OVERVIEW

Full of features, amazing tone and a thoroughly modern and aggressive look.

The Laney Ironheart IRT60H is a thoroughly modern tube head capable of full on metal tones but offers you far more than other metal oriented amps. It's loaded with a pair of premium TAD 6L6 loaded tubes. The feature packed preamp is laid out logically and features three distinct channels (Clean, Rhythm and Lead). Each channel features passive 3-band EQ with push pull options for Deep, mid shift and treble shift which allows you to dial in the exact tone you are after. The master section features an overall Dynamics control which allows you to vary the interaction of the amp the drivers. Depending on the volume, an overall Tone control, a Laney custom Digital Reverb and a Watts feature allow you to dial the out put of the amp back to a whisper without destroying your tone.

One of the coolest features of the IRT60H is a switchable Pre-Boost facility which functions just like kicking in your favorite boost pedal in front of your amp. This gives your playing more dynamics and feel. The rear panel of the unit features everything you need to connect your outboard gear, a variable level FX loop, a variety of extension speaker sockets and the supplied FS4-IRT footswitch connection socket. You'll also find the switch that gives you the ability to change the output tubes from the factory should you like. Finished in tough black basket weave Tolex with matching front fret and brooding red glow, it looks as good as it sounds.

Comments about Laney IRT60H 60W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I've had this amp since last November, and i have been completely blown away! Lets start with the clean- it is one of the best clean sounds I have ever heard, so don't think it is just for metal and can't get a clean tone. you can crank this channel and get a great AC/DC type sound.this is where scaling down the watts is very helpful!Next is the rhythm channel. it has an amazing tone for hair metal all the way to modern death metal. I personally love adding the boost, which gives it an amazing saturated overdrive. You will have more gain than you could ever use on this amp. The lead channel is amazing as well, pretty similar to the rhythm channel but with a little more gain. perfect for shredding.
I cannot think of a single sound that you can't get from this amp, and it sounds amazing with each. I play jazz, blues, classic rock, hair metal, thrash metal, metalcore, and Christian music all on my Les Paul and it blows me away. Buy this amp and you won't regret it!

Comments about Laney IRT60H 60W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

Like many guitar types i have played and owned many different amps from Peavey (JSX, Satriani model) to Mesa Boogie (SOB, Dual Rec) to Marshall (TSL, DSL, JVM combo, and 800's) to some older rack gear, to modeling am even some boutique types that i tried out, and this amp is holding its own with all of them and im keeping this one!

The amp has 3 channels (Clean Crunch, Lead) and delivers great tone in each channel, built in reverb (I use it sparingly but it sounds great) a built in attenuator that actually works for lower house playing. (Yes it really works!!) It has a easy bias switch on the back to go from 6L6 to EL34s i want to try this out soon. The amp also has a dynamics knob (makes the amp tighter or breath more) sorta like compression, i like my amp to breath and bloom a little.. Tone is subjective but i LOVE the tone im hearing after all these years of playing (playing 24 years) it just feels great when i play and it responds to you picking, slapping strings and volume knob, great response to playing it. No mud, no noise, nothing just clarity and warm tube tone at any volume

I have played for 24 years and currently play in a cover band playing things from 70s (Zep, Deep purple, acdc) to 90s and modern (Foo fighters, Lenny Kravitz, Tool, modest mouse, STP) and it covers all the music with ease.... want a old school rock sound? its there, a clean jazzy sound? its there - modern metal? its there, and it does it well,.I cant say how much i love playing the amp and the interaction i have with the head, my cabinet and the guitar with me, it is a sweet amp and i truly cant say anough good things about the amp. I have owned the 60 watter for 9 months and its been a fixture on my cabinets

I Highly highly recommend this amp for anyone looking at a amp that sounds awesome, has great useful features and slays/sounds great in the house, in the studio or on the stage. Laney TRULY hit a home run with this amp, go try one for yourself i cant recommend this amp enough

Comments about Laney IRT60H 60W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

Let me say i honestly honestly can not say enough good things about this wonderful amp that Laney made . Chords are super-clear and articulate, leads are liquidity and harmonics fly off the fret board, its very responsive to a players touch and handwork. Overall very versatile and can be used for any genre punk, metal hard rock, slow jams, whatever you need or want the amp will go to bat for you

It has 3 channels (i basically use 2, sometimes the 3rd) but the amp sounds great on all 3 channels, there is also a boost feature on the amp along with a dynamics knob (i think this is compression feel knob) along with a wattage knob for lower volume player and includes a foot switch as well. It can be self biased for EL34 or 6l6 tubes, i tried em both and love em both, right now i have 6l6 in the amp, it comes with delay and a effects loop sounds great at all volumes

I play with a cover band part time (good clean fun and gas $$) and do some prog original type music as well, the amp can cover ANY tone that i need or want. I own several guitars including a PT Tele, a Les Paul Standard, Music man axis and Mexican strat and it sounds great through all of them. I have owned Marshall DSL, TSL, 800, Mesa heartbreaker, Peavey, and recently an Engl and this amp along with many others and this is hands down my favorite, everyone has different ears and hands but i cant stop gushing over this amp, i cant

5 stars, Laney did a bang up job for the amp, its a great value, i have owned mine for a while and no issues (love the side hands grip) and i find new tones in in weekly, change and turn a knob and you get different tones, did i say i love this amp lol. Great job Laney, hey guitar nuts (im 1 of them) do yourself a favor and try this amp out ASAP, Extremely tight Gains, tons of quality, fantastic clairity, super responsive, and any sound needed, great job Laney. 5 stars Laney

Comments about Laney IRT60H 60W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

So...one day my 100w head dies...hopelessly. In need to replace, I wanted a head that would have a nice clean on that channel designation. I searched. Never finding exactly what I had in mind. In desperation, I ordered the Laney Ironheart 60w (100 watts is just plain crazy). Of course when I began to really investigate this particular amp, I realized it was mainly voiced for metal. Well at this point I thought I had made a mistake. Within a few days the amp was at my doorstep. Ok...I'll give it a go. From the point I un-boxed it I had a great feeling about it. You know...a gut feeling. Well, I plugged in and was totally wowed! The clean was amazing with plenty of head room if you're not playing in a stadium. Then I tried the drive channels and was blown away at how good they sounded. In fact, it is easy to forget you own dirt pedals to accomplish the same. Another big bonus is that you can tame this amp to bedroom levels and keep your tones...and neighbors. Bottom line...I love this amp and glad I made the "mistake" of purchasing it.

Comments about Laney IRT60H 60W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

              First day: WOW.
First 2 months: I CAN'T find the desired EQ. Buy Regret comes in.
3rd month: GOT IT, NOW I know how to dial EQ on this.
Rest of the year: THIS IS PERFECT.

              - I love the clean channel, can be funky, straty, warm or edgy, with no pedals at all (I only use a NS-2)

              - I have the rhythm channel at GAIN 4, to have a dirty/clean channel without having to lower the volume on the guitar (I do sometimes crank GAIN up to 6.5 depending the needs) it has color and texture in a blues/ downtempo metal arpeggio / funky way.

              - The Lead channel ALWAYS on GAIN 7.5, with REVERB on 5, just to get more body on solos, and it sings (a delay obviously would do a better job, REVERB on this is kinda stock but gets done the simple jobs)

On a side note, IT DOES "djent" or whatever you wanna call that CHUG CHUG sound famously, you can play Hendrix, Zepp, BB King, Pantera, Tool, Deftones, Alice In Chains, and almost anything I can think of, maybe not in an exact way, but it'll get you close to any of those styles.

AND! it has HANDLES! YOU'LL LOVE THAT, and your back will thank you for it.

I haven't changed any single thing on this amp (tubes or anything), not any failure, and don't take any thoughtful care (maybe I should), i have played plenty gigs and it looks and sounds like brand new.

Comments about Laney IRT60H 60W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I play in a cover band so I need an amp that gives me a lot of variety depending on what the band is playing and the setting ( indoor, outdoor, big room small room). And the Laney Ironheart does all that and more. Depending on the room acoustics I can brighten or darken the overall tone with the dynamics control and the attenuator is great to dial back the watts but still retain the overall tone. Three channels plus a foot-switchable boost give me lots of flexibility and they all sound great. Clean and crunch channels share the same tone stack, but the lead channel has it's own tone stack. I can even control the amp switching with a TC Electronics G-Major 2 that I put in the effects loop so I can change effects and channels with a single button. It's everything I was looking for in a reliable amplifier. Add to the fact the chassis is a tank so this thing can take a beating and keep on cranking out tone for days.

Comments about Laney IRT60H 60W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I own a combo 60 watt. I also own a Fender Twin Reverb 85 watt. I bi-amp the two. I can dial in the Laney to imitate the same clean sound as the Fender. The Laney has more versatility. It has three channels that can be programmed differently. Excellent foot switch. It also has two drive channels. One is supposedly a rhythm channel. It's your option. The boost feature is great. The pot to dial in from 5 watts to 60 watts makes it great for home use. Mine has American tubes but you can install European tubes also. Better sound than a boutique amp. Better sound than a Fender Supersonic or Devilles.

Comments about Laney IRT60H 60W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

A lot of reviews say that this amp is a Swiss army knife - this is not the case in my experience. If you play nothing but metal this amp is great, it is loud and has more than enough gain.

If you dial back the gain on the dirty channel the amp sounds lifeless and lacks definition. The clean channel also sounds dull and with way too much low end giving the amp the "blanket over the speakers" effect. The clean channel does sound ok with the built in boost function engaged but nothing spectacular. It does not take pedals well - especially dirt pedals. If you rely on pedals for your tone do not buy this amp.

The extra features are not needed and I find the led lights tacky (someone has told me that they are easy to turn off - I just have never got around to it). Keep the watts function on full and dial back the volume using the channel volume - using the watts knob to control volume will generate an unappealing fizzy compressed sound the more you dial it back.

Really not impressed. Bought it based on good reviews and my experience with my other Laney amp (LH50 now discontinued but its great). If you play balls to the wall metal and don't use anything but a boosted dirt channel you will be impressed.
