Fulltone

Bluesy soft-clip and nasty hard-clip tube-style distortion, all in one effect pedal for a great price.

For many, many years you've basically had 2 choices for your overdrive and distortion pedals. You could either get "Soft-clipped" Bluesy, slightly compressed-type overdrive pedals, or you could get "Hard-Clipped" type distortion pedals.

Now, the Fulltone PlimSoul guitar effects pedal offers both distortion and overdrive for a great price.

The Fulltone PlimSoul guitar pedal has those softer, bluesey, compressed capabilities but also has a second stage that you can roll in with the turn of a little dial to add that firmer, crunchier, British output tube-style Distortion. What's more is you not only hear and feel it—you can see the Fulltone pedal reacting to your every mood via a fiery LED that glows brighter and dimmer depending on how distorted it is and how hard you're hitting it.

It's touch sensitive, cleans up with the guitar's volume control, sounds superb with either humbuckers or single coils. And with a 500kOhm input impedance and ideal super low 10K output impedance, the Fulltone PlimSoul plays nice with other effects pedals. It goes from very clean to very dirty, giving your tone a vast range of tonal control to customize to your liking.

The Fulltone overdrive/distortion pedal can blend both soft clip/hard clip distortion types, or isolate one or the other. The sound possibilities are truly endless.

This Fulltone guitar pedal offers extremely good sustain/feedback qualities, just the right amount of mids and bottom, great touch sensitivity, dynamics, and all those in-between shades available created using your guitar's volume control.

Features

  • Level control
  • Sustain control
  • Hi-cut control
  • Stage 23 dial

All this amazing control for a price that's too good to pass up. Order now!

Tone Comparison PlimSoul vs OCD.

| Review By: Ron56V | 8 months, 2 weeks ago

Features:

I liked having the second stage distortion knob. It realy only sounded good with at touch of distortion. Setting it high was edgy at slightly to high of a frequency for what I might want.

I liked the fact it has True Bypass and 1 Meg input.

Quality:

It has a thin aluminum facplate that was not on very square and was a little out of flat so it made it look cheep. But the purple box was nice too bad it is a little wider than the OCD.

Value:

A little pricy but if I would have liked it enough to keep it the price would have been ok.

Overall:

The bottum is too full or low, similar to the problem with the OCD in the LP mode.

There isn't any midrange boost to make the notes stand out for lead (kinda flat). It might be ok for a subdued rythum I guess.

They did try to fix the high end problem that the OCD has but they way over did it, it's too smooth kinda fizzy and dull even with the tone cranked up.

After a few days of giving it a chance to see what style of my music it would work for, I couldn't find one so I returned it.

I experimented and modified my OCD by testing caps and 100 ohm resistor in series on the tone pot to roll off the highs. I liked what It did so much that I bought a second OCD. I run both on 9V in the HP mode. I run one at a medium drive with a 47p and 100ohm. The other OCD is for clean boost at zerro drive with 22p and 100ohm. Otherwise I would have got rid of the OCD as well. Keep On Rockin In The Free World!!!

I have had this pedal for a few months now. Very nice! It plays well with other pedals. There is more "AMP" distortion than you will need with this pedal. It really does react like an amp. I will say it took me some time to dial in my tone, but that in large part due to it's flexibility. You can get mild OD to wicked distortion. Lots of Harmonics. I run a LP stock into a Plexi set clean-ish. It is not a transparent pedal. It does have a mid hump, but that's what i was looking for. The 808's sound boxy to me, this sounds big and bad to my ears with appropriate low end. For music styles, i play mostly covers, 80-current and this thing won't leave my board for a while.

Not for Marshall Bluesbreaker

Don't go strictly by my review unless you're using a Marshall Bluesbreaker. This pedal may sound very good on your Amp. I've read great reviews, and the sound Demos by some guys on Youtube were excellent. I could not get one single good sound using this on my Bluesbreaker. The Marshall Guvnor far surpasses this pedal tonewise. The Plimsoul on my Marshall sounded like a muddy mess.

Features - Functional controls with bonus controls inside! Quality - Built like a tank. Value - Kinda Expensive But worth it. You get what you pay for and this pedal is worth it. I've had about every kind of overdrive you can own. When my bandmate bought this pedal and asked me to try it out I said sure ... another overdrive. After spending 5 minutes with this pedal I was sure this was something new. Toof off my TS-808 reissue and then waited for my PlimSoul to arrive. What a Pedal!!!!! If you can afford it, Buy it. You won't be disappointed no matter what type of music you play.
