    Doble bass, bass guitar GO!

    By cveti

Comments about Gallien-Krueger MB150E-112III 150W MicroBass Combo Amp:

I bought it to amp my double bass with the Realist player I put on it. And I use fretless bass guitar on it as well. Just last night I had a rehearsal, I there was GK700 2x10 combo, and it was so so harsh and agressive, I switched to this little monster. I had it on half power (with drums, synth, guitar and vocals) and it worked great. It is really very soft and warm with the attack and crisp you need. It certainly has the smooth "growl" for fretleess I want. The controlls give you all the possibilities you want. Wide spectrum. It is also light, put it in a bag and throw it over your shoulder and GO! Would buy another, if this one goes byby, especially the one with cool chorus fx on it.

    Great

    By Pete D

Comments about Gallien-Krueger MB150E-112III 150W MicroBass Combo Amp:

Upright bass is my thing. The MB150 balances very well in jazz and folk situations. The most portable hi-fidelity combo amp on market without spending thousands. Would likely need an extension cab for rock volumes, but this little combo will do the job if sound reinforcement is available. I play for the joy of music, but you have to pay me to move my equipment, and this combo makes my work easy...if you know what I mean. BTW- sounds good with my electric Fbass BN5 too...

    My What a Babe !

Comments about Gallien-Krueger MB150E-112III 150W MicroBass Combo Amp:

Had my GK MB150E for 7 years plugged into a Peavey Eurosys 12" cab with wiifer replaced by Eminence 12" and it's tone cuts through live mixes even when lead guitarists turn their fender twins .Now something like this with say 320 watts Rms and 2 x 10 NEODYMIUM speakers for 500 UK Pounds and I'd be in Bass heaven...I also use my MB150 on it's own for keyboards and rhythm guitar. I wonder what this would be like with a 1 X 12" Micro Speaker cab?

    amazing sound-to-weight ratio

    By Jay-V7HGY

Comments about Gallien-Krueger MB150E-112III 150W MicroBass Combo Amp:

This amp has replaced by mamouth bass stack - it's the loudest amp for it's size and weight, period. Imagine going to a gig or rehearsal with your bass on your back and your 26 pound amp in one hand...you still have a hand free to open doors or carry other gear. No rolling your cabs over uneven pavement or lugging your heavy gear up stairs. This amp sounds great, excellent articulation, voicing and plenty of volume to keep up with your heavy handed drummer. For larger venues, just run direct into the house PA and use the amp to hear yourself on stage. The low frequencies really start to roll off below E on my 5-string, but if you run through the PA with subs, it's not an issue. I'm giving it 5 stars all around, but I do have one idea for improvement: the foot switchable "boost" needs it's own level adjustment, as there is a huge jump in volume if the boost knob is turned up. It's not that big of a deal, but you won't be able to use the boost like a separate "crunch" channel. Well worth the heafty price tag. This amp will get taken out time after time while your stack gets dusty in the garage.

    Solid Solid State

    By David Salonen

Comments about Gallien-Krueger MB150E-112III 150W MicroBass Combo Amp:

Well, this amp has served me well in the year I've owned it so far. I have a GK 1001RB-II as well, and this guy is my practice and small gig amp. I have the extension cab, and with those I am comfortably heard in a 80 piece high school pep band. Loudest 150 watts I've ever heard. Really solid amp, and seems to take abuse pretty well :).

    Most Versatile Amp I've Owned

    By Anonymous

    from Undisclosed

Comments about Gallien-Krueger MB150E-112III 150W MicroBass Combo Amp:

I've owned this amp for almost 15 years, so I guess that qualifies me to submit a review. It is currently in the shop, and will cost me $60-70 for this repair. That's the second trip to the shop in 15 years. I wish I could say that about my car, my kids, my knees, my house... I would be bummed if it just sat around in my house and had to be repaired, but this thing has been thrown in my trunk more times than I can count. (With guilty conscience I can also say that it sometimes stays in the trunk after I get home.)It sounds great, records great, and _never_ causes "big rig" panic at a gig. I've played weddings, standard gigs, churches, even funerals without anyone giving me the "you can't seriously want to bring that whole thing in here" stare.I use it standalone for low volume gigs (with a feed to the house) and with a 1x15 cab for louder things. It's not a redhead, but its not 100lbs either. I need to paint it because it looks like it's been through the war, but then some folks even like their guitars to look like that.Bottom line: worth the money, hands down.

    This versatile amp is tops!

    By Kontrabass

Comments about Gallien-Krueger MB150E-112III 150W MicroBass Combo Amp:

I'm an upright and electric player who has been using the GK 150E for many years. From jazz combo, multi media productions, theater and pit work, to high profile events this amp has performed extremely well. In my estimation this amp offers very transparent amplification which allows the sonic quality of whatever bass I choose to put through it to shine - electric, electric acoustic, upright, or EUB. Many front-of-house technicians have commented on the available routing features and the sound of this amp. And best of all, because of the portability of the GK 150E I can usually walk into a show in one trip and be ready to go in minutes.

    The other side

    By Iz Wiser

    from USA

Comments about Gallien-Krueger MB150E-112III 150W MicroBass Combo Amp:

I'm a drummer/(big slash)bass player and so impressed with this amp I had to write a review. Pro drummer over 30 years. As a freelance drummer I get to hear a lot of different bass rigs and the GK Micro is a stand-out in the sound dept. 4X10 eden's w/1300 watt heads, SWR this, Ampeg that, guys show up at club gigs with these hi-powered, expensive cab'd rigs and the 'GK Micro' makes them sound like dirt. Granted, the bigger rigs will be louder, but I have yet to hear one sound as good/fine as this little gem, it's truly a Hi-Fidelity unit. Pricey for what you see, one can spend more and not even come close to the sound this thing produces. The bass player I know who has one says it fits comfortably-with- room in the middle of the front seat of his truck! If your frustrated with increasing your power and still not getting the sound you want to hear (and wipeing out the rest of the band) and before buying a refrigerator size rig to do club gigs, try the Micro Bass (w/extention cab), its fidelity is music to the ears. Watch out though... It will may make more practical sense than your ego is willing to admit.

    Wow, Killer Bass Amp

Comments about Gallien-Krueger MB150E-112III 150W MicroBass Combo Amp:

After playing guit for 30 years I switched to Bass. I wanted to get a big tube setup, but thought this would be practical and at least good enough for practices. I tried a bunch of amps before ordering this. I got it with the added 12 ext cab, and wow, it's huge sounding. I'm very picky with my gear, and this exceeded my expectations. I'm old school, tube/analog man at any price. I played a 300 seat club, and the sound man ask me to back off the low end... this thing kicks! It's pricey, but at least in this case you get what you pay for. I'd still love to have the 80lb tube head, but I might wait until I can afford a roadie;)

You get what you pay for.

Comments about Gallien-Krueger MB150E-112III 150W MicroBass Combo Amp:

After well over 30 years of gigging I own Sunn, Fender, Traynor and Carvin bass amps. However, not one of them compare to my new MB150E. Back-sore and unwilling to heft the big rigs, I have decided that smaller is indeed better. This amp is clean, versatile, and has a wonderful sound with an extension 18 for my five string bass. If I do not want to use the cab, it tends to do better with my Fender Jazz. Though I am not heavy into effects, the chorus on this amp is to die for. The standard foot switch works well. GK recommends using the direct out for high volume situations, and I have found that the stereo direct out to be very clear. But for smaller gigs with an extension speaker, this one is well worth the slightly salty price. In this case you get what you pay for!!!
