If you want "verb" this is where to get it. Don't be fooled by bad reviews. This unit with a little tweaking (NOS TUBES!!) will out preform the originals. If you have a Fender amp w/o reverb don't look anywhere else. This is the perfect companion for your blackflace combo!

This reverb sounds fantastic. There is no denying it. It is the only spring reverb out there for you purists (which I am one). The problem is the quality. I have been using one for years. Our drummer owned one and was kind enough to let me use it. When he purchased his, it immediately broke. There was some part inside that had been wound too tightly when it was made (sorry, I can't remember what the part was.) But he had it fixed and it worked fine. So, I decided to get my own because I wanted a true spring reverb for my voxAC50. The first one I got would only work about 20% of the time. The second one would not work at all. I called Fender and their only explanation was it was "weird" that I would get 2 defective units. Hmm. Maybe so. Bottom line friends, it sounds terrific but it is poorly constructed (hecho en Mexico). Don't expect it to last without having to dump even more cash into it for repairs. A better way to go is the Holiest Grail by Electro Harmonix. I know, I know, it isn't a true 'spring' reverb. But it's more versatile, well built, and it sounds AWESOME.

Comments about Fender Vintage Reissue '63 Reverb Unit:

Re setup-loosen the screws on the metal clip (which holds tank steady during transport) in order to move it off of the reverb tank.

Comments about Fender Vintage Reissue '63 Reverb Unit:

This is the real deal. There is nothing comparable on the market for the 50s, 60s Dick Dale, Surf, etc., reverb sound. This is one of my favorite pieces of equipment, from the vintage Fender appearance to the great tones. I have used it at two gigs. No problems. I do recommend replacing tubes with old stock, vintage tubes. This will take away any hint of tinniness. At higher settings, you get that Surf sound; lower settings for Blues, etc. Rated down only because of rather high cost.

      blessed to those who wait

      By Riggsvilleguitarguy

Comments about Fender Vintage Reissue '63 Reverb Unit:

Having had a bad experience with the first one, straight out of the box, having NO reverb and an annoying hum frustration was setting in. This company is second to no one in customer service. The return was handled with minimum hassle. My luck was that it was out of stock and a lengthy backorder was imminent. Maybe G** didn't really want me to have one of these things after all. We'll, it finally came and a little sooner than expected. I think they kicked up the batch a notch because they got tired of me calling so often wondering when it was going to be there. I have to say that tonewise it is reminescent of the old "brown face" Vibroverbs. It also has that vintage look to boot. I am totally happy with this unit. I am ordering a cover for it today.

      No Joke

Comments about Fender Vintage Reissue '63 Reverb Unit:

I own an original and the reissue, after replacing the tubes and the mix capacitor, I benched the two together and honestly it's very hard to distinguish the difference. This will make any rig sound better. I personally use it with a 67 dual showman and a 2x15 cab, which is THE "Dick Dale" sound formula (along with a strat). If you do get a lemon (which can happen) take it back for a new one.

Comments about Fender Vintage Reissue '63 Reverb Unit:

Dick dale uses the original reverb unit this is based off of. I have absolutely no problems getting dick dale esque verb out of my reissue reverb tank. The vibro-king's reverb is based exactly on this fender reissue unit. i love my fender reverb unit, it's been the one consistant piece of gear in my setup for over 7 years.

      Fender 63 reverb re-issue

      By Kynyrd

      from Manteca, CA

Comments about Fender Vintage Reissue '63 Reverb Unit:

I have had one of these for several years now and have never had any problems with it. I found an old GE tube at the bottom of my deluxe reverb and put it in this reverb unit and it made a huge difference. However it did not sound as good as a vintage black one I had played back in the late 60's. I finally had my local amp guy hand re-wire it completely and replaced the 2-spring tank with a 3-spring and am extremely happy with it. It is worh having them re-wired in my opinion.

      The Legendary...

      By The Revrend

      from Cedar Rapids, IA

Comments about Fender Vintage Reissue '63 Reverb Unit:

I bought one of these for an amplifier I had, which sounded amazing, but simply lacked the essential feature of reverberation. The conundrum I was presented with was newere reverberation units such as digital or otherwise, versus a spring reverb tank. This unit turned out to be very pleasing after purchase and a vacuum tube replacement. It is a toss up weather you want this kind of sound, or more so to spend the money for it. It's good, Even, excells in some areas of reverberation, but it is still limited to being "spring." what finally sweyed me was seeing Dick Dale, the man who invented the guitar surf style, use one of these as a primary source of fine reverberation in his rig not four months ago for the third time and I also discovered the trick to keeping it from breaking... Hang it from a rope, no vibrations, just reverb! All in all, it does what you want, simple, but beautiful. If you want conveniance get something else, but if your prepared to put in a little more effort, go ahead and play around with one of these units for a bit, you won't be dissapointed.

      FENDER 63 REISSUE REVERB UNIT

      By jay-orv6y

      from Riverside, Ca

Comments about Fender Vintage Reissue '63 Reverb Unit:

The FENDER 63 REISSUE REVERB UNIT is not really the best reverb for surf music like Dick Dales style of music. You can crank the whole unit up and not get a dick dale sound out of it. Now if your amp has reverb on it, and you crank that up with the unit all the way up. You might get a ok sound. Now if you want the best Dick Dale, surf, reverb sound, get a FENDER VIBRO KING. BEST REVERB SOUND THAT YOU WELL EVER FIND. TRUST ME price is high but its worth it. But if you want a small reverb sound, i would get this item.

Comments about Fender Vintage Reissue '63 Reverb Unit:

If you are looking for the surf vibe, you need an outboard tank like this. It sounds great out of the box or will sound even better with a NOS tube swap. I never had any problems with mine, no malfunctions.
