I owned an original and like many others sold it in the early 80's when they were "worthless".  When the vintage craze hit I was back into tube amps but could not find one, period.  Then the prices went bonkers, and when in 2003 I saw the "reissues" at NAMM and found out the details I put a hold on one without plugging in.  Great decision, as this amp will do everything I need, from classic rock to country rock to blues, blues rock, R&B - I can't think of anything it *can't* do, since my son borrowed it and used it in a metal band for a while!  I never use the Diaz mods - I run it in "stock" configuration, and I don't think those were necessary except as a marketing tool.  The Eminence 15" speaker is far better than I expected once it was broken in (it took about 10-12 hours of medium-volume operation - I have an enclosed area I can use and run a CD player through amps with new speaker; breaking speakers in is critical with any amp).  It has a wide tonal range, from bright and "sparkly" to smooth, deep and mellow (think jazz).  It will also cut through the mix in band situations where others are running Twins, Marshalls, Soldanos, whatever in the 100-watt range, as the open cab and midrange voice of the speaker give it a distinct...but still "Fendery" tone.  The reverb also sounds far richer in this than other Fenders IMO due to the speaker voicing and a few other little details. It was a shame it was discontinued, mostly because of the price - since the price was about level with the original $339 price when inflation is factored in ($339 in 1964 = $2350 in 2008, the end of the run).  Oh, well - the value will just go up (not that this one will ever be for sale!).  No amp rpoblems - I had an issue with the Groove Tube 6L6 GE's (actually I had an issue with 3 pairs of them going off-spec) but I use NOS US tubes or JJ's anyway.  Just an amazing amp.  Instruments used: Telecasters (rewound, very hot PU's), '54-ish Strat, Trussart Steel DeVille with Tom Holmes 'buckers, 63 Jaguar and modded '59 Fender 400 Pedal Steel.

I've had couple of these amps in the past and this one is definitely going to stay. Being discontinued will only enhance the mystique and admiration for the Vibroverb. Someone mentioned that this amp is like a Deluxe Reverb on steroids.  I can see the similarities but have to add that the Vibroverb adds fullness to my sound that I was missing with the Deluxe.  I play out with friends, at home, and in the praise band.  Not once has this amp failed me.  A hand wired amp with finger-jointed pine cabinet that not everyone has.  It still has the Fender sparkle and a bluezy crunchy drive.  Go get yourself a Vibroverb. A Fender '64 Vibroverb Custom. You'll be happy you did.

I plugged into this Amp not expecting anything special, just checking out an Amp I've never played.  I was blown away at the tone I was hearing and  as I played through the licks that have become kinda boring to me suddenly they sounded very colorful again and I had a big stupid grin on my face the whole time. I've owned this Amp 6 Months now and Im still in love with it, this Amp is a keeper. I disagee with other poster that this is a "Pro Amp only"  Im a basement Rock Star only and I highly recommmend this Amp if you can afford it. If you play Blues, Jazz or Clasic Rock you must at least try this Amp. As others have said tone wise listen to Stevie Ray Vaughn song Lenny, thats one of the tones you can dail in. It's very easy to dail in a tone you will love, the hard part is deciding which one you like best. The only knock on the Amp is it's price, thats why I give it a 4.5 and not a 5 star rating. If your going to spend $2,500 I also recommend you try the new Revera Venus 6 (sweet)
