I use this amp for band practice and it's amazing! It has great tone and the 6 band EQ is amazing with the Gain pre - amp and volume controls are awesome! I don't use this amp for live shows. I use a Peavey 120 series bass head and a Peavey 215 cab with two 15's in the cab. This Kustom is good for band practice and recordings. I highly recomend this Kustom to a bass player that wants a great Kustom bass amp.
I dont actually own this amp; however, I puchased the Kustom KBA 100 which is simular. It is put together really well. The amp I have has some special effects on it such as distortion, funk, etc... The effects are terrible. I couldnt find the sound I was looking for. So I use a Digitech guitar processor which gets the job done. The amp is very loud which shakes the windows or duct work if playing in the basement. When playing with other members in the band, I have to turn the volume way down so that the bass isnt overriding the drums, guitar, and singer. I would say for the money it is a good buy. I have had it for a year and have had no problems with it. The amp is heavy and kind of awkard to carry around.
I've played through this baby a couple of times at a music shop in town. I'm always impressed with its tone and punchyness. It's awesome, it delivers a clean, fat, smooth tone every time I play through it. It is Loaded with features, it even has a built in compressor! It is a great buy for the money and well worth it!
This is my first bass amp, although I've been playing guitar for many years, I just recently took up the bass. I practacially read all the reviews, and then started shopping. I've always been a Fender amp man, so I checked out Fender, along with Ampeg, Roland, Acoustic, Marshall, Peavey, and several others, including this Kustom that I bought. It is very difficult to try to compare each amp because there are always differences between each brand and model. I will only say that in the price range of this Kustom, no other 15" could touch it. It has superior tone and depth. And if you look at tell tale signs, the small things, like the way the cabinet is put together and the quality of materials used, the Kustom is tops. I have gotten it dialed in and it will do everything I need at this time. If I start playing bigger venues, I'll for sure look at a Kustom Head/Cabinet. I recommend that a person shop for the sound and quality they're looking for, but for me this is it. For a single 15" combo, this baby will thump! Weight is good, but not excessive, and I like the fact that it doesn't tilt back because it is so much more stable. It doesn't have a special control for the horn, but that can be adjusted with the 5k knob on the equalizer. I wish it had a headphone jack. I also tested the Kustom KBA210C, which is also a great amp, more punchy, and more volumn, but lacking the smooth low tone of the 15". A great value and it is really good looking to boot. Try it out, I think you'll be amazed.
