This is a great amp that stands up to the hype ... The models in the amp itself are good, but when you tweak them yourself or (even better) through the included FUSE software, the amp really starts to shine. You can also download user and Fender-created presets that open up the tonal spectrum of this wonderful tool. The distortions are rich and cream to rude and edgy and the cleans are just what you hope to get from a Fender amp. While I do not care at all for some of the presets, the beauty is that you can tweak them or get rid of them altogether. Who needs 100 different sounds anyway .... ALSO, this amp (unlike the Line 6 modeling amps) loves pedals. I can use my Boss Super Overdrive to ramp up heavier distortions or make the clean tones gritty without losing their almost tubelike warmth. I really love this amp and play it more than I do my tube amp, which is saying a lot!
The only thing this amp doesn't come with is a "more cowbell" setting and a drum machine. It has TONS of features and, when it is used with the four-button footwswitch PLUS the two-button footswitch that you would have to buy separately (Yes, that makes six in all), you have a very user-friendly tone machine that mimicks sounds of a truckload of different amps.
Overall, I think the quality of the amp is great, although you can see that it was built overseas, but what isn't made in China or wherever these days (other than amps that cost more than my first car)? Fender did a good job of balancing build quality with the price point. You get what you pay for AND MORE with this amp, especially given the fact that you are playing through two 12" Celestions in this model of the Mustang line, which is a great improvement over the Fender "special design" speakers that come with the Mustan I and II (I owned both of them in the past).
Champagne tone on a beer budget ... This amp is, simply put, a great buy and even better if you can pick one up used ...

The first thing I noticed is that all of the "clean" tones sounded dirty unless you almost completely took down the gain. Plugging it into the PC helped to make adjustments, but still it was lacking the Fender clean tones I wanted to hear. Besides that, I noticed a funny noise during use on the cleans. An almost buzzing sound. Now, it could be that the amp I received was faulty. When I looked it up I discovered numerous complaints about a "fizz" that people heard. For some people it may not be noticeable or bothersome but for me it was terrible. Not all of the Mustangs exhibit this particular quirk, apparently.
On another note I found the gain to not be to my liking. It lacked the oomph I was looking for. It could be a problem unique to the new amp I received. My advice is to play it before you buy it. I bought mine based on customer reviews. I found myself playing through my Frontman 212R instead because it just sounded better to me with my tube screamer and Boss equalizer.I really wanted to love this amplifier because of the possibilities it offered. There is just so much you can do when you plug it into your PC and would be a great value if it wasn't for the odd noise accompanying the clean tones (that all sound a little dirty unless you roll the gain to like 2). Just make sure it sounds the way you expect it too before spending the money. Thankfully musicians friend have made this experience less painful with their excellent customer service. For the record I played a Mustang 3 at a local store and thought it sounded much better than my Mustang IV so like I said it could have been a problem unique to the amplifier I received. I will gladly purchase one in the future if they can work the kinks out because I love Fender solid states.

Comments about Fender Mustang IV 150W 2x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I have many amps ranging from Mesa Boogie Triaxis, Triple Rectifier, Marshall JMP1 (Voodoo Platinum modded)JCM800, Hughes and Kettner Triamp,Carvin V3,Line 6 VettaII, Spider Valve, Johnson Millennium(5 of those) 4 Cyber Twins, 1 Cyber Twin SE and much more, Fender replaced the Cyber Twin with this? Cyber Twin BLOWS this toy away. I use 3 Cyber Twins live. I like the FUSE software. The Mustang has a VERY hard time playing "Fender" clean. Cyber Twin has a killer clean. It took me 2 years of gigging and tweeking the CT but it is a GREAT amp. I just got the Mustang 2 weeks ago so I will spend time with it but I really don't think it is going to "cut the mustard" so to speak. The distortion is a Line 6 spider type. I run multi amps and bought the Mustang IV because I got it for cheap and is "supposed" to do the heavy metal type tones as the Cyber Twin goes just so far, The SE is better but ain't a Boogie. Time will tell. Mustang is a great idea for the price but Fender needs to build a better digital type amp like the Hughes and Kettner Zentera.

Comments about Fender Mustang IV 150W 2x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

This all started when I heard a tele plugged into a Mustang I and pumped thru a PA system. I WANTED THAT SOUND......no, I NEEDED THAT SOUND! :>)

Okay fine. I ordered a Mustang III. Yeah, it's just great, but there is something lacking; flat sounding to my ear.........so, I then ordered a Mustang IV. I'll use that little III for jam sessions.

Now, boys and girls, THIS MUSTANG IV IS AN AMP!

Over the years, I've owned every Fender amp to come down the pike and found them all a bit 'lacking' as compared to my Studio Tube Processor running in stereo. Didn't think anything could sound better than that setup.

Well, right off the bat I'm addicted to that silly Mustang III sound, but like I say, I need the stereo.

The IV, as a stand-alone amp, is just about as good as you would ever want. If you can't find "your sound" on this amp, you're not trying very hard. :>)

The IV is a III on steroids! Big, fat football-sized notes and very "airy". Fantastic stereo sound.

Down side tho, this thing has a nasty pre gain feedback buzz/hiss/noise when it's tied to a sound system. By pulling the gain down to zero, it is manageable, but it is still there and a tiny bit annoying.

Also, the amp simply does not need to be this large. Even tho it only weighs in at 47 lbs., it is rather "bulky" to manhandle and is way larger than it could have been packaged.

I still have to dig into the software to see if there is a way I can change the wet/dry ratio just a wee bit, but all in all, it's the best Fender amp I've ever owned!

Comments about Fender Mustang IV 150W 2x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

For a solid state amp it has a really good sound. About as close to a tube amp I have heard. All the onboard effects make it a really fun amp to play through.

My dad got me this amp for my birthday recently, and, boy, was I impressed! From the moment I plugged it in and turned it on, I knew that it was no ordinary modelling amp. The LCD screen was bright and very easy to read, and the pre-programmed channels all sound awesome. It's tempting to leave them all just the way they are! I generally play a Fender Blacktop HH Telecaster, and the Mustang IV paired with this guitar makes an absolutely killer matchup. The amp really brings out the finer nuances in the tone of my Tele, and I love it! Highly recommend this amp. If you're looking for a killer sound in a modelling amp, look no further.

            No, seriously.

            Get this amp.

Comments about Fender Mustang IV 150W 2x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

This is, bar none, the best modelling amplifier that I've ever personally used. Fender really did their homework. Currently, I'm a college student majoring in music, and I've been playing guitar for 4 years. I finally decided to upgrade from my small practice amp. I fell in love with this amp from the first time I plugged in in a music store.

First off, the amp is very attractive, with a modern Blackface look. The silver grille cloth looks good with it, and I really dig the top-mounted controls.

The amp is very well laid out and very easy to use. The LCD screen clearly shows you the current model preset, and it's easy to tweak the amp, as well as the effects.

The models are spot-on. The authentic Fender models are great. I really dig the '59 Bassman, '63 Twin, and the powerful Super-Sonic. The general models are great, too. For me, I love the Brit '80s model, because I'm a sucker for a nice JCM800. The models are clean and clear, and the British models are great, and the gain models (for example, the Brit '70s Plexi style model) react like a tube amplifier: turn down the volume on the guitar, and it actually cleans up very well. My only complaint: the really high gain models could be better, in my opinion. Aside from that, no complaints.

The effects are great, and they work well with the amp models. I love the reverbs, especially the Fender models.

I run many guitars, especially a Hamer Flying V with a DiMarzio Super Distortion in the bridge, through this amp, and the new pickup actually made this amp sound meaner, even causing breakup with the Twin Reverb model.

Overall, this amp is great. It's one of the best amps I've ever used. It's sexy, it's versatile, and most of all, this puppy is loud! It does everything I like, having owned the amp for about 4-5 months. I would have no qualms with gigging with it, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who's looking for a nice, loud, affordable amp. Excellent job, Fender!

This amp is just Great Fender Tone and Power...I play Country Telecaster and Fiddle thru mine. The Tele sounded fine but the Fiddle sounded bad. I replaced the cheap ($35) [*] Celestion copy speakers for two Enimence.SWAMP THANGS.....Holy Cow! After breaking in the Swamp Thangs and resetting my EQ a little bit, this thing stomps everything! My Tele sounds great with a nice Brent Mason tone. My Zeta Stados Fiddle sounds so good thru this thing now. The Swamp Thangs respond to this amp really well because where i used to play with the Master Vol. on 8, I now play on 4. Huge power and tone...I love mine

I was looking at a Fender Twin, but way to high priced for my playing frequency, found this on the site as a used item, its new in the box, great value.

The Fuse software could be a little more user friendly, too many authorization codes and other patience testing formalities.
Great amp ! if your looking for vintage sound and don't want to lay out the cash for a high $ tube type this is the best choice IMO for modeling amps.
It's a Fender, for what you are spending this is a good choice. The Fuse sofware installation could be a little more user friendly.
Plenty of bang for the buck
