I've owned this amp for about a year or so. It was the first amp I ever bought, before I always played acoustic. This isn't a bad amp for the money, but you should have an understanding that it's not performance or recording worthy, and it's not gonna get that loud. I like the effects, overall they're pretty good, especially the Flange. Reverb and Chorus are pretty good. The biggest problem I have with this amp is it doesn't handle bass very well, and the clean tone is less than sufficient. With the bass at about 6 this thing sounds like it's bottoming out, and gives an awful tone. I had it checked out and supposedly there's nothing wrong. It also gives out way too much feedback, especially clean tone. However it handles distortion pretty well I have to say, and gets somewhat loud. I hooked up a DS-1, and a Digitech Death Metal pedal, and have been able to get a nice bottom end distortion type of tone. It's not bad without a pedal, but it's worth the $40 to get a DS-1 it will sound much better. Overall, it's a decent metal/hard rock amp to jam on or practice with, but overall you can do better for the money.

This amp sounds really good, with one exception. When you play it clean it has a bad buzz. I was about to purchase one of these from a local music store and noticed the buzz. The salesman said he would try to fix it but couldn't. So I played another one at a different music store and it had the same problem. I'm thinking it may be a consistent problem. My advice would be to buy a Roland Cube 30 or maybe a 30 watt line 6 spider.

This amp is amazing

By Playinfool

from waterville,ME

This amp is a true fender, the tone is absoulutly awesome and it is of high quality, it has an awesome sounding distortion for the blues or whatever. The effects are also pretty sweet, it is loud as well, it has a very genuine tone, in my opinion it is an exellent amp for the blues and many other genres of music.

Superb Quality and Sound

By MobileType

This suprised me in the store. I was trying out an line 6 amp and then this fender champion. The sound off my Ibanez was outstanding. I bought it a year ago and not a single thing has happened to this baby. I hook it up to a Ibanaz Wah-Wah to get in the cool licks. Distortion is outstanding for a fender. Very Pleased, though I would get to 900 or 1000 version of this if you want the loudest sound for gigs.

I'd Buy The Fender FM 25 DSP

By Johnny-18KCV

from Reynoldsburg, OH

I got this amp just to have something to practice with that didn't make my ears bleed and I was thinking that the effects would be a nice bonus, let's just say I was wrong. The reverb is okay but nothing better then my reverb pedal and it's the same with the rest of the effects on this amp.Really the only problems with it are:There?s a buzz on the clean channel but it's not that bad, the light is way too bright and its effects aren't that great, they're good, but they got nothing on pedals.Everything else is great, but if I were you I'd buy The Fender FM 25 DSP, cause it's just a loud (or quiet) with better effects.

A Great Sounding Practice Amp

By Ryan-1J3cE

from Winnipeg, MB, Canada

I just recently bought this amp. It was on sale and I got it for a great value. This little amp sounds great, clean or with alot of gain. I wanted an amp that was just that...an ordinary amp for practicing, not one of those high tech things with billions of processed effects. It's great for what it is...a powerful practice amp. It has alot of distortion and sounds great. It can get really loud, I hardly ever turn the volume past 2. When clean, this amp sounds awesome. It shimmers when you have it on the reverb setting. The effects are nice, however I have a Digitech effects pedal so I dont really need them much. Overall I am very happy with this amp. It probably isn't the greatest amp for on stage, but its fantastic for practicing. It sounds great. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for this type of amp.

Great small amp!

By LunaTick

from Colorado Springs, CO

I have found that anything under 25 watts in an amp just doesn't let you play rock as it should be played. I was looking for more "thump" and the Fender Champion 300 provided that thump. Originally I looked at the Fender Frontman 25R, which sounds as good, but the FX portion of the Champion 300 sold me. The volume control is excellent. Good sound can be produced at a low setting. The chorus setting on the FX knob is just so cool. This truely is a great small amp!

Solid amp, could use a better speaker...

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I bought this amp about 8 months ago when I started playing more seriously in a rock band. It's a great practice amp for jamming and such, but if you want to perform on a stage it won't be able to hold its own against much louder amps. However, there lies a simple and practical solution to this problem. What I did and what I recommend doing is to replace the speaker; the one that it comes with is pretty crappy and once you turn it up all the way it doesn't really get louder, just dirtier sounding. I replaced the speaker with the Red Coat Ramrod (made by Eminence) and it is the best choice i have made. While the speaker is the same size, it is capable of putting out 100 db, as opposed to the (approximately) 96-98 db coming from the fender amp. The result? the amp is now about twice as loud and it is much cleaner, even when cranked up all the way. It can now easily play on stage.

Fender Champ 300 DSP

This amp sounds good, but the quality of worksmanship is lacking. A couple of the controls feel loose. The speaker is cheap. I ordered a Jensen MOD speaker for it as an upgrade. I hope it improves the bottom end a little.

Sweet Practice Amp

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

This amp is great just to sit at home and jam, it does go pretty loud, and I play it with my band just for practicing, it's not loud enough to gig with but at practices you get the idea what's going on, even though the drummer's louder. Effects are good but I don't really play with them, it's got a nice distortion for what I play, and the clean is beautiful. (Note: If you practice with a drummer, get a smaller amp connected through the input two jack to the small amp as a monitor for the drummer =])

Extremely Loud !!!

I just bought this amp with a Squier Affinity Fat Strat, and I am blown away. The effects are awesome! The distortion is pretty slick. (NOTE: That this is my first electric guitar and amp.) I can play along to Santana, Switchfoot, Marley, and there is absolutely no difference! Bottom Line: Great Amp, Great Effects, Great Price.

its decent

This amp is great for practice and jamming, but not loud enough for large gigs. I played in one small gig with it, and it was barely loud enough to be heard over the drums. The effects are nice but it tends too get more distorted instead of loud when you turn up the volume.

Returned twice (Fender won't repair)

By TeleLover-MbclG

from Fort Collins, CO

This amp is good when it works. I've had two bad DSP's (in a matter of 3 months); if you push it the amp eventually sounds like an AM radio. Apparently Fender will no longer repair this amp under warranty if it breaks; I've just had the fortunate experience of having a great music store nearby.

Wonderful practice amp

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I purchased this little bugger several months ago and I could not be happier. It is the best practice amp on the market in my book, suprisingly very loud, and I don't get hernias carying it to practice. I can be heard over our drummer and always have great dirty tones and the best clean tones availible. Does have a tendancy to feed back something fierce when used with distortion, but a Rocktron HUSH solves that perfectly. Not loud enough for live shows, but I doubt if anyone buys 30 watt amps for live needs.

Toy amp

By Rover09

from Panama

I have had this amp for about 3 months and it has already began to break down. Mine is a "Made in Malaysia" unit and you definately get -no offense- Malaysian quality. A bunch of nice features and overall good looking amp but it tends to buzz and give technical problems in the short term. Would not recommend to buy this one.

Solid amp

By The Leech

from Fairmont, WV

I purchased this amp a few months ago, and am very satisfied with it. For one, the clean tone is amazing. I can really get any clean tone I want, and it really helps that there's a built in chorus feature. The distortion is solid, and there is enough gain to play most songs. I do, however, use a Boss MetalZone instead. This amp is also very loud. Seriously, I can't play it above a 2 or 3 without my ears exploding. It performs fine at gigs, honestly. If you're ever at a large gig, dont' forget you can always mic it to a PA system. This thing can easily power over a drummer, and if you feel it's a bit lacking you can always get a distortion pedal and use the pedal's level function to boost your volume. The effects are good, but the delay is lacking a bit. Not enough customization to be useful. The chorus, trem, and reverb are superb however.Overall it's a very nice amp. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a decent amp to power them through their intermediate years of playing guitar.

Effects are nice

I would recommend this amp just for playing around and practicing, its not very loud and it tends to get some static due to there "Dyna touch" technology, I like the effects on the amp though.

Pretty good amp

By JakeRogue

This guitar amp is pretty good but a bit expensive for what you get. It packs power but not gig-worthy or something that grows as the volume does. The effects are definitely nice to play with, but again this isn't a performer. I'd recommend as just jam amp and it does that well, but if you want to be serious, there's more around this price range. Still, good quality, lasted me a long time, but not quite so authentic in any sound department.
