Lehle

Gold plated switches and no ground loops.

P-Split stands for "passive splitting" with maximum signal fidelity. With the Lehle guitar pedal, one instrument can be routed to two amplifiers simultaneously. Output A is electrically isolated from Output B by the Lehle LTHZ high end transformer — so ground loops are excluded from the start. In addition, the Lehle P-Split also features a gold-plated-contact phase-reversing and ground switch.

Lehle LTHZ

The Lehle LTHZ is a ferrite core transformer consisting of two coils with very high inductivity with minimal scatter. It is ideal for the galvanic isolation of high-impedance signals.

1 The input signal should be fed into this jack. The Lehle P-Split operates purely passively. The input signal remains continuously connected to outputs A and B with no semiconductors or any other active component in the signal path.

2 The input signal and its ground are directly present on jack B.

3 This switch can be used to rotate the phase of the input signal on output A through 180°. Shifting the phase may help if phase cancellations have a negative effect on signal reproduction.
4 Pressing this switch connects the grounds of outputs A and B.

5 The input signal is present on jack A, electrically isolated by the Lehle LTHZ (7) high-end transformer.6 The base of the Lehle P-Split can be secured without difficulty. First remove the four housing screws for the cover, and then screw the base of the switch to a base-plate using the two screws supplied with the unit, the washers and the spacer elements.

7 The Lehle LTHZ is a ferrite core transformer consisting of two coils with very high inductivity with minimal scatter. It is ideal for the galvanic isolation of high-impedance signals.

Lehle P-Split Splitter Guitar Pedal

Features:

I use this thing for recording and split my guitar so that nohing, but the guitar's clean and natural sound can be recorded to one track (for later processing by Guitar Rig, or Amplitube) while the sound from my miced up amp gets recorded onto another track.  This thing works perfectly for this, but the only reason I gave it a 9 is because I wish that it would have come with a means to attach to the side of my studio desk.  As it is now, it can only be placed on a table top or the floor.

Quality:

This thing is heavy for its sze and is rock solid.

Value:

This thing is not cheap, there are other cheaper models out there, but I'm not sure whether they have the same quality as the Lehle because I didn't test any of them.

Overall:

Overall, I am very happy with this thing.  Since I mail ordered it and didn't get a chance to test one before purchasing, I was concerned that it would be noisy or of poor quality, but this thing is rock solid and virtually noiseless and I cannot notice any affects on my guitar signal whatsoever.  One signal goes through a Fast Track USB preamp and directly into my computer's DAW, while the other signal goes through a Marshall amp and gets miced through a Shure SM57, then ART preamp, which then goes through a mixer and then into my computer's DAW.  Two tracks are recorded, one with my amp's sound and the other a natural-clean signal which can be modified later by amp simulation programs like Guitar Rig.  The Lehle works perfect for this type of home studio environment.

I also like the weight of it and the rubber grips on the bottom which prevents the thing from sliding around my desktop.  I only wish that it had a means for mounting vertically to the side of my desktop so that it doesn't eat desk space.  Overall, I heavily recommend this product if you have a DAW based home recording studio.  No doubt you will eventually need one of these.

I purchased this item for recording a dry (for future re-amping) and amplified signal at the same time.  Works perfectly; no hum, super clean signal.  It is definitely worth the money!

I originally bought it to split my bass guitar signal into two separate amps. To run one with and one without effects. For me it works flawlessly, it's very rugged, uses no power and takes up very little space. It is kind of pricey but it is a very high quality unit. I've also used it in many other situations, it can be a handy little life saver. I can't imagine not having one now. I keep it in my gig bag even if I don't plan on using it - just in case.

I use this for recording, sending 1 out to an effects processor and the other to my mic'd amp.  No loss of signal at all and both channels have absolutely no discernable difference from when they are plugged in individually.  I've never had to contact customer support, but my understanding is that Lehle (the owner) will answer an e-mail personally.  Cannot be happier with the performance of this simple box. It gets a 5/5 on "features" for NOT having drag control, equalization and a bunch of other stuff the Radial box has that makes what should be a simple endeavor far more complicated.
