I play through a GK BL600, a 210BLX, and a 115BLX. All of these pieces are great sounding and made very well - no issues. So, when I decided to upgrade the 2x10 to a 4x10, it was a given that I would buy the 410BLX. I had heard a number of people complaining about the speakers blowing. I figured that these were just people misusing their equipment. Guess not!! I had this cab for just a few months and one of the speakers blew. And no, I wasn't driving the cab hard. It had never been subjected to anymore than a quarter of my amp's power. Never abused in any way. I returned it to the store where it was purchased to be sent out for repair. It took 6 1/2 weeks to get repaired and when it was returned to me it was filthy and beat up. I was also charged a "handling fee" for the warranty repair. Pro's: it sounds great, it's built like a tank, and it's cheap. Con's: it's VERY heavy and the speakers are questionable at best. Now that it's repaired I'll keep it, but anymore issues and you'll find it in the trash! Buy at your own risk....you've been warned!

I need to break this down. The sound you will get from this cab is poor. I use the GK Backline 250 head with it and I am not impressed. I do need to say this. The problem is not the cab. It is the speakers. The speakers they put in this cab are simply awful. The cab however, is extremely well built and insulated. The low end possibilites on this cab are spectacular, it's put to the shame though with the crappy speakers they put in it. Moral of the story: if you're willing to pay to replace the speakers (which is a REALLY easy job) then yes, get this cab. But again, if you're willing to shell out the money for four ten inch speakers, it is probably just more economical to but a better cab. Save up for an Ampeg and everyone will be happy.

Best sound ever, with a different head

I have played alot of bang for your buck equipment, but there is a really special combination you can get with this cab.

I dare you, to run a 200w Acoustic head through this 410 cab.

You will never hear a greater bass tone for your money, and I really feel it gets really close to an ampeg tube amp.

This cab is quite heavy though, and it can be hard to transfer. If you can move it around from gig to gig or from practice to home then you will never have to worry about "not being loud enough".

And seriously, go to your local store and put an Acoustic 200w head on this. I have never had a blown speaker (acoustic cabs with acoustic heads.....dont sound so great btw).

I really hope this helps, happy playing!

    Rebutting Reviewers

I've had this cab for several years. Yes it is heavy, no it doesn't have Speakon connection, No it doesn't have a tweeter/horn (Yes GK does have cabs with horns.. Go with the RBH series if that's your taste.. those are amazing) I have a 210 RBH that I set on top of this when I need lots more rumble. Through a 700 RB II It has the 4 wire Speakon to Bi-Amp. There's no better bang for the buck.

    Tasty Tone

    By Anonymous

I own this cabinet along with the Gk BLX 115, paired together you get a remarkable tone, its nice and warm, has amazing highs and low lows hwen you need them, I have had this for a few years now and have never had any problems with it, I have played countless numbers of shows from Congress Theater(chicago) size venues to small partys and basements. This is an amazing cab buy it. The only things that I think are cons is its weight, thats the only problem I have ever had. But other than that its kickn'.

Great cabinet for small to medium gigs!

I purchased the GK BLX 4x10 several months ago, and I have been very pleased since. I chose to take a chance on this cabinet, and I can honestly say that I have not had any problems with it whatsoever! I power the cab with the Backline 600 head, so the unit is not overpowered. The quality and flexibility of GK suits my style perfectly! The quality for the price cannot be beat.

Every amp must have a tweeter or a horn

    By Anonymous

    from Undisclosed

This amp is great but one thing, this amp has no tweeter. If you want to complete the treble and the high buy a amp with a tweeter or a horn, because without a horn or tweeter, then this amp will not provide good or more tone for you save up and buy amps that have tweeters and horns.....GK DOES NOT HAVE ANY!

    Good if used properly

    By comptone

This is a good amp if you got the right equipment to go with it. I have the 300 watt head going through this and I get a clean sound that I can vary with lots of mids and lows. My friend tried to talk me out of it, he claimed that the speakers blew out right away...what he lacked to tell me was that he had a 600 watt head pushing power through a 400 watt 4x10. Make sure you don't make that same mistake, your cab should have more power than your head, you do that, then buy this cab and you'll be all set to be a loud bassist

    CRAZY AWESOME!!!!

    By Bassplayer_1117

I have had mine for about six months and it is amazing I get all of the highs and lows with this cabinet If you blow a speaker in this cabinet then maybe you ran way to much power through it I run a Gallien-Krueger head and some tubes through it I have taken it on countless numbers of show and to this day it sounds GREAT

    I like it!

I use a Backline 600 with it and it's the cleanest sound I have ever played with. Our band has a battle of the bands coming up soon and now I don't have to worry about if I'll sound good or not. I might even have the best rig there.

    GK bass cabinet

    By Sean-CWNfr

    from Lebanon, OR

The people who have had problems with their cab must have had bad luck because I have not had any problems at all with my amp yet. It carries plenty of high and low end punch. Agreed it is a bit boxy I give this amp a 10.
