If you have no intention of ever hooking the Bronco up to a computer, then you're probably not going to get that much out of this amp. Fender's FUSE software isn't just some nice little bonus...it's a really essential element in unleashing the full power of this amp. Being able to save those presets to the Bronco means you don't have to keep the amp tethered to a PC or Macbook or whatever, but you'll need to -- and want to! -- plug in that USB cable at least every once in a while. I was a little annoyed at first that I couldn't do more of this sculpting on the amp itself, but with as intuitive and endlessly full-featured as the FUSE software is, I quickly got over it. You can't duplicate this sort of power with a few knobs anyway. The three biggest selling points for me were the price, the variety of effects (and the Bronco completely eclipsed my expectations there), and ease of recording.

Since this amp is so new and I couldn't find a single full-featured review before placing my order at Musician's Friend, I was a little gunshy about going in blind. Even after just a few hours of playing with the Bronco, I really couldn't be happier with this amp, and I very, very, very highly recommend it.
My kneejerk reaction to the Bronco when I first yanked it out of the box was "oh, this is kinda neat". 8 different amps being modeled, 12 different built-in effects, a more-than-respectable amount of power under the hood...for those first fifteen minutes or whatever, I wasn't blown away or anything, but I definitely felt happy with what I'd bought....and then I plugged in the USB cable and launched Fender's FUSE software. My jaw dropped. This is INCREDIBLE. To really unlock the full power of the Bronco, you really, really do need to have it plugged into a computer. Everything's endlessly customizable. When you fiddle with knobs on the amp, you can see the changes in real-time on FUSE. You can daisy-chain together virtual effect pedals and customize numerous different options for each effect. There's a seemingly endless amount of sculpting you can do with your sounds, and when you have it just perfect, you can save those settings to the amp and bypass FUSE when you want to pull that out next time.I'll confess to being a complete amateur on bass, but I had the amp delivered to my office, and a couple of the very seasoned bassists I work with had to force themselves to stop playing with it. I can't get over how many different effects they are and how heavily they can be customized. The sound quality is perfect for what I wanted too. Another really nice advantage is that the USB connection allows for straight digital recording, so I don't have to mic the amp or deal with digital->analog->digital conversion if I want to record to my computer.
I only received the amp today, so I can't speak about long-term reliability. The build quality seems top-notch, though.
With so many effects and amp models handy and with as easy as it is to sculpt, tweak, and store those sounds, the value here is borderline-surreal. It's a great deal for someone who's just getting started with recording since the Bronco is so plug-and-play over USB. I really wanted to play with a lot of different effects, and the Bronco gives me so much that it'd cost a fortune to try to replicate this with actual pedals. Even a good all-in-one effects box would cost about as much as this entire package.

the amp modeling section on this thing is pretty cool. the effects are alright and the compression is good. however I feel like im plugging into a computer rather than an amp. The Fuse software uses 2 third party technologies and the procces in which you set up and register your amp is quite a pain. After I delt with that mess I finally opened the software. It was all hype.... the whole thing is very confusing to use and does not really matter because of all the presets on the amp itself. Im not sure at this point if i will keep this amp or sell it, my favorite feature however is the XLR out so you can run this rig thru a PA system. For the price range is a good, loud amp with plenty of different presets and options. However, if you are buying this because of the Fuse software please think again or try it out first. thats why i rated it so low, I feel as if Fender is marketing this amp as a easy to use recording amp when the software is really sub par.

Love this amp. Just wish it had more power.

Comments about Fender Bronco 40 40W 1x10 Bass Combo Amp:

This amp is everything that the descriptions say, it's awesomely fun to use and can mimic many different popular amp models and sounds. I just wish it had more power. At first I thought it would be enough to keep up with my small studio combo group, but it's really not. But it's not too big an issue because I can take the DI out and put it into the PA board or I can route it through to a Fender Rumble 100 amp that I bought, which is pretty clean a does a decent job of acting as a second speaker/power booster for a total of 140 watts power, which is definitely enough for my needs.

One small complaint: since the effects, compression and amp model knobs are all "soft" controls, on very rare occasions, the vibration will cause one of the knobs to "move", and suddenly I will have effects where I had none before, or the amp model changes to its next-door neighbor on the switch. It's really only a tiny problem. It's happened maybe 3 times in months of fairly heavy usage.

FENDER PLEASE MAKE A 100-WATT 2x10" VERSION OF THIS AMP, I WILL BUY IT SO FAST IT WILL MAKE YOUR HEAD SPIN. Until then, I am sticking with my Bronco 40!

I love being able to play with different sounds and effects and amp models. To my surprise, I find myself drawn to models I would have never thought I would like or use, such as the SWR clone "redhead". You never know what you might like until you start playing around with it!

Bought this for my 12 year old to practice his electric stand up bass. Nice amp for the money. Plenty loud and great sound for a beginner. Have yet to dive into all the cool adjustments, am sure it will provide many hours of interesting fun.

Comments about Fender Bronco 40 40W 1x10 Bass Combo Amp:

I'm a guitar player and I wanted to get a cheap bass and an amp that I can use for jamming, recording, and performances. I already own the mustang III v2 guitar amp and love it, so I decided to go with the bass amp model. So far so good. The different amp models have very different and useful voices. I can't speak to their historical accuracy, but they all sound good and bassy to my ears. The onboard effects are cool and musical. I jammed with it in a full band setting and it sat in the mix great. I wish the user interface was more like that of the mustang 3s. It doesn't have quite the variety and functionality as that, but you still get a ton of options and value for a very reasonable price. I'm a converter to the digital replication and solid state movement and I encourage others to be as well. This is, without question, the best value on the market.

Comments about Fender Bronco 40 40W 1x10 Bass Combo Amp:

This bass amp is a great all-around amp for those who are only looking at owning one amp to cover a multitude of purposes, or who don't want to sink a ton of money into add-ons like effects loops, etc. It has enough built-in features to make playing fun and to fit a wide variety of sounds, while at the same time being extremely portable. It also has enough power to handle small-scale gigs if you're going to run it through a PA system anyways (I use it for worship at church), but at only 40W it's obviously not going to blow anyone away or stand on it's own with a whole band. If you're on a limited budget or are just looking in this price range in general, this amp is a terrific bang for your buck.

Comments about Fender Bronco 40 40W 1x10 Bass Combo Amp:

My second time around with this amp. I sold my first Bronco 40 to a band member for home recording studio, and I started using it again there. After a while I decided to re-purchase the amp because I was getting such great tones out of it with a P-bass I'm now using.

For the purchase price, there are few bass amps out there who can compete with the Bronco 40 when considering its flexibility, the ease of transporting it, and the tone you get when properly set up. There's not another modeling amp that does as much, plays as loud, or sounds as good, even playing live in a small venue. Add it to your audition list!

Comments about Fender Bronco 40 40W 1x10 Bass Combo Amp:

So, after 45 years playing bass, I'm done working in clubs. I still jam occasionally and might fill-in now and then but I didn't need a 200 watt amp and 4x10 cab to lug around any more. Just something light weight and easily porable.

Having owned a Fender Mustang II for around 2 years now, I figured I would give the Bronco 40 a shot and I was not disapointed.

Like the Mustang series of guitar amps, you can hook this up to your computer via a USB cable and access the amps presets visually on virtual amp models using the FUSE software and tweak them to your desired taste.

Unlike the Mustang I and II guitar amps, almost all the default presets that come loaded on the amp are very usable as is or with just minor tweaking that can be done on the amp without hooking it to a computer.

FUSE is still great for backing up your personal presets and creating custom sets of presets that you can change to depending on the venue your doing.

The amp is plenty loud enough for small get togethers and even small blues clubs where your the group isn't getting that loud. It can still be used in larger venues by simply running an XLR cable out the back of it to the house mioxer.

The amp models sound dang good - even at low volumes for late night playing around the house. I really dig the "Rockin Peg" model and the Fender models especially.

It's also a great interface for recording bass in your home studio.

The Bronco 40 suites me and my requirements to a "T" and I am thoroughly satisfied with it.

I started many years ago with a 57 P Bass and never looked back. Being 63 and retired from the clubs and theatres, I wanted a small amp for recording my bass compositions. I never expected this little inexpensive amp to be as good as it is. How a 10 inch driver can generate such an awesome sound I don't know but real bassists will have a blast. I am 63 and never used effects until I got this little jewel. Thanks Fender!

Guitar player since mid-1960s, relatively new to bass. Tired of lugging my 62 lb. Bassman TV15 to practice & jams, got a real nice deal (under $200) at MF on a "Gentle Used" unit. Nice choice of tones, probably won't use FUSE much. Overall a nice bass amp for practice and small gigs at a great price.
