If you have no intention of ever hooking the Bronco up to a computer, then you're probably not going to get that much out of this amp. Fender's FUSE software isn't just some nice little bonus...it's a really essential element in unleashing the full power of this amp. Being able to save those presets to the Bronco means you don't have to keep the amp tethered to a PC or Macbook or whatever, but you'll need to -- and want to! -- plug in that USB cable at least every once in a while. I was a little annoyed at first that I couldn't do more of this sculpting on the amp itself, but with as intuitive and endlessly full-featured as the FUSE software is, I quickly got over it. You can't duplicate this sort of power with a few knobs anyway. The three biggest selling points for me were the price, the variety of effects (and the Bronco completely eclipsed my expectations there), and ease of recording.

Since this amp is so new and I couldn't find a single full-featured review before placing my order at Musician's Friend, I was a little gunshy about going in blind. Even after just a few hours of playing with the Bronco, I really couldn't be happier with this amp, and I very, very, very highly recommend it.
My kneejerk reaction to the Bronco when I first yanked it out of the box was "oh, this is kinda neat". 8 different amps being modeled, 12 different built-in effects, a more-than-respectable amount of power under the hood...for those first fifteen minutes or whatever, I wasn't blown away or anything, but I definitely felt happy with what I'd bought....and then I plugged in the USB cable and launched Fender's FUSE software. My jaw dropped. This is INCREDIBLE. To really unlock the full power of the Bronco, you really, really do need to have it plugged into a computer. Everything's endlessly customizable. When you fiddle with knobs on the amp, you can see the changes in real-time on FUSE. You can daisy-chain together virtual effect pedals and customize numerous different options for each effect. There's a seemingly endless amount of sculpting you can do with your sounds, and when you have it just perfect, you can save those settings to the amp and bypass FUSE when you want to pull that out next time.I'll confess to being a complete amateur on bass, but I had the amp delivered to my office, and a couple of the very seasoned bassists I work with had to force themselves to stop playing with it. I can't get over how many different effects they are and how heavily they can be customized. The sound quality is perfect for what I wanted too. Another really nice advantage is that the USB connection allows for straight digital recording, so I don't have to mic the amp or deal with digital->analog->digital conversion if I want to record to my computer.
I only received the amp today, so I can't speak about long-term reliability. The build quality seems top-notch, though.
With so many effects and amp models handy and with as easy as it is to sculpt, tweak, and store those sounds, the value here is borderline-surreal. It's a great deal for someone who's just getting started with recording since the Bronco is so plug-and-play over USB. I really wanted to play with a lot of different effects, and the Bronco gives me so much that it'd cost a fortune to try to replicate this with actual pedals. Even a good all-in-one effects box would cost about as much as this entire package.

the amp modeling section on this thing is pretty cool. the effects are alright and the compression is good. however I feel like im plugging into a computer rather than an amp. The Fuse software uses 2 third party technologies and the procces in which you set up and register your amp is quite a pain. After I delt with that mess I finally opened the software. It was all hype.... the whole thing is very confusing to use and does not really matter because of all the presets on the amp itself. Im not sure at this point if i will keep this amp or sell it, my favorite feature however is the XLR out so you can run this rig thru a PA system. For the price range is a good, loud amp with plenty of different presets and options. However, if you are buying this because of the Fuse software please think again or try it out first. thats why i rated it so low, I feel as if Fender is marketing this amp as a easy to use recording amp when the software is really sub par.

Comments about Fender Bronco 40 40W 1x10 Bass Combo Amp:

I started many years ago with a 57 P Bass and never looked back. Being 63 and retired from the clubs and theatres, I wanted a small amp for recording my bass compositions. I never expected this little inexpensive amp to be as good as it is. How a 10 inch driver can generate such an awesome sound I don't know but real bassists will have a blast. I am 63 and never used effects until I got this little jewel. Thanks Fender!

Guitar player since mid-1960s, relatively new to bass. Tired of lugging my 62 lb. Bassman TV15 to practice & jams, got a real nice deal (under $200) at MF on a "Gentle Used" unit. Nice choice of tones, probably won't use FUSE much. Overall a nice bass amp for practice and small gigs at a great price.

Comments about Fender Bronco 40 40W 1x10 Bass Combo Amp:

I have used this amp on stage both through the PA and on it's own. Through the PA it was used for a stage monitor and the volume was on 3 or 4 and was plenty loud enough. On it's own I had the gain and volume turned up about 3/4 each and it was plenty loud. Both times I was playing with a 5 peice country band in a medium sized hall. I was looking to downsize my gear without sacrificing sound and this little amp did just that. Truthfully I was afraid to order this amp because of the 10" speaker, but if you play at reasonable volumes and your looking for a clean bass sound, this amp will do the job nicely. The presets are very close to the amps they are designed to imulate. Overall, I'd say that big things do come in small packages. I'm very happy with this amp and the best thing is, it doesn't weigh a ton like most bass amps do. I own this amp for bass and a Mustang 2 for lead guitar, both have performed beyond expectations.

        Great practice amp

        By John Ferguson

        from Virginia

Comments about Fender Bronco 40 40W 1x10 Bass Combo Amp:

The amp itself is a 10 but the software is a 4. Maybe I'm just learning it since I've only been using it for a few days. The community looks promising as the the capabilities of the software.
Love the fact that I can plug this into my computer to see the controls and make adjustments. Plus the firmware can be adjusted as needed and you can upload new configurations and save them.

The software isn't there, yet. It is awkward and non-intuitive. The interface looks great but is difficult to navigate especially going from the community back to the amp controls. I found it easier to exit the software and restart. Since it is software, that can be improved. Part of the problem might be poor instructions.
Zero problems so far although some settings can create quite a bit of noise, but I'm blaming that on the settings.
Well worth the money. I'd say it sounds great but it can should anyway you want it to! Might not rock the house, but it is fine as a practice amp.

        Very nice

Comments about Fender Bronco 40 40W 1x10 Bass Combo Amp:

If you're wanting a great amp for in home use, this is the only one you need to look at. It sounds amazing and at 40 watts has more power than you'll ever need in the house. I turn it only to level 2 or 3 and it sounds huge and deeeeep. Honestly, it's not enough power for a bar gig if you play metal or hard rock, but it would work at a small place or probably a garage party. And probably great for a church band. It does have good impressive power for what it is for sure, and it's clean and bright. The sound is very BIG, and for a 10 inch speaker it really booms. But's not the kind of amp you want to try and over-crank to match your buddies 80 or 100 watt guitar amp playing metal. I know this because I like hard rock and metal in the realm of RUSH and Sabbath, which this amp is great for, but again in the house playing to the cd, or with your buddy playing at lower volume. This little beast in no way has that cheap small bass amp sound that you might imagine. It has a 100% totally professional sound. And at a rock level it does have just enough umph to cut through with a drummer as long as he's not crazy if that helps any... Realistically, in home it sounds as big and deep as my 150 watt 15 inch Rumble, but it has all those affects included so it's more fun and cool to tinker around with. The amp models are distinctive and give you all the sounds you need so you don't get bored with the same ol' thing all the time. In a nutshell, this is probably the best amp I've ever bought as far as price, best sounding, clearest, cleanest, brightest, etc. I just wouldn't use it outside of the house for a gig. I take that back! Unless it was a toned down mellow rock, wedding, church or resturaunt thing. I personally don't play those kinds of gigs, but if you do this sucker is really clean and deep for those low volume settings... If you plan on just home use and practice (which most of us do about 90% of our playing) or recording, this is by far the best amp you can get. And don't forget all the FUSE software and computer advantages. I haven't experimented with all that yet but I bet it's awesome.
Has more features and sounds than any bass amp you'll find anywhere at an unreal price.
Solid as a rock. Fender has never disappointed me.
this is a great deal. Everything is built in. You could spend a lot more than that just buying the affects this amp has. Can't go wrong here.

Great Amp That Does Exactly What it Says it Does!

        By jblittlefield

        from North Carolina

Comments about Fender Bronco 40 40W 1x10 Bass Combo Amp:

A great practice/recording amp that can easily handle gigs so long as you have a PA or some other means of increasing the amp's volume. Great sounds. Easy-to-use. Tons of fun when tweaking with the FUSE software. Overall an awesome little amp at an unbelievable price. IMHO, better than the Line 6 Studio 10 (which I also own).
Three-band EQ with effects (including compressor), master volume, direct out, AUX In, and headphones. Covers all the basics and then goes a step further with the USB and FUSE software.
Have had no problems since I bought the amp about 3 months ago. Seems well-built for what it was designed for (i.e., a recording amp).
I can get just about any sound I need out of this amp -- and I need alot as I play everything from thrash metal to classic blues and everything in between. Is it as good as the modeled amps? No...but they're darn close. The direct out allows me to plug into the PA and take my sounds wherever I need to go.
