I bought this cab from a friend quite a few years ago. This cab sounds like you are playing along with a bass player, but it only seemed to work for Heavy Distortion. This cabinet seems to accent pretty much any distortion, Great Growling lows, and piercing solos. But it just seems to make loud bass pops with clean channels.
this cab has it all... a GREAT tone, awesome for full bodied chords, but with still enough punch to palm mute. I'm not a big fan of ported cabs because usually your tone gets lost in all the low end, but this amp pulls everything off. I play a peavey Triple X through it and it sounds perfect for metal. This cab is also great for clean chords.
I've played this powered by Marshall, Crate, Johnson and Mesa/Boogie. To say the least, this cabinet has some punch to it. Great bottom-end with great high-end as well. My impression is that this cabinet could replace any 4x12 cabinet on the market. The only problem I see is the price. Is it this expensive just because it has George Lynch's name on it?
When I uplugged my Fender 2X12 loaded with Celestion Vintage 30's and plugged this cabinet in, I was astonished at how much better this cabinet sounds. I was going to buy a 4X12 Marshall cab to go with my 1996 50-watt Plexi reissue, but now I just want another G-Flex.
This delivers on all claims. Outstanding. Side-by-side, beats most 4X12 cabs. Great for all styles.
I picked up the Genz Benz 2 by 12 ported cab a few months ago from Musicians Friend while I was away from home, and longed to return home to play with it. I tried out Vht, Bogner, and Vader cabinets and this one came through the clearest no matter how the amp's tone was set. I hooked it up with monster cables to a Peavy JSX and a Mesa Dual Recitifier and it allowed each amp to breath and produce clear low end at any volume level. Having the ability to use diffrent impediances and run in stereo made a huge difference because now i can play in stereo and only move one awsome cabinet.
Ive owned this cab for just over one year. I use a Mesa Boogie 20/20 power amp coupled with a Rocktron Voodu Valve Pre amp, Ibanez RG 3120 Guitar. I play progressive rock, (Dream Theater style). This cab absolutley delivers the tone and tone control that makes a cab great. It shines at low volumes and simply simply growls at full volume. No farting sounds ever. The tone is clear, articulate, sharp and defined, never a bowl of mush that many other cabs offer. This cab will keep up with any 4x12 in a normal multi musician jam session.
I also own a marshall 2x12 and in the past have played through many others. BUY IT !
This cab is in my opinion better sounding than vader, mesa, orange, marshall cabs. The g flex brings out that tube sound like no other. im running a peavey 6505, bc rich warlock nj onix, aphex bass exiter, and boss noise suppressor. I love it !!!
I have an El Diablo 100 head that pushes the dual 12 cab. It's amazing. I played with a guy who had a Valvstate Marshall head and a 4 x 12 Marshall cab. He couldn't hear himself play against this cab. I couldn't believe it. This cab is verfiably amazing, and I recommend it to anyone.
This thing is GREAT!! I have it at the tail end of a Marshall EL34 50/50 Poweramp and Line6 Pod Pro XT preamp. I usually play a 7 string. With past 4x12 cabs I had to deal with a lot of farting and woofing of the speakers. I get none of that now. Solid, tight and clear bass notes in clean and distorted tones. The best cab Ive ever played. I need to get another.
This cab is the best sounding 212 ever. It is keeping up down with a 412 marshall and a 412 mesa in the band im in and I'm coming through with no prob. Nice and open sound with the porting. Someone got it right here. Way to go genz benz. I look forward to getting another since they are so easy to move around.
I bought this cab a few months ago and have gigged with it. I can't see why anyone would spend the same amount of money or more on a cab with less features. 4, 16 ohm and 8 ohm stereo and daisy chain ( link 1 cab to another ) and the handles are where they should be. Sounds huge, looks great and built like a tank. They also have the BEST customer service. Even the owner, Mr. Genzler answers the phone ! I can't wait to get another.
Great cab!Delivers the Low end tone I needed. If your looking to add that umph to your sound This cabinet really seems to deliver. Added this to a 4x12 Wow! it really gives it that extra punch.
I purchased this cab after a ten minute try out with a Genz Benz head attached to it, and was instantly impressed. The low end is pronounced without being muddy, and the highs still come through without issue. I currently use a Les Paul into a Soldano Decatone into this cab and it's easily the best setup I've owned. It provides enough "small cabinet" definition with enough "big cabinet" sound to impress almost anyone. The major selling point is the fact that it's too easy to move around. I never liked a cabinet without casters until I tried this one. Size, weight, and handle placement make it perfect for just about anyone. I wouldn't hesitate to get another and I'll be the first in line to recommend one to anybody.
i'm so happy with mine, i bought two. as far as speaker enclosures go, nobody beats genz benz.
I love this cab. I've used the following heads on it and all sounded great. THD univalve, Soldano astroverb, Peavey XXL, Line6 Duoverb, Crate V58(made a special speaker cable mod to drive the cab), Vox AD120VTH, Carvin 150 power amp, Randall 8" combo(made special speaker cable for this too). As you can see I tried a few heads. Why? I was trying to find my sound.
About a year ago I purchased an Engl 60w Fireball head that it took me almost a year to save up the cash for (it cost 1300 dollars with the optional footswitch), and I had been running it through a Behringer Ultrastack cabinet which is a fine cabinet for the cheap price but is not befitting of a high-end head such as an Engl. I needed something that complemented my head well but could not afford the matching 4x12 cabinet (which had a 4 digit price tag). I bought this thing 3 months ago sight unseen based solely on the reviews and the fact that its the exact cabinet George Lynch uses, and all I have to say is WOW!! I was originally planning on something to tide me over until I could save up for the matching 4x12 but the G-Flex sounds so great I won't even need to do that! Instead I'll probably buy another 2x12 G-Flex. This cabinet combined with my Engl amp puts out a sound that is all my own, and the best sound I could have ever imagined to be coming out of a guitar I played. I run my vintage BC Rich ST-III through an ibanez weeping demon wah, Boss EQ pedal, EH Holy Grail Reverb pedal, and Rocktron Hush. The only thing I need to add to my rig now is a decent chorus pedal and compression pedal and I'll have the ultimate rig I could ever ask for!
Great cabinet, totally changes you sound, in a good way. This cab has its own sound characteristics. Very well built, I will eventually buy another one
I am so happy with my Genz Benz. My Marshall cabs are so mid and without bottom they actually are annoying after I played with the Genz Benz. I love my Genz Benz and I can't imagine using anything else. My Peavey Triple X head sounds awesome with the Genz Benz. The Marshall cabs I was using couldn't handle the Triple X. The Marshalls can't compare to the Genz Benz with the smooth lows and wonderful mids and highs which are all nicely balanced in the Genz Benz. Marshall? Ha! Genz Benz is the cab everyone will be using soon enough...it's definitely the cab of the future.
