I do not have the DSP model. I have the original Stage160 model that I bought in 2000 I think it was. The thing is a tank and has scars to show it. Never broken a knob off the panel has an active input and tones of power. Original sounding drive that has its moments there are only 2 complaints about this amp.1. It is either loud or off (anywhere in-between is toneless) 2.The output is HUGE and will kill any half stack running 150 watts or less but this thing has no method of cooling. After jamming for a good half hour it gets hot and thermal distortion can be heard as the output volume decreases. I noticed there are no vents or fans or large heat sinks. Inside are 6 TIP147 transistors capable of 125 watts each if cooled appropriately and since they only need to dissipate around 33watts each they skimped on cooling (3 dollars a transistor). I installed a grill on each end of the transistor row across the back panel and an out blowing AC fan in front of one. No problems now and it's unbelievably loud all the time with no change in sound quality.

Great Fender clean tone (bright, clear and loud). Overdrive channel just missing a little something. More drive button produces annoying hissing sound. Built-in DSP effects work well but produce a slight volume drop. Fender has come as close as I've seen at reproducing the responsiveness/feel of a tube amp with their Dynatouch series amps. Smooth responsive control knobs, a little tweaking goes a long way. 160W of great reliable solid state Fender power. This would make a great blues, country, or jazz amp.

    Quality amp at good price

    By none

    from Belchertown, MA

I have owned this amp since 2000. It still sounds the same as day one. I made it a closed back amp about 2 years ago and the drive channel sounds much better. Also the volume is deafening, but I don't plug the guitar cable all the way into the amp. Now I can turn the volume knob to about 6 and get some amazing tones.

Good solid state amp with some minor flaws

    By Navid Khodadadi

    from Ball Ground, GA

This amp has a really solid clean channel (like nearly all fender amps) and the effects can be tweaked to get some pretty solid tones (although they won't replace your pedal board or anything). The distortion on the other hand is quite weak, and lacks any real punch or clarity. And unfortunately, stomp boxes don't do much to help the matter. I've used both a Boss Blues Driver and a Digitech Metal Master on this amp (both are quality pedals) and neither one sounds particularly good on this amp. If you are a player that needs a solid, crunchy tone in your distortion, I would recommend saving up a little extra cash and going with a fender tube. The price tag on this amp right now is tough to beat, though.

    This Amp Rocks!

    By Migueldelamata

    from Pembroke Pines, FL

It really does what a Fender is supposed to do. Almost perfect clean, nice reverb, some effects. The drive channel is also great but hardly the best option to play metal.... Whatever, it does sound great for any kind of music but as a Fender is dedicated to the rock-blues family...

    buy it now

    By tacoma

    from huntington, wv

I bought this amp about four months ago, and it's the best purchase i've ever made. I play in a contemporary worship band, so of course I don't need a huge sound. this amp is incredibly smooth and has some pretty decent features. the distortion is very warm for a non-tube. I've never had the volume of either channel past 5--the loudness sickening and almost unnecessary. Buy it now!!

Fender Stage 160 DSP: Two Thumbs Up

    By Chrizzle_06

    from Wisconsin Rapids, WI

Classic example of an excellent Fender amplifier. It's worth every penny. Extremely versatile; can be used for practically every style of music. My only complaint lies with the quality of the effects provided. Otherwise, this amp lives up to its name, it is fully gig-capable and, overall, it's a wonderful amp.

I purchased this amp, and have been very satisfied. The tone is very "Twinish". I play my strat through it with the drive on about 4. This gives me a great tone that cleans up when you roll the volume knob back on your guitar. At this level, kicking the more drive button gives me all the distortion I need.

I was worried at first but I'm definitely happy

    By Micahman

    from Shreveport, Louisiana

I researched amps of every brand and type for about a year before I bought this because I'm the type of person that doesn't like to spend any more money than I have to. That is why I gave this wonderful piece of equipment a 9 for value because to me it was quite a bit of money. However I am definitely happy with all the effects, the great switchboard, and loads of power.
