I bought this amp thinkin it was top of the line. Well I was wrong, it's not good enough for the money I spent. I've played similarly priced amps that sounded better.
This is one of the best sounding amplifiers on the market! When combined with the Z-Board, you have an arsenal of great tone & effects in a more compact package. Rather than having to lug a bunch of rack gear for effects, you have everything together & ready to go.
Probably one of the worst amps ever, the modeling sucks, the sounds are pitiful. I could probably get better effects out of a SQUIER amp.
This amp makes my fingers want to tap dance all over the fretboard. It is the least processed sounding modeling amp made...truly warm and full of tone!
I got mine years ago, and since then more amp models have become available, as well as a couple of updates that have made this fine amp even better. Unfortunately it is an expensive amp, and the zBoard is highly recommended to get the most out of this unit. The features seem more focused on quality than quantity, and that's how it should be. Right now I have 3 tube amps which I love, and still the zenTera is the one I use the most.
This is the best sounding amplifier that I've ever owned. I love tube tone, and played nothing but Mesa Boogie. But when I found this amp which is capable of producing tube tones without having to re-tube my amp every year, I was sold on it! The effects are very impressive and easy to dial in. This amp has replaced my whole 12 space rack of preamps, effects, and power amps... Much easier to transport! And the quality is still there.
This is flat-out THE most versatile amp you will ever own. Sounds more "tubey" than my Mesa Boogie and recreates the sound of a Triple Rectifier exactly. Line 6 isn't even on the same playing field as H&K. Whether I'm playing Judas Priest, Clapton, Black Sabbath, Ozzy or original stuff, this amp foots the bill. Definitely Spendy, but so far, worth it.
With the new software (upgradable ONLINE), you now have 16 different amps at your disoposal. It sounds more like a tube amp than any tube amp I ever owned and sounds more like a Roland Jazz Chorus than my Roland Jazz Chorus!
It takes a bit to figure out how to manipulate the sounds/delays/etc., but well worth the effort. Don't skimp on the foot pedal. You will want it to maximize the tones and flexibility.
