I purchased this as a practice amp, but as Fender advertised, it is more than that. Plays quite loud, and unlike the Bassman 100 or 200, the 60's output is @ 8 Ohms into its 8 Ohm nominally rated speaker (I suspect the 100 might be the very same amp but it gets a 100 watt rating due to its 4 Ohm speaker impedance). You could comfortably use this amp in small venues (rooms under 1500 sq ft). This amp has a very low noise floor. The volume can be set at "8" before any apreciable background noise is present. The limiter works very well. Perhaps too well - that is, with the limiter engaged the volume and EQ can be set to deliver a lot of bass without clipping the pre or power amps, but there is subtle, yet annoying crackle out of the woofer to remind you that you are driving it too hard. Fit and finish are first rate. This amp weighs in at 50 lbs., so it is not ultra portable, but the 50 lbs undoubtedly helps contributes to its sonic benefit. Nice thing is, you can daisy chaine this to another Bassman 60 for more reinforcement and dispersion, or to a Bassman 200 (wouldn't bother with the Bassman 100)- that would give any amateur bassist all the output you'd ever need.

I've owned this amp for about 5 years. And yes it does buzz at all volumes. It sounds ok when playing but only truly sounds great with a noise reducer. It has been great for practice and small gigs but there are some things I dislike. The kickback, don't bass frequencies travel best parallel to the ground? So what's the advantage? It's just a bigger heavier box than it needs to be. Otherwise the effects loop, tuner jack, line out, all make this amp very versatile. I just think there are better amps for practice for less money. Say the Orange 35 combo? Hmmmm

This amp get the job done and then some.

By bigmikeyz

This amp is loud first off, louder then any of the other 60 watt amps I've had. It also sounds great loud with the limiter on there is little to no distortion. The feature also help to get the crisp slap sound. Nice amp for the price

Awesome Amp!

By LadyRenee'

from NC

I've used this amp for a number of years with audiences 50-250 people with my keyboard. Sound quality is wonderful. It holds the high notes as well as the low tones without any shrieks or rumbles - even at high volumes. I've placee amp on casters because its heavy for a female to haul about. And I don't think I'll ever part with it because I've not yet seen or heard an amp I like better. I also love the kick back feature. Its great for projecting sound in other directions. I highly recommend!!!

Dar

By Dar--Tnix

I use this product, exclusively, in the recording studio. My amp room is about 12 x 15 (not large) so having a huge amp is simply ridiculous. This thing has TON of low-end punch, a clean, crisp and defined mid-range w/ some nice crisp, but not sharp, hi-end. Given the lower wattage this IS NOT a gig-amp, UNLESS you're going to plug the thing direct into the PA and sit it close to you for monitoring - which is what I do w/ it normally, anyway... The direct out is killer... the tone is awesome...ONE OTHER USE: Duane Eddy (1950's Guitar Instrumentalist) used a 100 watt Magnatone amp w/ a tweeter in it. This amp almost replicates that tone, to a "T". My Fender Tele, plugged into this amp, sparkles and shines w/ a life I can't get from any other amp... it just rocks. Overall, this is one of the best investments I've put into my recording studio in a long time.

Unbeatable for the Price

By Bass4Fun

I simply could not find a better bass amp for the money - period. The Fender quality is outstanding and the kick-back design is a must. The only things it lacks are a headphone jack and a CD RCA input.

Clean Guitar & Amp Modeling

By BobGuitar335

I'm using with my Roland VG-88 and a Roland GR-300. It tends to distort at the highest volumes. Other than that, the sound quality is in line with my studio monitors. Exactly what I was looking for.

It is a Fender for gosh sakes!

60 Watts isn't going to rattle any windows and granted you can get a practice amp for 1/3 as much...but in 80% of the venues a normal band plays...this little unit will do the job. Line out to the PA and never look back. Lug the 400+ watt units to the really big stuff.
