not even close. I have owned two orignal Peavey EVH 5150 for 18 years, played them thousands of hours, dozens of tube sets and never even a blown fuse. As Hartley Peavey said "reliability is the most important and unwritten specification". The old school analog foot switch system never failed!!!

An amp that is unreliable and switches channels on its own is useless!
100% Pure EVH tone, the clarity, response and senseativity blows every other amp I have ever used away!!! When I first hooked it up and played it I could hear Angels singing!
That's where it all ends, happy feeling gone now.!Highly disappointed!!!
Amp arrived with missing tube socket screws and wrinkles in the tolex, this was a sign of things to come. Remember that the pioneers are the ones with the arrows in their backs! First RUN s/n VK-11-583.
After three weeks and 25-30 hours the channel switching started misbehaving like it was demon possessed; Playing in channel #2 or #3 it will at random switch back to #1, usually in the middle of an important solo, with or without the foot switch in use (problem is in THE AMP), also turns the effects loop off at random. You can watch this at youtube "NS235J EVH 5150III 50 watt demo-channel switching problem" It almost seems that Fender is using the consumer as quality control!
It would have gotten a 9, maybe even 10 (remember the angels?) except that now it is completely unreliable and I don't dare play it in Church or anywhere else until I get it repaired, oh AND another $70.00 in UPS to get it to and back from the nearest Gold level "authorized Fender Service Center 150 miles away. Then even afterwards It will always be lurking in the back of my mind...when is it going to happen again?

    EVH 50 III - 50W

    By PFL

Comments about EVH 5150 III Mini 50W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

EVH had the right idea an amp with 3 channels + MIDI but there are some issues. There is a huge difference in volume between the clean and crunch channel - channel 1 and 2 they are not balanced. The lead channel is certainly a high gain but there is way too much noise going on - Hum machine. There is no power output regulator, the amp is loud and there is no bedroom volume.I liked the JJ valves , the MIDI interface ,the clean sound and the crunch channel has good harmonics and sustain but the lead channel is anyoing way too much noise. If you like to play out loud and noise is not issue this amp is for you.
3 channels ,schumacher transformers, JJ valaves and the MIDI interface are all a plus.
I think it says on the box made in Vietnam.........................
I would expect better sound and less noise for the price

    EVH 5150III 50W Head

    By TC Lover

    from Central New York

Comments about EVH 5150 III Mini 50W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I always get a good laugh when people complain about signature heads and guitars. People need to remember that they are built to someone else's exacting specs. and not their own. Having said all that, this is a great rock and roll amp for a thousand bucks! Plenty of power to play the biggest rooms. If you HAVE to have three extremely different chnnels, get the 100W version. Otherwise, this is great and I highly recommend it!
I give it an 8. Not that it's not a great feature set, just very basic the way Ed likes it. The shared EQ and gain controls between channels 1 and 2 is a little problematic for me. It's not really possible to get a great clean tone and a nice crunch sound with the same settings. I knew this going in so it was no surprise to me. Plus, not many folks buy these amps for the clean tones! Having said that, if you opt to set it up just to get a nice clean sound on channel one it can be surisingly good. No surprise if you set it up to favor channel 2's crunch sound, to me this is the best sound this amp makes. Takes you right back to 1978 Van Halen tone. Not much to say about channel 3, this is a great lead sound that has a tremendous amount of gain! I really don't go past 2 o'clock on the gain knob as it's pretty unusable past that. Effects loop and footawitch are both great quality and work very well. Overall, this is a great sounding amp that just continues to grow on me the longer I own it. I also really dig he smaller size, the 100W head is one of the widest on the market. This 50W version is just as big as my Mark V still!
So far, so good! Seems well built and the footswitch is rather rugged. I anticipate no issues here.
Little more pricey than some other lower wattage heads, but certainly not the most expensive. Still well worth the money in my opinion.

    Good compact amp head!

    By Robert Ingram

Comments about EVH 5150 III Mini 50W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

    This amp is a keeper!
Great amp, nice tone and plenty of gain. Only issues is that there is a volume difference between clean and rhythm channel, which are shared. Would have been great if the rhythm and lead channel shared the same channel and eq instead of the clean and rhythm. This amp is a keeper though!
    well made
    good value
