OVERVIEW

Great-sounding amp for any keyboard.

There is no more iconic name in organ amplification than Leslie, and the Leslie LS2215 carries on the tradition of uncompromising amplification of quality organ tone. But wait, there's more. The LS2215 is a reasonably priced and highly portable keyboard amp that does an astounding job amplifying electric piano, brass and string patches, and even offers a rich, detailed amplification of acoustic piano timbres. This one features a beautiful black finish that disappears under stage lighting.

The LESLIE brand is synonymous with high quality in sound, performance, construction and reliability. The LESLIE LS2215 Combo Amplifier upholds the Leslie tradition now in a compact non-rotary model designed to complement any key-board rig, solo performer, acoustic guitarist, or other application where powerful, clean amplification is desired.

The LS2215 features a 200-watt solid state mono power amp with a pair of 4 mid-high drivers and a 15 woofer. The stereo preamp section features three discrete input channels: Instrument, Keyboard, and Microphone. Each channel features an independent 3-band EQ. The Instrument and Keyboard channels each feature L&R stereo ¼ input jacks, while the Microphone channel features ¼ and XLR jacks.

The Instrument and Keyboard channels include independent stereo send and return jacks, for effects management. A fourth channel offers a Stereo Auxiliary input with volume control. The Master Control division uses a global 3-band EQ, Master volume control and a discrete Headphone jack with its own volume pot.

Comments about Hammond Leslie LS2215 Keyboard Amplifier:

After a few days and a weekend with this amp, I'm really impressed with it. I have the Hammond line out running to the keyboard channel that has an EQ with send/receive to a Leslie rotary pedal that is controlled by a half-moon switch on the A-100 organ.

My Kemper profiler runs into the instrument channel and it's a great FRFR amp. By itself with a guitar into it, it has a fat, Fendery clean tone. There's also a mic channel if I want to use it as a PA, and it has stereo line outs as well.

I really like the sound of this unit. It isn't exactly like a 122/147 to my (amateur) ears because the box lacks the louvers and build that makes a real Leslie what it is and it's running through a (very good) pedal. But for the home and stage use, it presents a good alternative that's very portable. There are two inset handles and the thing is built like a tank. I imagine it would hold up well to road use since all of the knobs are recessed to protect them. It'd be a snap to move with a small dolly.

It also worked well with the Pro 3x, but I didn't notice much difference in the sound vs. the pedal. I have the pedal on top of the Hammond so I can make adjustments like adding gain. But, if one has a Pro 3x and wants to use it, it sits up top just fine with about a 4" overhang front to back.

Next time I will think twice before ordering from them

Comments about Hammond Leslie LS2215 Keyboard Amplifier:

I bought open box item and it came to me ... as opened box at many sides. The box was pretty seriously damaged and ! was worried about the condition of the amp. The power cord was missing and they did not let me know about it. There was nothing on their site saying that anything was missing. So I had to take a trip to the store to buy one. The sound of the guitar was fine but I bought the amp for my keyboard. The piano sounded badly, I think there is something wrong with the speaker's membrane.

Comments about Hammond Leslie LS2215 Keyboard Amplifier:

There hasn't been a keyboard amp made this well since Roland's silver Keyboard lineup of the mid 1980's. This is a smooth sounding "radiator" style of amp/speaker combination. It does have a softer side for the ultra high ends, which is easily overcome by adjusting additional gain on the treble knob. It has more than enough hookups for any type of stage/monitor/mains interfacing that one would require. It is a bit heavy for one person to transport, thus a dolly or small hand truck will be best utilized. Overall, it will support anyone's keyboard challenges.
