OVERVIEW

GK's RB Series bass amplifiers have been setting the standard for over two decades and the 280W 400RB-IV continues that tradition. Inside this compact, lightweight ‘superstructure' is the most advanced bass circuitry available. In 1972, Bob Gallien developed what he calls G.I.V.E. Technology (Gate Induced Valve Effect). This ‘valve effect' is integrated into the design of all RB Series heads and is part of what gives them their distinct sound. The 400RB-IV Series bass head delivers a warm, punchy tone with a fast transient response that not only sounds better, it feels better. GK's renowned voicing filters and intuitive four band active EQ make it simple to dial in a great sound. Every day thousands of players around the world in arenas, clubs and basements plug into GK heads because they love that sound.

A powerful 280W solid state with the warm feel and sound of a tube head.

    Comments about Gallien-Krueger 400RB-IV 280W Bass Head:

I haven't actually owned the 400RB-IV head persay, but I do own it's predecessor the 400RB-III from what I can tell the two heads are Identical with the exception that the RB-IV is 280 watts instead of the 240 watts that my RB-III gets. MY RB-III is actually part of a combo stack (discontinued) I got back in 2002 , but if it is any indication. the 400RB-IV will not disappoint. I've had my set up for 13 years now and so far it has held up well over the years (some abusive times too). It's way louder than you think the volume levels on this amp feel closer to a 500 watt head than a 240-280 watt head. it has great EQ control that let's you dial in just about any sound you could possibly want. It even can get a good warm "tube" tone despite being a solid state amp. This is all the head most bassist will ever need.

      Comments about Gallien-Krueger 400RB-IV 280W Bass Head:

I have owned this amp for months now and I cannot be happier. I run it through a Tech 21 4/10 cab and play my Ibanez SR 885 bass through it. The tone really is something else. You can go from punchy Mike Gordon like tone to a warm round Phil Lesh esq tone. This handles bass bombs perfectly too. I love the 4/5 string switch as I have both!
