I bought this for some recording, and just simple practicing and couldn't be happier. Even for it's size it certainly is loud enough, but I don't need to push the master past more than 1/2 way.I even was using it before I started throwing effects on it and I was able to get great sounds out of it. It doesn't have a foot switch to go between channels, but at least it has reverb (if you are into reverb).Solid built piece of equipment that sounds fantastic, great practice amp.
I just got this amp a couple days ago and I have to say I like it even though it came damaged. There is a big nick in the material around the handle and one of the 8 end caps is cracked badly. At first I was upset at the cosmetic flaws (not the first time with MF thats happened) but decided to at least plug it in. I have to say I wasn't overly impressed at first but I plugged the HK warp pedal in and began to fire away. I played for almost 2 hours before I realized I had forgotten about the cracks and nicks on the amp. So I decided to keep it and am very happy with it. It is the perfect practice amp. I mainly use it with headphones. I got the free warp pedal with this amp for less than $140. The reverb is okay and the light up blue console is just cool. I have a 15w Crate amp I bought about 5 years ago for $100 and this HK blows it away. If you're looking for a practice amp then this is a good choice. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who wants a true tube sound or power overdrive sound. This thing is only 15 watts and shouldn't be used to gig with or jam with others. It's a very good solo practice amp that works well with the HK warp pedal.
This amp is an awesome value! It's clean sound is warm and sounds like a tube amp, the lead channel is very good too. The tone controls are voiced just right for the 8" Celestion! It's also pretty loud for a practice amp.
This was my first amp and it is still my favorite travel amp out there. It has a great sound to it and the lead channel is incredible. It even looks cool with the blue light. If you ever travel a lot with your guitar, then this amp is great for that. It is small, but can be louder than expected. I definitely recommend this amp.
Loud clean and beautiful, blows away all the other amps in this price range. Great Overdrive too and loud great little celestion allows you to gig !
I've always had my eye on a small H&K practice amp. I'm VERY impressed by the quality and tone of this little beast. It's not intended to be a high gain amp, but there's more than enough overdrive built in for most rockers. It really shines on the clean channel. The EQ is relative, but well voiced and musical. I like that it can be bright without harshness--that's a rarity in small solid-state combos, in my experience. With low-to-mid gain settings on the lead channel, I was actually able to get great dynamics by my pick attack and manipulation of the guitar's volume knob--another rarity in small solid state amps. That must be from the "Current Feedback" design of the power amp. Great job H&K! I'm really surprised by the volume the little Celestion puts out there. The cabinet is 80 percent closed, so the bass response is better than expected for a 15W 1X8 combo. I highly recommend this amp. If H&K put this kind of effort into the meakest of their amps, I'm exited to think of what their high-end amps are like to play!
Suits its purpose as a practice amp. No complaints. Decent sound.
I purchased this amp as a replacement for my Fender Frontman 25. It suited me just fine, until the amp jack came loose and I lost all sound. I cut my losses and this thing caught my eye. After a week of playing with my AX5G processor through the clean channel I am in total awe. I say for a 15 watt amp this thing is wicked. The amp has such a crisp clean setting. I haven't messed with the distortion channel too much, but it didn't disapoint me at all. It sounds great, I just use the processor instead. I would say that the Blu 15 beats the Frontman in EVERY department but loudness. But that is fine by me, I am still very much a novice and don't plan on playing packed stadiums any time soon....
I bought this amp for my son as a starter amp, and was thoroughly impressed once I plugged in my Telecaster.I tried my Strat through this little monster, and found the clean channel rich and sparkly while the Lead channel had plenty of wallop with a sound of amps costing much more money. The 3 band EQ allows you to shape the tone to your liking, and the Celestion speaker really does this 15 watt beast justice. Worth every penny.
My friend has this amp and whenever we get together to jam he brings this amp. I don't really like it all that much. The clean channel is pretty good, but I thought that the distortion sucked. It was just to sloppy for me. This amp is more of a blues amp. It doesn't do so well with hard rock and metal. It does pretty good with pedals but not great. I like my little 15 watt fender travel amp way better than this one. It has way better distortion and a better clean setting, and it's about half of the price. So I would say if you want a travel amp, get a Frontman 15g. That thing has great distortion, more sound, and is much smaller.
I bought my Hughes and Kettner 15W amp combo Edition Blu back in 2004, and the first time I played on it, I was impressed. I originally had a Crate 10 watt amp that came with the Crate Tour Pack and I was surprised this Limited Edition Blu 15@ amp just blew it away! I've been playing on it since and I love the sound of the reverb plus the sound of the distortion and everything about it. I would recommend it highly to someone who is new around amps and don't know a lot about them.
This is one sweet little amp, especially for the money, and LOUD! The distortion is great, and the clean channel is like butta... The way the control panel lights up blue is completely cool. The Celestian speaker really puts out great bass, especially for it's size, and the fact that the back is closed seems to help the bass response. I compared it to similarly priced amps from Peavey, Fender, Ibanez, and Roland, and nothing even came close. Buy this amp, you will NOT regret it!
I like the blue.
What a small tone monster! This is the best sounding low-wattage amp I've ever heard. I mostly use the clean channel, sometimes the lead with a small amount of crunch. EQ knobs affect each other, so there's not a sound I can't dial in on it. Reverb is nice and lush. Master volume, CD ins, Celestion speaker, all add up to a nice deal. To be picky, I would have put a line out on it, but I couldn't be happier with it as is. Sure, the blue lighting looks cool, too. I don't understand why there are so many bad reviews. Worth looking into for sure.
