Bought this to add under my Mesa Boogie Nomad 100 single 12. Perfect fit and match and sounds great! Extended bass and tight sounding mids and highs. So sound quality excellent. The reason for three stars was construction quality leaves a lot to be desired! Speaker jack fell out of the back when I pulled the speaker cable out. So I pulled the back open thinking just loose hardware. This is when the real or lack of quality showed up. This cab was made in Mexico and shows it! Most of the screws holding the rear panel on were stripped out. they were two different sizes and most to short to do the job hence the reason they pulled out. I increased the screws from #6 to #8 and new finishing washers to match the larger screws. Next was the jack repair, a large fender washer and new jack with longer threads was required to fix that problem. I have maintained and repaired my own equipment for many years so this was not a difficult job. Next the baffle that holds the speaker in was coming loose from the front of the cab. Here the original hardware was just loose. My point is that quality control at the source should have caught these defects. For the money it was an OK value not great just OK. With my tweaks the cabinet is perfect now.

Comments about Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 112 80W 1x12 Guitar Extension Cab:

I purchased this extension speaker to add some bottom end to my Carvin Vintage 16. The cabinet sounds great and has added a great deal of tone to the amp. The closed back design is solid and the tweed covering is nicely done. I've also used this cabinet with a Fender Super Champ XD which comes stock with a 10" speaker. The Hot Rod Deluxe enclosure gives the Super Champ a great deal more perceived volume and puts it's tone on par with way more expensive amps. I'm very impressed with this cabinet.

So far sounds very good..

Comments about Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 112 80W 1x12 Guitar Extension Cab:

I got this a cab a couple weeks ago to add to my Blues jr. Since The BJ doesn't have a ext speaker jack (yet) I plugged the cab into the BJ after disconnecting the BJ amp speaker. It took the boxy sound away from the BJ. Sounds pretty damn good so far. Looks great. I will soon get a ext speaker jack installed in the BJ so I can play thru both speakers at the same time. I'm also considering replacing the HRD amp I sold a while ago. I think it's a good fit for both of them. Was a little spooked hearing about everyone changing the speaker. This speaker sounds good so far...

Good Cab for your blues deluxe

Comments about Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 112 80W 1x12 Guitar Extension Cab:

I laugh at some of the other reviewers...I mean how can someone rate this cab a 4+ and say they replaced the speakers straight away...makes no sense. I think guitar people are compulsive tinkerers...it's part of the fun. I think the speakers were chosen correctly by the manufacturer..YMMV. Perfect compliment to my BDRI played through a 2010 PRS SASNF...PUUUURRRRFECT TONE TO MY EAR...of course with the correct settings...Every guitar/pickups/setup/playing style will require it's own settings to make it perfect, but I promise you, that perfect tone is there.

I have been playing my Fender Hot Rod for years, since 1999, I play with a rock/pop/blues band and this extra cabinet really makes a HUGH diff. I can't believe I waited so long to get it, suggestion- Don't set it on below the amp in a stack formation, set it on the other side of the stage or room and the sound is clearer and you can really tell the diff between the open back amp and the closed back ext cab. Comments about Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 112 80W 1x12 Guitar Extension Cab:

I wasn't terribly impressed with the Fender Hot Rod Rod Deluxe tone, too thin and treble for my taste. I bought the amp, sound unheard, from a local store that was going out of business. Adding the cabinet seemed to thicken the tone, giving it more mids and bass. Not sure exactly how this happened since the speakers are the same. In my opinion, if you are going to play the Hot Rod Deluxe, you need this cabinet.

Comments about Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 112 80W 1x12 Guitar Extension Cab:

I've been an owner of a very well-used hot rod deluxe for like 5 years. I gig with it at least twice a week. For the money, it can't be beat (once you replace the awful groove tubes). It can go toe to toe with much more expensive (or vintage) amps, as far as volume--with respectable tone. But it doesn't come close in punch or low end. I figured this cab might do the trick. And it sure did. HOWEVER, I had to replace the awful celestion speaker, first. I threw in a peavey sheffield 1230 I had laying around and it really brought out this cab's low end. The celestion just added pure lower-mid mud to my tone. Speaker swap resulted in a FAR more useful cab. After replacing the speaker, the cab does exactly as advertised. Why fender decided to go through all the trouble of putting these cabs out and using such a horrible speaker? We will never know. Buy one, I hear the current stock is the last they're producing. But replace the speaker--immediately.

Comments about Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 112 80W 1x12 Guitar Extension Cab:

I read a lot of mixed reviews on this extension cab and I ended up buying it because I really wanted one that was made for my fender hot rod deluxe. I decided to trust fender and see how it sounded. I don't totally hate the sound but I really wish they had put a different speaker in it. I am looking to replace it now although I haven't decided with what yet. There is not enough mids on the speaker in the extension cab... it seems like its either all bass (which doesn't sound good on this speaker) or it is all treble which is really sharp to my ears (some call it crisp). Anyway if you are playing with a band once you add the extension cab there is so much punch that only the first part of your note breaks through.. if you turn it up loud enough to be heard you are way louder than everyone else in your band.

Comments about Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 112 80W 1x12 Guitar Extension Cab:

Well hello there. This is what I've done to get the sound I like from my Hot Rod Deluxe II setup: first I replaced the combo's Special Eminence speaker with a Celestion Vintage 30. Big improvement - it sounds like the newer HRDs have a quality speaker already installed, so this may no longer be necessary.

Next I bought this extension cabinet. Again, big improvement. Far more balanced now from top to bottom, with tight, full bass. It really smooths out the rough edges, and provides a larger and deeper sound. The extension cabinet has transformed the HRD. Sonically it's now classy and big. Also a significant cosmetic improvement. The combo and the extension cabinet look great stacked.

In my opinion the extension cabinet is almost a must. Start out with the combo, but seriously consider adding this extension cabinet down the line.

This Hot Rod Deluxe setup now sounds pretty sophisticated, whether it's playing clean or being driven hard with drive/distortion. I'm impressed.

Comments about Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 112 80W 1x12 Guitar Extension Cab:

This cab is exactly what I needed to add a little more punch to my Hot Rod Deluxe III. I've seen a few comments about how this cab has a mismatched speaker for the Hot Rod amp but this is not the case with my amp. My Hot Rod Deluxe III comes with a stock Celestion speaker as does the cab. I do think the Hot Rod I and II's were stocked with Eminence speakers which might present a voicing problem but it sounds amazing with the III series. I've also used my Super Champ XD through this cab not to get more volume (which it also does) but to get that 12" sound. All in all, it is an excellent cabinet for a very reasonable price. If you ever find your Hot Rod Deluxe III sounding a little thin, pick up this cabinet and you will feel the bass response through the floor. I have never had my amp above 4 while connected to the cab. Low volume will never be a complaint!

I recently added this speaker extension to my Fender HR Deluxe. It improved the overall performance, tone and sound projection of my Amp. I no longer had to increase my Amp volume setting to be heard better. The Fender Extension Cab is a great addition/upgrade to your Hot Rod Deluxe or any other Amp. An excellent investment.

Comments about Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 112 80W 1x12 Guitar Extension Cab:

From a looks stand-point this cab is perfect if you're pairing it with a Deluxe. The speaker, however, is a different matter. It's rated at 80 watts, which is too high for a 40 watt amp already pushing one 12". What's more the stock speaker in a Deluxe is an Eminence which is voiced with Fender in mind (unlike the knock-off Celestion that comes in this cab and sounds generic and muffled). I dropped an Eminence C-Rex in mine and solved the problem, but had to drop another 90 bucks to do so. Considering the price of the cab, it should come with the right speaker in it, as I doubt many people are going to buy one of these to use with anything but a Deluxe. The boys at Fender obviously didn't think this one through. That being said, at least the enclosure is plywood and not pressboard like the jokers at Marshall are tossing off these days. Ugh...

Comments about Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 112 80W 1x12 Guitar Extension Cab:

First a little skeptical, but now convinced - the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 112 Extension Cab does indeed add additional punch, just as advertised. However, another nice side effect I discovered is the fact that the output seems to have cleared up a bit. With "clearing up" I actually mean that the guitar sound comes across more defined, each single string seems more noticeable - it doesn't mean that the "clean" or "dirty" sounds were more clean or less dirty, but the ability to cut thru the mix was perceived as quite improved. The craftsmanship is just as good as my Hot Rod Deluxe amp. From a cosmetics standpoint, the whole stack looks awesome - at least in my humble opinion. The only thing I don't like too much is the price tag.The current offer seems almost ridiculous, considering that you can pick up a 4x12 cabinet for just as much or even less money -but only this one seems to fit perfectly under my amp...

Comments about Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 112 80W 1x12 Guitar Extension Cab:

This was bought to add an extension cabinet to my mesa boogie nomad 100. My nomad was a single 12 speaker with an open back cab and needed a little more bass. the sealed fender cabinet was the exact same dimensions and fits nicely under the boogie. Sound was as I expected, bass increase as well as a tight sound from the closed back cabinet. Also raised the nomad to a better overall height. Very happy with my purchase. I did not give it 5 stars for several reasons. 1) made in Mexico which I expected for the price but that is the problem! Speaker jack fell out of the back of the cabinet when I removed the cable. Compared to yesteryear and I have owned a lot of fender equipment construction was much better. To repair the speaker jack and not go through returning the cabinet I opened the back to see what holds the jack in place. Half the screws used to seal the back of the cabinet were to short and already stripped out. There were two different length screws used and none were long enough to do the job properly! They were #6 wood screws so a trip to Lowes for proper hardware about 8 duckets worth of new fasteners (went to #8 wood screws and new finishing washers) took care of the problem. The jack is another issue that will require a large fender washer and a new jack with longer threads. about 6 duckets in hardware to repair properly. The strips of wood that hold the back on are only pressed wood and one side was spilt open from not predrilling holes and forcing the screws to create there own holes when installed. This is a time saver at the factory but poor practice in my opinion! The front baffle that holds the speaker in place was held in with 6 bolts, nuts and washers. All were loose and if I did not retighten these the vibration from the speaker would have caused these all to come apart! So over all construction was less then stellar and about what I expected for the price. Still final quality checks should have caught all of this on the assembly line.

I got this to match the Hot Rod Deluxe. Everything is good about it except that I had to take the rear cover off and tighten every screw for the speaker. Not just a little loose but a lot loose. I don't understand how they missed that. But, once the annoying problem was easily fixed everything was great. For price and value I give it 5 stars. There's no reason to complain about the speaker at this price.

Comments about Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 112 80W 1x12 Guitar Extension Cab:

If you're looking for a great amp for a reasonable price, this is it. If you're good at tweaking knobs it can pull off any tone, no joke. Anything from clean blues to rock and metal and back.
The guitarist I work with has one of these and has been using it for years. If you take the time to look for the right sound, you can pull just about anything out of it. It's a really versatile amp, and it's great for the money.
I'll add that it's a bit heavier than it looks, but it's still a lot lighter than per se a Marshall stack or something..!
If you've read that it isn't loud, that is just utter nonsense. Even live, my friend rarely goes above two and it's still audible over the drums , so anyone spouting that this amp isn't loud might want to find out how to use a volume knob.
We're constantly using it for professional recording, and it carries it's weight. If you want a 'go to' amp for cheaper than some of the other ridiculous prices, this is the way to go.
And just in case you think I'm another one of those fender buffs that glorifies the brand name for no reason other than owning it, I'm not. I generally don't care for Fender, but they do their job right and this amp is amazing.
                  Go for it.

I purchased a new extension cab a few years ago to go along with my HRDx amp. I didnt mind paying alittle extra for the matching pair, although I think it should come with a better speaker. I swapped out my amp speaker for a celestion v30 and it made a big difference. The v30 handles distortion tones much better than the stock speaker in either enclosure. Just a better overall sound, clearer no muffled tones. I think I will swap the speaker in the enclosure as well, either a v30 or greenback. I think I will be happy with that.

I bought this cab to go with my Blues Deluxe and it looks and sounds great. I also bought this cab to go with the new Night Train and was suprised at how well the two sounded together. I really did not hear the undesirable sounds that the other reviewer says came from this cab as a stand alone cab. All in all, this cab serves two functions as an extensions cab and as a cab for my Night Train and would consider it a good buy.
