Big-gig watts and studio-quality tone shaping in a compact, 2U bass head.

The Genz Benz GBE 750 Bass Amp is only 2 rack units high, but puts out 750W of power and has a dual channel preamp with active EQ for maximum tonal flexibility. The FET and tube preamps each run through a 5-band active EQ and each preamp can be used individually or blended together. In addition to the channel controls, it also has Genz Benz's Signal Shape circuit with Low Frequency Extension, Mid Scoop, and High Frequency Attack controls. The channels and Signal Shape circuit are footswitchable with an included 5-button footswitch.

The GBE 750 delivers 400W power at 8 ohms, 675W at 4 ohms, and 750W at 2 ohms. It has an active/passive selectable input, signal mute switch, tuner out, a soft-limit circuit, LED indicators, master volume, sturdy metal chassis, knurled aluminum knobs with detents, variable speed fan cooling, full-featured D.I., three effects loops, slave out jack, dual Speakon® output connectors, POWERFLEX impedance circuit, impedance selector switch, dual voltage switch, and a heavy-duty toroidal transformer. 19"W x 3.5"H x 15"D. 33 lbs.

Powerflex impedance circuitry optimizes the massive power supply to more effectively deliver maximum power at 4 ohms and extended 2 ohm operation into reactive loads. A large switch on the rear panel is provided so that the amplifier can be switched to correctly match the total cabinet impedance load. A front-panel amber LED indicator indicates when the Powerflex feature is switched to 2 ohm operation.

Bought this amp about 1 year ago, with the neox 2/12 cab. The sound is superb. With the proper tweaking this thing will cut through the noisest rooms without loosing any clarity. When i was researching amps I didn't see much negative on GENZ-BENZ, (of course they are not mass producing cheap amps to sell to the masses so there aren't many out there), but what did impress me was e-mailing GENZ-BENZ tech support and my return e-mail was from Jeff Genzler. They are committed to their product. This is not an inexpensive system but if you can spend the money I doubt you will be sorry. The only downside is the head is heavy. After playing for 4 hours and then tearing down at the end of the night this thing is a tank, but while your griping about carrying it out of the club, your only thoughts are how good the sound was, and it makes it worth it!

This amp is terrible, simply put. The solid-state channel is flat and lifeless, the tube channel is very brittle and has the usual quasi-tube tone that you expect from one or two 12ax7's in the preamp. There are more knobs, options, and features than you will ever need. Ever. Seriously, someone put too much thought into this amp. Some of the best sounding amps ever made had little more than bass and treble controls (fender bassman anyone?). there are much better amps out there. For reference, my usual gigging set up is a vintage fender jazz and an ampeg svt.

Comments about Genz Benz GBE 750 Bass Amp:

This is a fantastic amp! I bought mine 3 years ago and haven't played a set without it. Even touring this thing holds up without any maintainance. I love the negative review on this amp tho. Sir, you're using a Fender/ampeg rig. I know it's commercial bass tone. But your amp sounds like dung! Too many knobs for you chief? If you're thinking about this amp, buy it. You won't need a new touring rig for years!

      Solid Value

Comments about Genz Benz GBE 750 Bass Amp:

OK, to start, I use the GBE 750 to drive an UberBass 410, and I play SPector Basses. This amp is very solid. Yes, it's heavy, but a close examination out of the box tells you that it's built like a little tank. And one word... "Controls"! This thing has many! I've had mine for almost a year and I'm still coming up with new sounds. You have sold state and tube, you can use one, or the other, or mix 'em. You definitely have total control over your tone, and that's something every real musician needs. It'll cut through anything, it gives you lots of headroom and a full range of tone. It's not cheap at all, but seriously, you don't see Lamborghini selling cars for $10,000. If you want top performing gear, it'll cost ya.

      Excellent amp

Comments about Genz Benz GBE 750 Bass Amp:

I bought a Genz Benz GBE 750 to replace an Ampeg SVT-3 Pro when it died. I run it with a SWR Goliath IV, and it is awesome. I prefer the individual knobs for tonal control as opposed to a graphic EQ. I don't see much use for combining both solid state and tube tones. I use the tube tone pretty much exclusively. Coupled with a Spector Euro 5LX, this gives plenty of crunch, and a thick low end. It is a great value for the cost. I have played it for several hours continuously at practices, and haven't had any issues with overheating like I see described with comparable SWR amps. Killer tone.

Comments about Genz Benz GBE 750 Bass Amp:

well i've had this amp for almost 3 1/2 years, played numerous shows and have never once been disappointed. no matter where i've played i've never had to push this amp at all, regardless of whether or not i was ran through the PA. in fact i don't really think that i've ever even had to turn it even half way to the clip limit but maybe once (outside). i have tried several genz benz products and have been nothing but impressed with everything they make right down to the shuttle 3.0. they don't waste time or resources making products that can't be used. buy it. you will not regret it.

      Incredible Head

Comments about Genz Benz GBE 750 Bass Amp:

Admittedly, I haven't had much experience with amps in the past, but this is hands-down the best I've ever used. I've been running it through an XB410, and I've been able to get a much more articulate tone than I ever did with my old Peavey combo. I would highly recommend this amp for any bassist looking for some serious power and clarity.

      Best amp on the planet

Comments about Genz Benz GBE 750 Bass Amp:

Not sure what amp liquidtortoise was referring to below, but it's not this amp. I upgraded...yes, upgraded...from my 1979 Ampeg SVT to this 2 years ago and haven't looked back. This thing has tone for days, is rock solid, and the customer support from Genz Benz is, bar-none, one of the finest in the business. This will probably be the last amp I'll ever buy. If it were lost or stolen today, I'd buy a new one.

LOVE the tone!!!!! Could use more controls...

Comments about Genz Benz GBE 750 Bass Amp:

I have had the GBE 750 for about a year and a half, and i would not have another head if it was given to me. I can play ANY style of music and cut through like a knife. The multiple effects loops are great, and you will never need more power than this! The only beef i have with this head is that both channels use the same knee frequencies for each tone control. It could use an 11 or 15 band EQ. I play it through the XB 6x10 and the XB2 2x12 and they are also great... Anyhow, try it! Buy it! its awsome!
