I'm pretty sure my neighbors hate me now

    By Edward Baida

    from Boston, MA/New York, NY

Comments about Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 900W Lightweight Bass Amp Head:

It's expensive. But it's worth it, if you can afford it. If you play shows and don't have your own roadie (yet) but are looking for a high powered amp, this is a terrific option. Great sound, well built, lightweight and it can really thump. It's very rare that I'm happy about spending anywhere around $800 on anything, but I'm absolutely glad I got this guy. Whatever the opposite of buyer's remorse is, that's what I experience every time I play through this amp.
Everything you would expect in an amp. Tube preamp controls so you can overdrive it a bit and get a nice growl, or tone it down and crank up the master. There are three tone shaping options (lo boost, mid scoop, hi boost) which are nice. The only thing that could be improved (not even a complaint) would be the control of the midrange...
So I had a gig a few weeks ago and was debating bringing the Genz Benz with the Epifani UL2-112 cab (one 12" speaker) or my Ampeg SVT-4 and 4x10. Ended up bringing the Genz Benz and the Epifani cab... It quite literally shook the stage and had more than enough power for that room. I've got another Epifani 112 coming in at some point, which is almost a scary thought to me. Two of these speakers through the Genz Benz and I'll be knocking glasses off tables and shaking the foundation of the building at gigs.

The sound is great... not exactly sure how to describe it, but you can really adjust a lot of settings and find a sound you like through this amp.

Feels really solid, and despite being only four pounds (or thereabouts) it's built like a brick. Knobs all feel solid (all metal), which was my one concern because they protrude, so I was slightly worried about them, but I've had no problems with them.
It's expensive, yes... but it's a whole lot cheaper than the medical bills when you throw out your back carrying a 70 pound head up and down a flight of stairs for a gig.

Sweet Tone in a Small Package

Comments about Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 900W Lightweight Bass Amp Head:

I really love the tone on this thing. When I first got it, I was pairing it with an 8-ohm cab. It was a great cab, but I was "only" getting the 500 watts out of the amp. Then I purchased a Genz-Benz Uber 410 to go with it, and WOW! Plenty of oomph, and a great combination.
Definitely not as many options as the Shuttlemax 9.2, but that's one of the things I like about it. I'm all for simplicity of operation, especially if that simplicity provides what I like. I do some minor tweaking from bass to bass; but for the most part, once I find "my" settings, I keep it right around there. I found it very easy to dial in a tone that I like with this amp. A VERY nice tone at that!!
I haven't had it very long, but so far, so good. And one reason I was drawn to the Genz-Benz products is because of the stellar reviews they receive for both their products AND their Customer Service.
Fairly expensive, but you get what you pay for. Plus, Musician's Friend had a nice sale price going, so that made it more palatable. : )

    My best decision

    By Drewwest

    from Denver, CO

Comments about Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 900W Lightweight Bass Amp Head:

I stayed away from Genz Benz and I don't know why. I am a big ashdown guy and ashdown my ashdown amp broke so I was looking around and decided to try this thing out. So I bought it and I am so happy with it. I play a lot. and professionally and this gets a fat warm tone that you love with being a bass player. 4 lbs and 900watts??? WHAT!!! You should probably buy this because its fat warm and it will help you get a little funky at times!

    Gig Worth plus one year

    By Schertz Bass Player

    from Schertz, Texas

Comments about Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 900W Lightweight Bass Amp Head:

Just letting you all know, this little amp has been perfect for hotel gigs, weddings, private parties, and club gigs. I reviewed it almost exactly a year ago and I'm still very impressed. It's loud and clean. Run it at 4 ohms and you'll be a happy Bass Player. I'm buying another one as soon as I sell all my Hartke gear. Believe me, after 38 years of playing through "The Best" crappy bass amps, I've finally found one that is worthy of being called the best.

    Nice but lack of power

    By Dio-bass

    from Puerto Rico

Comments about Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 900W Lightweight Bass Amp Head:

The tube preamp, really is great, you got the tube preamp that you expect from his little monster. The EQ and the Three buttons are awesome you can find a wide open options of tonality, but the master volume is like a shy child I don't see the 900W out of it. I had to return it after one small gig that I had.

THE BEST SOUND I EVER HEARD

    By TOMMY-sbnZP

    from Puerto Rico

Comments about Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 900W Lightweight Bass Amp Head:

my other bass amp is an AMPEG SVT-4 PRO, and never found an amp that match the sound and power of this monster. Now i found it, GB Shuttle 9.0. only weigths 4 pounds compared with the 50 pounds of the SVT with his case. this amp has an uncolored sound, the SVT tends to add a bit of low and high. the GB sound is very natural, and the harmonics are clear than other amps I used before. I was looking for an amp that doesnt break my back and having muscle to move an Mid to Large venue, and i found it and can carry it in the pocket of my bass gig bag. I'm using it with a SWR GOLIATH III 4 Ohms and sounds great, now i'm going to sell the SVT. It looks like a baby over the shoulder of the father, but man, what a sound. The best amp I ever used, in the past i used GK, Ampeg, Yorkville, Peavey, Behringer, Kustom, Hartke, Fender and no one of these have the sound this little guy (in size but not in power) has. I always use it flat Eq. but man, the sound is awesome. my gear Lakland 55-01 with Bart dual coil pickups and pre.

    Gig Worthy

    By Schertz Bass Player

    from Schertz, Texas

Comments about Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 900W Lightweight Bass Amp Head:

I was impressed with this amp at the gig. Ran a Peavey 15' 450 watt 4 ohm Black Widow speaker with it and sounded great. The sound guy loved the output of the direct out and said it was clean. I have played every crappy bass amp, have been doing it for 38 years, and will have to score this one the best so far. Great tone, easy to use, easy to set up and tear down. Call the factory for advice? You'll likely talk to the founder himself...Jeff Genzler. What a class outfit this is. The blue lights on the front are very nice for stage appearance, and the general construction flawless. Each control has a graduated, detent feel to it as you turn it...not smooth, but has little clicks which I hated at first but found to be a useful attribute on stage. I am still evaluating, but no complaints so far. I would recommend this amp highly to my friends and colleagues.
