OVERVIEW

Get the same limited edition powerhouse tone machine used by EVH himself.

This limited edition hand-customized EVH 5150 III 100S 100W guitar amp head is identical to the setup Eddie Van Halen has recently toured with, and features the exact same custom modifications.

The 100-watt head features a single input and three channels (clean, crunch, lead), each with versatile controls (volume, gain, presence, low, mid, high). Channel two features increased gain for greater sustain and is re-voiced for improved low-mid frequency definition; channel three also features increased gain and improved range for the “low” control. Further, each channel has a rear-panel resonance control knob that dials in fine-tuned low-end response. The amp boasts eight JJ 12AX7 (ECC83) preamp tubes, four Shuguang 6L6 power tubes, switchable output impedance (4, 8 and 16 ohms) and adjustable bias control. Other features include vintage-style “chicken head” control knobs, red jewel, dual speaker jacks, effects loop, direct out and molded plastic handle.

The 5150III 100S head comes in a special black “Stealth” aesthetic; and a seven-pin, four-button footswitch is included (controls each channel and the effects loop).

Comments about EVH Limited Edition 5150 III 100S 100W Tube Guitar Head:

The blue channel on the standard 100 watt always seemed to need more gain in my opinion. The Stealth blue channel has way more gain than the standard 5153 and is more akin to the 50 watt blue channel. The Stealth is voiced slightly different than the standard 100 watt also. More pronounced mids to my ears. The Stealth is the apex of the 5150 line. The red channel has more gain on the Stealth also which is baffling as it has too much gain to begin with.

The clean channel breaks up really quick but if you leave the gain barely on you still get a great clean. Any higher and the clean gets rather dirty real quick.

You now get a resonance control for each channel for enhanced tone control and bass response. The external bias is a nice touch also. The Stealth does not have midi functionality like the 50 watt which is a dissapointment.

I own the 50 watt, 100 watt and the Stealth. If you liked the first two then you will love the Stealth.
