OVERVIEW

Sweet, singing distortion.

Keeley's Low Gain Overdrive Effect. The White Sands Luxe Drive.

Inspired by the faintest rounding of your tone when you start to push a tube, this is Keeley's low gain drive solution. The Keeley White Sands pedal uses asymmetrical clipping that clips or distorts half of the guitar signal more than the other half. With this type of clipping you simulate some of the characteristics of a tube amplifier. It's also in the clipping stage that we keep the bass response tight by making sure bass frequencies don't get muddy when they are distorted. What you get is pure Rock'n'Roll with the Keeley White Sands.

The White Sands Luxe Drive uses a different tone control network that is found in many tube drive pedals. Fan of the Keeley Red Dirt Overdrive? Well think of this as a low drive version with a tone control network that doesn't boost the mid-range frequencies. The Tone range is controlled yet very useful in dialing the high-end response. Want to dial in a transparent tone to see if the pedal can remain true to your guitar's tone? Go ahead! Do you want to use that neck pickup on your Les Paul or other humbuckers-equipped guitar but not have it turn to mush? Don't worry, the Luxe Drive isn't about putting a mask on your tone, in fact it retains amazing transparency.

Okay, need to kick it up a notch and hit the crowd with some dirt? Sandy Mode - drive that's smooth, feels Really Good and has that snarl of authenticity. SANDY is what you need when you aren't trying to be sensitive!

We know players pay a lot of money for their guitars. Why have a pedal destroy your signal? The White Sands uses the JFET input buffer, like what's used in the Red Dirt and Seafoam chorus, to capture your pickup's nuances without loading them down.

For those familiar with the Keeley line-up, this falls into a range between the sparkling clarity of the Katana and the rough'n'ready Red Dirt pedal.

Not into the kind of distortion that makes your fillings hurt? Neither is the White Sands. Order today.

Comments about Keeley White Sands Luxe Drive Guitar Effects Pedal:

Got this to add some flair to a modded Champion 600 in the bedroom. Has a very crisp, subtle, clean and transparent sound. Might not be the right thing for a metal-head, but great for a nice spectrum of bluesy/ rockin tones.

Perfect for guitar into a PA amp

Comments about White Sands Luxe Drive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I play keyboard and lead guitar in a blues/classic rock garage band, but I only want to carry one amp; a Yamaha DXR10 powered PA amp. Perfect for keyboard, but too clean and flat for guitar. I needed a low-gain pedal to give it that "Blues Junior" bite. TS9 Tube Screamer was my 1st solution, but at minimum gain, it still had too much "fuzz" with my humbucker Peavey, and that thin, no bass, clock radio-ish midrange sound wasn't to my liking. When I read about the White Sands, I jumped at it, despite the price, and I'm glad I did. The switch on Clean, gain at about 11:00, tone full-on, is just right for rhythm crunch and mild leads, and the fat, full transparent tone is much better than the TS9's thin, bright bark. I run a Fulltone OCD into the White Sands for leads, and the combination is still very transparent, despite the much enhanced compression and sustain. If I want that Clapton/BB smooth, fat lead tone, I just back the tone knob on the White Sands down to 12:00, and it's perfect. If I lost my White Sands, I'd buy another one.
Why only 4 stars? Well, its not that big a deal, I guess, but the pilot light on the darned thing is blinding on a dark stage, like in most of the dive bars we play. I painted over it with a Sharpie. Better, but still too bright.

Comments about Keeley White Sands Luxe Drive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I got this as a level 2 blemished at a discount .Probably would not have pulled the trigger at full price but glad I did . It is just what I was looking for. This is defiantly a 2 in one great clean boost and very good low/med gain on the Sandy side . I have owned other Keeley pedals and know they are high quality . I usually do not write reviews but when I researched this pedal not a lot of info out there and only a couple of meh you tube demos . I am surprised there is not more chatter out there because this is such a great pedal . The clean side is just that similar to RC Booster Sandy side is just right amount of grit or light distortion for blues and classic rock . I do not agree with people comparing to a TS9 or 808 it does not have the midrange but all and all very pleasing dirty sound . I Love this pedal sounds great , built well and very good looking .

Comments about Keeley White Sands Luxe Drive Guitar Effects Pedal:

Fantastic transparency on both the Clean and Sandy modes. Lower gain OD pedal, perfect for classic rock/pop, modern rock and pretty much everything else except hard rock/metal. Very nice for rhythm players. The transparency on this pedal is unmatched in my opinion. Even with the gain dialed up, in either the Clean or Sandy modes, the clarity shines through. I tend to use the Clean mode with my LP and can get anything from spot-on Neil Young tones to some gritty Allman's. I prefer the Sandy mode with my S500. The Sandy mode does boost the mids, similar to a TS, however it is much more controllable and less "middy." Again, the best part is the clarity and transparency. For example, in the Sandy mode, I can have the gain dialed up to about 3 o'clock and strum "cowboy chords" that just ring through. Drop back the volume on my guitar and it's tone-heaven. The tone control allows for a good amount of shaping and is not at all shrill on the top end. I guess my only critique, if I had to be picky, is that the red on white design is hard to see for those of us with old-man eyesight, lol. Good thing I know which knob is which, lol. Seriously awesome pedal. I know some need more gain than this allows and that is understandable, but this pedal is nonetheless a work horse.
