Comments about Fryette Sig:X G100SX 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:
Versatile amp covering all genres, quality tones rivaling any amp, great build quality, ability to use at all volumes, with pedals or rack gear in the effects loop. What's not to love?
Add me to the list of happy owners. This amp replaced my Shiva. It's not as warm and juicy as the Shiva, but is much more versatile. The clean channel rivals the Shiva's, but then does a lot more with musical breakup, like a non-master volume Marshall or Hiwat.
The rhythm channel covers clean to modded Marshall metal, with a many in-between settings.
The lead channel is much like the rhythm channel with a more modern voice, and can do clean to modern metal.
All channels are very dynamic and sensitive to guitar volume and picking changes.
The effects loop is either series or parallel, and works great with pedals or rack equipment.
With the Shiva, I was stuck with a vintage voice. A sweet one, but limiting. The Sig:X can do that, and a whole lot more.
I have faith this amp will be just fine. Fryette makes a quality amp.
A little much new, for any amp, IMO, but the used prices on these are ridiculous.
Comments about Fryette Sig:X G100SX 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:
I love my JCM2000 TSL100 head, but I wanted an amp that could also do some American tones like a Dual Rectifier. The Sig:X does both. It is like my TSL100 on steroids. The Gain1 = voicing, Gain2 = Saturation idea is brilliant. And with each gain channel having 3 different voicings, variable power, and a more/less gain switch, any sonic territory can be covered. The 40 watt settings on the gain channels uses the tube rectifier instead of the silicon diode. No noticeable volume difference between that and the 100 watt mode. But the 100 watt mode has a slightly more crisp attack and feel.Amp is equally well at home doing modern rock, metal, 80's hair, or classic rock. Can sound like a Marshall or a Mesa. I have the crunch channel set to sound like a modded super lead, and then with the boost it goes 80's hair on me. Perfect. I set the lead channel to do modern stuff like a dual rec. Awesome. Clean channel sounds great on it's own or with an OD pedal, which it takes superbly. Adding an OD pedal in front of either gain channel with the boost is just over the top. Amazing. My TSL will always be with me, but so will this amp now. Quality item, made in the USA.

i've used dual/tripel recs, diezeil vh4's/herberts, bogner uberschalls, 6505/5150 etc... this thing is the awesomest of all, the gain can get intense yet tight and clear, unlike others in which gain=mud. the konbs on this thing are really sensitive infinite tones can be achieved! saving up for one :)

I ordered a Fryette Sig:X a little over a month ago without having played the amp, basing my decision on the great things I had heard from various reviewers from the top guitar magazines around. It is true that this amp will take getting used to; it not only takes time to dial in a tone you like, but you also have to develop a feel for it and the sound it produces. It also records brilliantly!! (I use a Sennheiser e609S). The Sig:X is an absolutely fantastic amp head and comes highly recommended by myself to all who are interested. You will not be dissatisfied! It handles everything from the most sparkly clean to br00tal black metulz from the forests of Norway. Order this amp!
Comments about Fryette Sig:X G100SX 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:
I have this and the Pittbull Ultralead. Mine are VHT, but they are the same as the new ones, only the brand name has changed. I think the Sig:X is easier to use, has better footswitching, and it's cheaper to replace 2 tubes instead of 4. It has more tonal options by far. I think the Clean is way better. The distortions are more Marshallyish, but still ULish, there?s still super high gain which is common with all Fryette heads. The rhythm channel in particular can be dialed in to be just as brutal as the lead channel with just slighly different voicings, on the UL you can't really get the rhythm channel as mean or gainy as the lead channel. It's a sick head, it's what I gig with.
Comments about Fryette Sig:X G100SX 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:
I have one of the VHT branded Sig:X amps and I've had it for about ten months now. You can read about all of the features in the product description, so I'll forgo the details there. This amp sounds really good. The clean channel is vibrant and crisp. The bloom / bright / spank switch really helps get the correct high end response for humbuckers or single coils. I have a strat and a Les Paul and all I have to do when I change guitars when I switch guitars is flip that switch. The overdrive channels have a VERY wide range of gain textures to choose from. You can easily get clean-ish tones on either gain channel all the way to modern metal grind. All of the mini toggle switches provide useful tone shaping options. I like to set up the orange channel for a Marshall style crunch tone and I set the red channel for a liquid gain tone. I love the fact that the amp remembers the gain boost and effects settings for each channel. It makes it so I can set the red lead channel up with a delay and keep the other two channels dry.The 40W / 100W switches make a big difference in the way the amp responds. I prefer the way the amp responds with all of the channels set to 40W at the volumes I play at because it has more of a singing quality with a nice mid-range emphasis. The 100W setting is has a tighter response witch is great for high gain rhythm playing.I have had a few problems with the amp. When switching from the clean to the orange channel, the amp pops. I'm not certain if I just need to change out a preamp tube or if I need to send it in to Fryette for service (the customer service with these guys is really good). Also, it would be cool if the amp had a global master control and or a global solo volume. This way, you could set the relative levels of the three channels and then adjust the overall volume with one knob.
