This is a very versatile distortion pedal In short, it replaced my Boss DS-1. I've been able to get some great tones out of it. With the drive setting low, it has an edgy blues drive or classic rock drive. It definitely has more distortion than i'll ever use, but thats what i like about it. It has loads of headroom. The noise gate works well, but if you have it on 2, the notes like to fizzle out if you're trying to sustain a tone for more than 3sec. The 3 settings of Metal, Pulverize, and Insane really shift the EQ and Volume differently. If i want a mid scooped rhythm tone, I like to use Insane. If i want a Metallica-esque tone, i'll select Metal. If i want a midsy tone with some lows added in, i'll choose Pulverize. I'm on Pulverize most of the time becuase i love mids and it gets nice and growly.

The only thing that i didnt like was how the mids knob was set up. Its not like your amp's knob where all the way up is boosted and all the way down is scooped. The mid knob is more like a mid frequency knob. I noticed this about 3 months after playing with this knob. I noticed that turning it up makes more of a "chak chak chak" sound when you palm mute the low end. I took out the lows and turned the mid knob all the way down, trying to get an icepicky tone. Instead i got "djenty" style tone with some nice mid-lows. If you want to control the volume of the mids, use the Scoop knob. That one made sense to me. Scoop the mids, turn it up. Boost the mids and turn it down.

The variance of tones i get from this pedal is crazy. I play everything from blues to br00talz ;) Its my main distortion pedal if i cant get the tone with my amp. It has been very responsive with the amount of distortion applied. If i pick softer, the distortion lessens, harder, and it increases.
I have used this pedal with my two guitars: 7 string with blackouts and OFR. and Ibanez quilted maple with Steve vai pups in 2 steps down. I've used it in my home studio and through my PV Ultra 112 combo. Sounds great no matter what i put it through so far!

ok first of all... don't let the sound clips fool you. I must have gotten a dud or something because the volume control is totally off wack... the volume is very low, i.e., I have to turn the volume on the pedal all the way up to get it to be close the equal to the volume to my other pedals that are on 1/4 - 1/2 volume. I have a Digitech Grunge and a Rocktron Zombie and I love both of them... don't get me wrong, I like the distortion pretty well on the Uber Metal and the pinch harmonics on the "Insane" are in fact "Insane" and the variety of distortion capabilities are amazing... but it sounds a lot different on the sound clips. it is very well built and sturdy although the knobs are crap, they'll break off easily. I'm sending the Uber Metal back and hopefully get another.. but right now I'm hoping its a faulty pedal because if its supposed to be that way then that is just a big load of blown money. And if you are looking for a good sound Metal or any kind of metal, hardcore, heavy rock, I would strongly recommend the Rocktron Zombie and the Digitech Grunge. they sound amazing and they're cheaper. and just to give you a random tip, to make the pedals, i.e. Zombie, Grudge, Uber Metal, etc. sound heavier, more clear, more amazing, just add some compression. turn the compression knob on 1/2 and add the distortions, that's is if you have a compression pedal. but anyway's ... I LOVE Line6 and would trust them to my life, and Line6 quality but please, I recommend the Grundge and Zombie, go with one of those.

Uber Metal

Comments about Line 6 ToneCore Uber Metal Distortion Pedal:

For the amount of time I used this pedal it was awesome. Thought I'd never need another distortion pedal again. Then one day...Was using it all the time, got myself a couple new pedals, added them to the rig and now the Uber won't work, either in a sequence or just by itself. Plugged in the LED comes on so it has power. I hear a pop when I touch my cable to the output but when I connect it to the amp and run the cable from the guitar I can't pick up any incoming signal. Oh well. R.I.P. I've been interested in trying out an MXR Fullbore Metal anyway. This isn't my first Line-6 product to eventually lead me to regret my purchase. I also got a UX2 Audio Interface that came with about 5 computer programs, all of which were either garbage or "lite" versions, in other words, useless. Don't listen to their claims of solving latency either. LIES.Now I'm just waiting for my ToneCore flange to die (MXR Micro Flange, here I come)

Comments about Line 6 ToneCore Uber Metal Distortion Pedal:

Yes, Line 6 is a maker of horrible products and this one is no exception. It's only useful if you play single notes at a time. Even Power Chords come out muddy. Avoid at all cost. I was lucky enough to borrow my friend's before I bought it.

Simply awful

By Unamazed and Confused

Comments about Line 6 ToneCore Uber Metal Distortion Pedal:

Alright, so I bought this pedal when my metal group decided that we needed more distortion in our guitars. Well, everyone was saying to get this pedal, so I sold my DS-1 and raised some cash and I bought it.It was the biggest let down I've ever seen. The distortion really mangles the tone on my guitar. I use a Epiphone G-400 SG with a Randall RX120RH amplifier head. My cabinet is the one that came with it. The tone sounded simply terrible and just destroyed any tone I had going on.

Holy Grail of Distortion Pedals

Comments about Line 6 ToneCore Uber Metal Distortion Pedal:

Best.... Pedal.... EVER!!!! Even if you have the gain all the way down the sound is still amazing! I got it for Christmas because before I was just playing through my amp, but never again. This is the best pedal hands down. And don't even get me started on the built-in noise gate.

I sent it back after 1 day

Comments about Line 6 ToneCore Uber Metal Distortion Pedal:

i bought this pedal because i heard my friends line 6 amp and it had these distortion settings. It sounded bad ass. So I bought this with high hopes of a mean chunky distortion , honest to god it was the worst sounding distortion i had ever heard. total fuzz, no beef at all . the scoop option is absolutely worthless, adds more fuzz. 4x12, and it sounded like fuzz paper.only tolerable setting was mids all the way up, scoop all the way down. this pedal is worthless, overpriced and worthless. do not buy, you will be disappointed. i did find the best sounding distortion however, boss metal core with boss noise suppressor....just get those 2 items, you will not be disappointed in any way, period. the only thing it had going for it was the noise gate, as you need one for real distortion....but too bad the sound was horrible....needs all sound gated permanently.

I bought this pedal like two days ago. I was torn between the Boss Metal zone and the line 6 uber metal. I tried them both out at a music store and the line 6 blew the metal zone away. I wasn't sure before hearing it got real. after hearing it in real life my mind was made up almost instantly. amazing pedal. a must buy

Comments about Line 6 ToneCore Uber Metal Distortion Pedal:

If you are looking for a distortion pedal, that when cranked, produces a tone eqivelent to getting punched in the chest, look no further. This pedal truly kicks mad butt. I own a 1981 Les Paul Custom and a Fender Twin tube amp, this pedal (ran through the clean chanel) produces blazing lead tones and that heavy chug jug sound better than any pedal I've played. The versitility of this pedal is also a plus. With the "metal, pulverize, or insane " settings and the scoop adjustment I can get any where from Southern rock to OMG heavy. The built in noise gate works awesome. Worth the duckets? You bet! Every skinny one of them.

      IMO, Line 6's greatest product

Comments about Line 6 ToneCore Uber Metal Distortion Pedal:

I used to own this pedal before I sold it on eBay cuz I needed the money. I really do miss this pedal. The scoop feature is great. This pedal really does let you get any tone you want...and not just metal! You can get great classic rock/blues tones from it. I ususlly played on the "Pulverize" setting. For my style, the "Metal" setting was too weak and the "Insane" setting didn't have that punch I like in my tone. Plus it was just..well....INSANE!!I actually played this thing through a Peavey 1x15 bass amp with a Black Widow speaker when I had it. And the bass player played through guitar amps! Go figure! Nonetheless, we had a great sound and most of it was due to this pedal. Definately buy this pedal if you are considering.

      Uber pedal Uber sound

Comments about Line 6 ToneCore Uber Metal Distortion Pedal:

I have had this pedal for about a year already. It is a good buy, Just be careful when you set your scoop and treble levels due to the fact that they have to complement the distortion level. It takes sometime to play with and get to know where the sound is sounding just right. Also every amp is different, and I've played this pedal through a Randall and Marshall head and everytime adjustments must be made. Feedback can also be a hassel due to volume and trebel control but other than that it is a mighty good pedal.

this pedal is amazing, but there is one thing i can say about it, it is really quiet the only way to get the volume level you need if your gonna be playing with drums vocals bass ect. you have to run it thru a mixer which is what i have done, other than that it is a great pedal and i would recommend to anyone! its a must buy!

Comments about Line 6 ToneCore Uber Metal Distortion Pedal:

I really can't say enough about this pedal, it's got amazing distortion, and the built in noise gate is the best idea anyone could have had to add to this pedal. The three different distortion settings are great, I usually set mine on Pulverize for newer Slayer or Metallica sound, and set it to Metal for an Iron Maiden sound or an early Slayer sound. The noise gate works amazingly, although the pedal itself is quiet enough that you really wouldn't even need it. I set that on the first setting to keep it nice and dead quiet until I want to unleash the ear splitting distortion upon those within ear shot. The only real complaint that I would have about the noise gate is that it will cut out your sustain, but hey, for every good thing there is always a bad thing, and I can deal with having a low sustain. The scoop knob is also extremely helpful if really making your tone as deep and metal sounding as you could imagine, and for a more rock tone, you can even boost the mids with the scoop knob. Basically, if this pedal was a kid at school, it would beat up and take the lunch money from the kids that beat up the nerds and take their lunch money. Excellent value, I do not regret buying this pedal at all. The sound clips on the site really don't do this pedal justice, you just have to hear it in person and you will know just how much this pedal was made to kick.

Wow. I play metal, hardcore, metalcore, screamo, death metal, etc, and this pedal is absoultely perfect. You can shape your tone so much, you just need to get it and see for yourself. It has such a great tone, and it was perfect for me to get that perfect metal solo tone used in bands such as Children Of Bodom, Arch Enemy, Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society, and many more. I use an ESP Viper 400 with EMG 81's through this, a Crybaby wah, and a tuner, into a Marshall MG100HDFX, and this, although not a very expensive rig, and not a great amp, can get me a great tone, and so much is based on the Uber Metal. I love this pedal.

OK I bought this petal to experiment with Norse Death-metal Tabs. It blew me away when I had the distortions I needed almost right away. After experimenting with it to some extent I love the tones I get out of it when I play most grunge songs also. The only major problem I have had out of this petal is the battery life. Invest in a adapter, this is so powerful that it drains the battery life. Also investing in a set of Blue Steel Dean Markley strings eliminated alot of feed back.

wow, i love this pedal. ive had it for about a month and i love the sound on it. the 3 features are great, (Metal, Pulverize, Insane). i use pulverize and metal the most. ive used other pedals and this one definately is the best by far. u can set it exactly how u want it. the gate provides for clarity of notes, even at high volumes. i use it with my 3o watt amp and can easily hear it over a drum set at around 10 oclock on the level dial. if u want to sound like metallica, then go for this pedal.
