I purchased this Fishman Loudbox Artist for use with my fiddles as a mic preamp, phantom power source, basic FX unit, stage monitor, and direct out to our mixing console.

It is working very well for these purposes. I have the amp on a stand facing towards me, with it pointed just slightly off axis to suppress feedback from my boom-mounted condenser mic which I use to mic my fiddle.

Things that I really like about this amp:

    - It has phantom power (24 volt), which can be switched on and off. It works perfectly well with my AKG C535 condenser mic (the current standard for many condenser mics is for phantom power between 9 and 52 volts). The phantom power is not channel specific on this amp. When turned on, it is active on both main input channels (but not the aux stereo input, which is a very good feature).

    - It has two identical main input channels, with combo inputs. They will accept balanced mic level XLR connections, or unbalanced line level 1/4" connections, perfect for either instruments or microphones. They have identical controls, which allows either channel to be used with all of the features of the amp, available on either channel.

    - It has a third stereo aux input on the back, accomadating either 1/8" or 1/4" stereo plugs, perfect for playing MP3 music through. Even better, when the main channels are muted, this rear input is still active, which allows you to play recorded music, while your mics or instruments are muted. The only very minor down side to this is that there is no tone shaping on this aux input.

    - It has 120 watts of power split into 100 watts for the main driver, and 20 watts for the tweeter. I have found that the best setting for the tweeter is with the attenuator set to the halfway point. It's too bright for me with the attenuator set to full open. Since the attenuator is actually controlling the output of the 20 watt side of the amplifier, it's not just strictly "attenuating" a high pass filter (like most attenuators), but is a volume control for a separate amplifier circuit.

    - Another great feature is the presence of three direct outputs on the back. I use the mixed direct out (which sums both main channels and the aux input signals, and sends them out post-tone and FX controls). This sends to the board exactly what I am hearing through the amp. There are also individual pre-outs for both main channels. All the outputs are balanced XLR.

Both design and execution of this product are top notch, considering the size and price I'm very pleased with it.

I'd say it's a quiet ,SMALL, amp that has all the features and gadgets a guy could want. This is definitely a practice amp, because if there is more than five people having a conversation nearby, you probably won't hear yourself playing over them. It's a really clean, nice looking crackerbox . So if you're rich and need an amp to practice on in your room that you can plug a mic into and run into a recording program on your computer than this is perfect for you.
This is definitely set up for someone to record.
It's built well, but the sound is pretty gutless . They spent so much time making sure you could plug anything and everything into it , that they forgot the most important thing ' SOUND'.
I thought it was way over priced. The only reason I can see why they would charge you 500 bucks for this is for the name , and maybe all the effects and such...

    Not just for guitars

Comments about Fishman Loudbox Artist PRO-LBX-600 Acoustic Combo Amp:

I bought the Artist amp primarily to amplify a digital piano keyboard and to have a backup acoustic amp for acoustic/electic guitars and microphones. The Artist works very well for all those purposes. The digital piano sounds almost like an acoustic piano, and when using the reverb the sound is much like playing in a large room or hall. With a guitar the amp does just what it is designed to do, and does it very well.

Comments about Fishman Loudbox Artist PRO-LBX-600 Acoustic Combo Amp:

I have been looking for an Amp that had balanced powered XLR input. I looked at all the big names nothing. Was browsing the website and ran across Fishman. Heard of them but not a big name; took a look at their amps. 2 channels BOTH with a combo Unbalanced and Balanced (XLR) inputs that you can turn on the 24volt power if you need phantom power. Just what I was looking for in an amp. I have an AMT accordion condenser pickup that needs powered XLR input. The controls are great. All kinds of options. The sound is acceptable with just an 8in speaker. That can be swapped out for a high grade speaker easy enough. It really handles feedback great. Only 25lbs and 13.5 inches high but don't let that fool you this is a very high quality amp.

This amp is a good value. EQ is very useful. Increased volume add a bit of low end but easily corrected. Great reverb. Works great for guitar and vocal for solo act. Aux in actually adds a third channel. Interfaces well with PA or powered speaker Half the price and twice the power of an AER Compact 60.

Comments about Fishman Loudbox Artist PRO-LBX-600 Acoustic Combo Amp:

I play solo using acoustic and some electric guitar. I use this amp as the perfect practice amp. I use it for gigs. It worked for Coffee Shops and a 200-seat Library auditorium. You can get any sound out of it you want--from warm acoustic sounds to electric sound requiring a little crunch. I'm a vocalist so the rich vocal sounds I get from it are also very important. It exceeds my needs and expectations. If it had compression, I wouldn't even have to use any footpedals (it's a personal thing--I like some compression on my guitar sounds). However many stars the top rating is, I would give this amp one more. I don't feel this way about any other equipment I own.

Comments about Fishman Loudbox Artist PRO-LBX-600 Acoustic Combo Amp:

This is my third acoustic instrument amplifier and unless I upgrade to the Loudbox Pro or it gets broken/lost/stolen in transportation or use, will be my last. IT IS THAT GOOD!

For reference a have an early Crate CA-125 (good reproduction - too heavy to load-in and load out), a Trace Acoustic T50 (good on stage, light on power, a step up from the Crate - newer technology, more transparent reproduction) and now the Loudbox, which is another step up in transparent sound reproduction/amplification with options expanded to tie into house sound systems allowing the performer/musician to tailor "his" sound and sent it as desired to the house engineer and light weight to carry. As a house engineer (sound man) past & present, I appreciate this as it simplifies my job at the board and it assures my "sound" on the stage (if the sound engineer alters the provided, its on him, not me).

I do small solo gigs, P&W at my Church, and other events as opportunity presents with 6 & 12 string acoustic electric instruments - this amp adds the output that the Trace 50 watt'er does not have (although I will still use the Trace as alternate). The light physical weight is a big plus to a disabled person such as I to transport.

Comments about Fishman Loudbox Artist PRO-LBX-600 Acoustic Combo Amp:

this is a great little acoustic amp ---the stock speaker leaves a little to be desired -will distort flappie sound when using a full bottom-ended sound ---I replaced the stock 8" speaker with a 8" 4ohm (same as stock different brand) "Fatal Pro" 120"watt speaker (cost extra fifty green ones to do this myself) and now the sound is amazing I use both a sure 58 mic and a Taylor 414 , also use a porch board foot bass (a kick drum type thing) in the aux channel --larger gigs I use the line out to a couple of QSC powered speakers -everywhere I play people comment on how good the sound is ( musicians and patrons)
I gig for a living have been doing this for over 45 years and still play 180 - 200 dates per year
from collage gigs to country club gigs restaurant/bar gigs to straight listing room gigs
and play very aggressive and this amp will handle it

Great little amp. Use as a stage monitor for my Taylor in the church band. Loud enough for me to hear while standing in front of the bassists 4x12 cab. Does not clip or distort, just clean, clear headroom with plenty of power on standby (master volume set at only about 9o'clock!) The onboard effects add a nice bit of depth and shimmer. Would recommend or buy again.

The sound is pretty darn close to what my uke and 12 string sound without amplification. The ability to add onboard reverb, delay and chorus makes this a winner. The unit is compact and fairly light yet packs a big punch in sound. I was looking at the mini model but decided to upgrade to this model with the added features. Glad I did.
