OVERVIEW

Jet City's isolation cab is a great solution for recording, controlling stage volume, and a variety of other sound applications.

Wanna crank your tube amp in a home recording environment? Need to manage your stage volume and feed the mains in a club? Jet City turned to its allies at Eminence Speaker for expertise in creating the JetStream 12 guitar speaker. Eminence designed the isolation cabinet to exact specifications, and handled the super-smart stuff in the acoustic design too. Then it was loaded with a custom Eminence Jet City 12³ driver.

For recording, the Jet City JetStream cabinet's isolation lets you record your amp full out, reflecting your true tone without waking the neighbors or inviting visits from the cops.

Plug your tube amp into the JetStream speaker input, and set up your amp tones”go ahead and turn it up. Clip in your favorite guitar-recording mic and position it how you prefer. Then close up the JetStream guitar speaker's front door, greatly reducing the sound level in the room.

FEATURES
  • Isolation cab designed by Eminence
  • 1 x 12" custom Jet City Eminence driver

Comments about Jet City Amplification JetStream 12 ISO 1x12 Isolation Guitar Speaker Cabinet:

Great home and professional recording tool. Does a great job of keeping the volume to a minimum. I was expecting it to reduce the volume in the room, but not this significantly. I would have no problem recording at 2am with my amp cranking because it wouldn't come close to waking up your household. I am not 100% sold on the speaker that is inside, but that might be my own tastes and not that the speaker is poor quality.

Comments about Jet City Amplification JetStream 12 ISO 1x12 Isolation Guitar Speaker Cabinet:

Overall this is a great product and well worth the price I paid. I picked it up at a discount during a memorial day sale at MF. There are certainly better options out there. That being said, this unit is satisfactory for my condo home studio and helps to keep things at a reasonable volume.

Pros:
- Isolates sound very well. It will not completely isolate the sound. I keep mine inside my closet wrapped in a blanket and can crank my 20w Jet City Tube amp to 6 (which is very loud) and it is still reasonable. I added some acoustic treatment on the inside for added isolation.
- Reasonably easy to mod. I took this box apart and it seems reasonably easy to mod if you decide to add a second mic output later.
- Small in size. I was actually expecting a much larger unit. This fits reasonably well into my walk-in closet, which is a plus for those looking to save space in a condo/apartment. It is also pretty light and easy to move around.

Cons:
- The stock speaker came with a dented cone. This didn't bother me too much as I was going to immediately replace it with a Celestion Vintage 30 speaker anyway. Still, it was kind of annoying.
- Mediocre construction. This doesn't seem to be the most sturdily-built cabinet. The sound isolation inside doesn't seem to be too high quality, but as I stated above this seems pretty easy to mod if you decide to do so later. That being said, the materials used in this cabinet seem to work reasonably well.
-Only one microphone output. For those wanting to blend microphones, you will have to either record one mic at a time (which might be better to avoid phase issues) or you'll have to mod this to include another XLR output. Modding wouldn't be terribly difficult, as I have already said, but it might take an appreciable amount of time/cost if you don't already have the necessary tools/materials.

In short, this won't solve all your noise problems, but it is a great and affordable start for someone doing home recording.

Cranking up the volume at midnight while Jamming on JamKazam was not possible until I purchased the Jet City Amplification Isolation Cabinet. The cabinet works great and the sound that leaks out is just fine.

Well made, works good and is affordable.....Using in a non-professional home studio application. I'm sure there are "better" ISO cabs out there, and some you would have to mortgage the house to get, but this cab works well and does its intended function admirably. I'm glad I made the purchase.

Comments about Jet City Amplification JetStream 12 ISO 1x12 Isolation Guitar Speaker Cabinet:

This was a very sweet deal for the price. The cabinet is well constructed, has good sound quality and is in fact surprisingly quiet with a small tube amp cranked to 10. My only gripe is the gooseneck they have in it is way to long to be useable, there is barely room to keep the mic off the speaker cone. I had to order a 6" on ebay but not a huge deal.

Comments about Jet City Amplification JetStream 12 ISO 1x12 Isolation Guitar Speaker Cabinet:

This box is a courteous thing to possess if you live in an apartment building. It cuts about 70% of the amplified volume, and I presume the moving blankets I've ordered will take care of another 15% or so.

I had to trade out the speaker to match the 8-ohm output of the little 15-amp Fender head I use. I used another Jensen. I am not entirely happy with the internal gooseneck used for mic placement: it is pretty droopy. At some point a heavier mic may force me to come up with an improvement.

The sound quality is very good for the tone and amount of gain I favor -- clean and not too overdriven. Playing through this thing is much more satisfying than using some soulless, algorithm based chip-box. You are dealing with sound waves, for one thing: the sustain is governed by physics, not formulation. I feel there is more connection between what you play and what you hear. The resulting track just sounds better. (My signal track consists of a 58 feeding a UA 610, if I add compression it's via a Vintech 609CA.)

I wish I'd had one of these cabinets 5 years ago.

      Best bang for the buck

      By Mark Gregory

      from Sierra Madre, CA

Comments about Jet City Amplification JetStream 12 ISO 1x12 Isolation Guitar Speaker Cabinet:

Overall, after a few adjustments, I have been able to get really good tone with this cab and an SM57 without pissing off my neighbors. It cuts down the volume by about 75%, which is great. A must have if you can't crank your amps at home but want to.
The features are fairly minimal...a speaker, a gooseneck for the mic, and an XLR and USB output (which I haven't tried yet). I don't see the point of the USB output for an iso cab, seems more like a gimmick to me. The gooseneck is a little tough to position but manageable. It has a nice small footprint and nice finish. I wish they would have made it easier to swap out speakers.
It seems fairly well built. I didn't try the stock Eminence speaker, I replaced it with a Tone Tubby 40/40. The internal sound padding is OK, but it leaves some midrange resonance. I added a layer of 1" Auralex wedges all around and that helped.
For the money, it is a great. It would cost almost the same to build something similar, plus the time spent doing it. I looked at other options (the Rivera and Demeter iso cabs) and they seemed way too pricey. This was perfect for my price range. Throw your favorite speaker in there and add about $20 of extra foam and you are good to go.

      Great Studio Option!

Comments about Jet City Amplification JetStream 12 ISO 1x12 Isolation Guitar Speaker Cabinet:

The Jet City Isolation Cabinet is a great cabinet to have in your studio. I'm a big Eminence speaker fan so I was interested when I heard Eminence supplied the speaker and helped with the design.I use Marshall, Randall, and Sunn tube amps to power this cabinet. A Shure mike is what I chose to use and have had great results.

Lots of resonance, in a bad way.

      By Anonymous

      from Undisclosed

Comments about Jet City Amplification JetStream 12 ISO 1x12 Isolation Guitar Speaker Cabinet:

I really wanted to like this cabinet. I own a lot of nice tube heads of various wattages. The resonant frequencies at 150hz and 3khz make this cabinet very difficult to use. The recorded sound is very disappointing. The cabinet is very well made and looks great. I even changed speakers to a Celestion vintage 30. That barely helped. Perhaps someone can recommend a speaker for this cabinet.
