Comments about Laney CUB CAB 2x12 Open-Back Guitar Speaker Cabinet:

i've tried all kinds of cabs with the orange micro terror. the 8" orange cab. sounded super boxy. then a 112 randall rd. it was better but still boxy. then a 412 100 watt 16 ohm cab. way too much speaker for the micro terror. got this little cub cab 212 and it is amazing. the celestion rocket 50s are much better than what i was expecting. it carries the tone of the amp well. for just a small practice amp and this lightweight cab work extremely well and not for a bad price. its loud.

Comments about Laney CUB CAB 2x12 Open-Back Guitar Speaker Cabinet:

I bought this cab with three considerations in mind: 1) light and portable, 2) loud enough for stage and studio with a loud drummer, 3) attractive enough to live in my living room and appeal to non-musicians.

It is definitely light and portable. The dual handles on the long edge are a nice touch in terms of portability and facilitating good lifting posture. The cab is not very heavy in and of itself and is a bit compact. I wanted these things. Still, it is obviously a 2x12, suggesting a substantial piece of equipment.

It is black, to my eyes. The description says 'chocolate brown' sometimes online...but this is black. And it is attractive.

I have not used it on stage or with a loud drummer, though in my private studio it seems like it would handle substantial volume without too much breakup.

Comments about Laney CUB CAB 2x12 Open-Back Guitar Speaker Cabinet:

Great Cab! Rocket 50's provide great punch, clarity, articulation, and overall great sound. Any genre of music is suitable. You cannot beat this cab for the price. The greatest feature is the ability to get more bass driven sound by laying it down horizontally or boosting the treble response by keeping it vertical. Buy it, you will not be disappointed.

Comments about Laney CUB CAB 2x12 Open-Back Guitar Speaker Cabinet:

Adds nice warmth as an extension cab for Mesa Express 5/50. Light, great price and sounds fantastic on the Mesa "Burn" setting. Up until now I have struggled with the Mesa's 5 Watt Class A setting with single coil guitars -- the combination can be a little shrill. But this addition lends a smooth midrange tone and tight bottom end. Just got it, so haven't figured out exactly where to put it. But so far, so good.

Comments about Laney CUB CAB 2x12 Open-Back Guitar Speaker Cabinet:

I have been a fan of Laney ever since I bought and toured with a GH100L years ago. My touring days are over but I will be using this cab for low volume practice and band rehearsals possibly recording as well. Sound quality is excellent and tone character really shines through. May even use in smaller clubs when the house sound is decent. I am running a Blackstar HT5 head through this cab and it sounds just as good as my Fender 4x12. Less bass because it is open back but the Laney Cub Cab really projects well. Stock Laney HH speakers are decent may change out to something else later possibly V30's or Greenbacks. No regrets on this purchase as it will definitely save by back. Cab is light (about 30#) and compact/easy to carry. Looks pretty cool with a lunch box head on top in vertical position and the HT5 fits perfectly. Grill cloth was a little loose at the top and bottom so there is a slight ripple. Not a huge issue for me. Cabinet construction feels solid and the tolex looks great. I appreciate that they included rubber feet on two sides of the cab for horizontal or vertical placement. This is a small thing but Laney included swag stickers with the cab. Unnecessary but appreciated. Would recommend to most players as a very portable but quality cab for your lunch box or low wattage head.

Comments about Laney CUB CAB 2x12 Open-Back Guitar Speaker Cabinet:

Right now I'm running my Eleca EG-50T through this cab and the sound is great. Versatile, handsome, strong, and always ready.......Just like me! Seriously I've been waiting on this cab for awhile, always sold out quickly. Finally got my M/F rep involved and everything fell into place. There is a difference in the bottom end placed vertical vs. horizontal, at least in my little practice room-studio, and that's kind of fun to play with. It hasn't been on stage yet, and I'm anticipating it will handle the rooms we play in. I haven't tried micing this cab yet, but I'm looking forward to experimenting with mic placement. If you're looking for a light weight, versatile, good sounding cab this Laney Cub is a great option to consider, and the price is right.

Comments about Laney CUB CAB 2x12 Open-Back Guitar Speaker Cabinet:

The price was so low that I bought the unit figuring if I didn't like the speakers at least I had a good cabinet and could upgrade the speakers later. I was impressed with the quality of the unit when it arrived and blown away by the sound quality when I tested it out. First gig it sounded great and half he weight of my Mustang 4.

I am using the cabinet with a Crate 150 Power block, a Boss GT-6 pedal and a Schecter c1-E/A with a Piezo pick up. With the combined Rigg, I cn get super clean sounds, get pretty darn close to the sound f a 12 string guitar and get s grungy as I want and the speakers stay clear as a bell. I will not get a chance to test it outside till our gig at the end of the month. But so far I am very impressed.

Onlly small negative was the positioning of the handles. I moved them to have one in the center horizontal and one center Vertical and added wheels. Can't get much easier to bring in then that.

Comments about Laney CUB CAB 2x12 Open-Back Guitar Speaker Cabinet:

I bought my second Laney 2X12 cab from MF about six months or so ago, and have been running the pair from my Bugera V22. I fell in love with the Laney tone with the first one that I have had for a couple years now, also a MF buy. My only concern is the the units seem lightly constructed but that also makes them easy to move. They can be used vertical or horizontal, not much difference on a carpeted floor, but noticeable bass boost on a hardwood floor. I have both cabs mic'd, one goes to a Tascam 112 mkII cassette deck (I tape my rehearsals and noodlin') and the other cab is mic'd into my Tascam DP 32. I have an Orange 4X12 cab, that I will also review, and the Laneys, while not directly comparable, stand up pretty well against the Orange (but there's twice the power going through the Orange, too-- also a tube amp).
Bottom line is that for the money, the Laney 2X12 cabs are a steal, and sound great too, very "English".
