Comments about Lovepedal Superlead Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:
I have metal covered with MXR Fullbore Metal, mellow blues covered with an Ibanez Tubescreamer and full-on craziness handled with my EHX Tube Zipper... but I've been in search of a regular to heavy rock distortion for years.
+ Boss DS-1 was a tone sucker,
+ Rat was decent but not musical with gain up past 12 oclock. Plus I had one die on me.
+ TC Electronic Nova Drive was expensive and, even tho you can store multiple settings, it seemed like everything sounded the same which was a decent sound, but not worth 250+.
I returned the Nova Drive and that's when I got the TS-9 and Fullbore Metal pedals, which both do their job, but don't do standard or heavy (non metal) distortion.
I watched numerous demos and read several reviews and my research led me to two contenders: MXR's 78 bad.a.5.5 distortion and the Lovepedal Superlead.
Both are made in USA, both are true bypass and both sound great across the distortion spectrum.
The Superlead sounded more lush, deep, and musical as you push distortion up toward max. The MXR pedal did sound very good, just not as good.
The Superlead seemed to have a touch more distortion on tap, while the MXR seemed to have more volume available.
Both pedals have a mid-boost mode both of which really can help you cut thru a mix and make both pedals really come to life.
In the end, I decided to cough up the dough and get the Superlead which was going to be 50 more than the MXR. But lucky me, our local store had the Superlead on clearance.
After playing the Superlead for a day, I can tell you that this is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Great super heavy tone with loads of musical drive.
This pedal reacts to my guitar's settings so beautifully it has really blown me away. if the distortion sounds too blown-out, i can just back off the volume a bit, easily dialing in a sweet spot. Switching to different pickup configurations dynamically changes how this pedal sounds: deep-and-dark to right-in-the-middle to in-your-face full treble assault.
I like to dial in a dark distortion with both pickups on, max volume on neck and 85% on the bridge, that way when I'm ready for a solo, I can switch to just the bridge pickup and soar above the fray.
So far I've tested the Superlead on my Gibson LP Studio (passive humbuckers,) my Agile 3000M (LP clone w 81/85 active humbuckers) and my Agile Intrepid (8-string strat clone w active humbuckers) and I could not be happier.
Even though I got lucky on the price, I'd say it's worth every penny of the regular price tag.

Comments about Lovepedal Superlead Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:
I bought this because who can't use another Marshall type distortion, Right! Well, I tried it out on my Blackstar HT-1, and didn't really like it, but that amp is hard to mate pedals to, so I try it in my Solid State Orange Crush 12L and It sounds Excellent. I have to play at low volume with out Headphones, My neighbors are crazy about noise, This pedal sounds good on a Solid State Amp at Low Volume. So, Excellent Pedal, I can use that. I need to try it out Louder on a Tube Amp, But so far, after owning this for 4 hours now. It's Killer.
