Let me first say I have never been a fan of combo amps, usually quality is not the same as the quality found in separate heads and cabinets. Unfortunately, I am getting older and don't have the energy I used to to haul my separate cabinets and head to shows. I started shopping and came across this wonderful combo. It's a real, profession G-K head paired with a GK 2X10 with horn cabinet. This is all tied in one neat package. I have used it at clubs of all different sizes and it's just perfect. For the larger shows, it has a great direct out. The other great feature is the fact this cabinet has wheels. So now instead of hauling cabinets and head, I just roll this great sounding combo on stage. I highly recommend this product.

We use this in our church which is about 60 X 100 with a 20 ft ceiling. Three bass players in three services, two using 5-stg and one using a 6-stg. It's fine for hearing yourself over the other instruments, but needs to be run through the house sound. If the gain is run past 3, the sound mixer says it really gives him a lot of distortion. It's never moved so wheel issue doesn't apply. It is good for how we use it: it is never moved. We sit it beneath the grand piano tilted back. When tilted back, you can't reach any controls if you are seated in front of it. Foot controls would help with that if they were available.

my long wait is over

By chasfur

from elkhart in

im very pleased with my new purchase. i found this amp at my local woodwind brasswind store(sister company to mf). I'm very pleased, some of the comments here are kinda harsh i think. although i can see some craftsmanship flaws, sloppy screw placement and things. mostly im thrilled.sound is all gk, now im just excited to plug in a 210cab or 15.for if anything speakers are taking alot of juice gk is known for theyre honest power ratings.wheels are cheap as i knew from these reviews. cant wait to do a gig. which is why i purchased such a powerful amp

upper bi amp is a joke

By benpalmer3000

from Durham, NC

The top section of this amp does nothing, even after factory servicing of a brand new amp. The "50w" sounds like 2 watts into a 2" speaker, overdriven. Again, that's what they intended. The bottom part sounds pretty good by itself but the amp as a whole did not make the cut. Handle too short and wheels are for indoor use only. too heavy! The "real combo" idea must have been a concept that went from the drawing board to the product description without any engineering in between. This is sad and disappointing because their 1x12 combo might be the greatest small bass amp in history.

Nothing it can't handle

By BigScheff

from Dallas, TX

Been playing for Elvis tribute artists all over the country and this thing just ROCKS night after night.I use it by itself for the smaller shows, or pair it up with a GK cab with 15" and horn for the big gigs.Never ever runs out of power. Just rock solid gig after gig. Good growl for the solo on Polk Salad Annie, sounds great with a fretless bass on Way Down. This thing has never missed a day. Only complaint, the wheels crapped out after 6 months.

WOW!!

By BassfromRevival

from Staten Island NY

I just played a gig with my new combo and, wow!! This amp kicks. In this particular project I play Judas Priest, Accent, Metallica, Yngwie as well as The Killers, Sublime and Maroon 5. The amp cut through and blended so nicely with the broad range of material. The room size was medium and I have the volume on 4, it kicked!! Paired with my Fenders the sound was extroadinary. I would most definetly reccommend to all.

Forget the Wheels

By lowerregister

from Boston

This amp sounds awesome. The range is incredible and so are the wide range of tones available. My only complaints are that the telescoping handle isn't long enough to make the wheels useful and that the wheels cracked and broke after 4 months. Besides that it is an amazing amp that I would recommend to anyone needing a transportable gigging amp.

Good Combo

I have owned it for 5 years now. Still kicking with minimum hiss. Great versatility with the controls. I am starting to lose connection at 1/4" jack and will need to take it in. Been doing alot of gigging and it is road worthy. I have a GK 1x18" cab that I stack the combo onto using bi-amp feature. The clarity of the 2X10's with the bottom from the 18 is pretty amazing. Does well in medium size venues. Taps out, though, in real large outdoor.

Sick!

By bombsquatch

from Indy

Trying to play over a loud drummer? Mad because your guitarist's tube stack constantly drowns you out? This combo solves the problem! The ported cabinet provides enough rumble to keep the neighbors up, and the pull-out handle makes it that much more portable. The only set-back is the lack of a headphone jack. I used to think that combos weighing more than fifty pounds were pointless wastes of money, but after playing through this, I proved myself wrong!

One Of The Best I've Owned !!!!

By bj186

from Houston, TX

I've been playing bass since 1978, and must say this is truly one of the best amps I've ever owned. It is truly a very rugged piece of equipment. I move it around alot and the only part that has broken on it so far has been the wheels, which I easily replaced through GK. It doesn't hurt having the 5 string bass button which voices the amp for 5 string basses. Hasn't failed me yet, 4 years running!
